We’ve got it wrong on wildfires…

So says James.  He writes this, ” Every year at this time in Southern California, We have a phenomenon called “Santa Anna Winds” to put it into perspective here in AZ we have Monsoons they last what 2~4 hours? Imagine the dust storm that precedes a monsoon, but it blows continuously for 72~96 hours! During this the fireline can advance at speeds of 20-40mph (grass/shrubs) the Hardwoods(trees) continue to burn for days and can be a source to restart a “new” fire. When you start a fire what do you do…you blow on it to make it bigger, in the canyon valleys wind speeds can easily exceed 100MPH! No amount of watch towers will make a difference…oh! By the way.. we do have watch towers. The greatest issue was we couldn’t get fire suppressant planes in the air thanks to Gods Almighty Santa Anna winds. The root cause..MAN! Due to poor land management, we have excessive dead growth, the green freaks, we don’t do controlled burns due to “endangered species” crap.

So Mother Nature burned San Diego, it’s normal life cycle just this impacted humans!”

Ankarlo Audio: Thu Oct 25, 2007

The wildfires are already becoming political. Senators Harry Reid and Barbara Boxer have their opinions. Wolf Blitzer has his. California’s Lt. Gov. must also get in on the act all while people’s homes are still burning down. Ankarlo reacts.
Sgt. Tom Lovejoy talks to Darrell today about his ordeal. He has used it for some good though having created a new device that will alert anyone having left an animal in the car. Sgt. Lovejoy will go on trial in January for killing his police dog, Bandit. Sgt. Lovejoy’s wife, Carolyn takes issue with their address being made public right after the tragedy happens. And why not? Her husband is a police officer and has every right to remain private just as County Attorney Andrew Thomas and Sheriff Joe Arpaio do.
In the final hour of the show, Ankarlo is outraged because two teenagers have been convicted of sex crimes. She was 16 at the time and her boyfriend was 17. They decided to take naked pictures of themselves and email them to each other. Somehow they got busted and charged with child porn and have also had to register as sex offenders. Also, check out the call from Paul. His son was convicted of a sex crime when was 18 and his life has never been the same.

Ankarlo Audio: Wed Oct 23, 2007

Get ready for a ride, it was a busy Ankarlo Mornings today. First, Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas drops in to talk about the The Arizona Republic and Channel 12 releasing his home address. Thomas has hired armed security guards to take his children to school. After all, he has put away some very dangerous people. I can understand his frustration. The Senate held a procedural vote today on the DREAM Act. Luckily it failed. It’s another victory for those of us who oppose amnesty. Mayor Phil Gordon hits our airwaves once again because he is billing the Federal Government for the costs of illegal immigration in Phoenix. I’m sure the Fed will act promptly. At least he is trying though.

Our new lineup at KTAR features Glenn Beck. He is in trouble for on both sides of the ailse because of some comments he made on his show this week. Read more about them here, http://mediamatters.org/items/200710220003?f=h_latest. Darrell compares his comments to those of the California’s Lt. Governor, John Garamendi. He says President George Bush shouldn’t bother coming to Southern Cal to see the wild fire damage because it is a public relations move and will be a distraction. You can see his interview with Chris Matthews, here . Really there is no comparison between the two. Garamendi’s comments are more offensive than Beck’s.

Finally, the Chairman of the Board for the American Islamic Forum for Democracy Dr. Zuhdi Jasser joins Darrell to talk about the mistrail of the Holy Land Foundation. They are accused of funding the terrorist group Hamas. Dr. Jasser has been very outspoken on this issue and many others. You can visit his website to learn more about the American Islamic Forum for Democracy here, http://www.aidemocracy.org/.

Ankarlo Audio: Tue Oct 23, 2007

An 8 year old had to call 9-1-1 on his mother because she went to a restaurant and had a few drinks. Ankarlo plays some of the tape and gets your reaction. What should happen that mother? FM News Talk 92.3 KTAR’s own Jim Cross is reporting live from Southern California near all those wildfires. He joins Darrell with and update. So does Mayor Phil Gordon. Another Phoenix police officer is shot at, but it didn’t make the news. Mayor Gordon wonders if it is because the suspect wasn’t an illegal alien. In the ten o’clock hour, Darrell backs up his theory that Hispanic men stare at women. It’s a cultural thing says Darrell. In the final hour of today’s show Darrell covers a wide variety of topics including Turkey vs. Iraq, Phoenix getting ranked low in the attractive people list and water shortages.

Today on Ankarlo Mornings, Darrell invites Stephen Lemons from the Phoenix New Times to ask him why his paper would publish Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s home address.  And just what does the New Times have against the Sheriff anyways?  There are wildfires burning in Malibu and celebrity homes are burning.  But, why don’t we care?  Is it because we are jealous or because we hate rich people?  Isn’t that what America is all about?  A new report has come out about our schools and they may not be as safe as you thought.  Not from violence, but from teachers who get charged with sexual misconduct.
