Ankarlo: Thu Dec 6, 2007

Today could be considered a make or break day for the Mitt Romney campaign.  He certainly had us and the nation listening to his speech entitled, “Faith in America.” You can hear the speech in it’s entirety on today’s podcast.  Gov. Romney hit a home run.  He didn’t speak too directly about his Faith, but Faith’s in general.  You can read the text here.  He made me feel great to be an American while saying if elected President he will not serve one religion.

Ankarlo welcomes Don Evans, spokesman for the LDS Church with reaction to Romney’s speech.  He also talks to Matt Slick, president of Christian Apologists and Research Ministry.  Slick says Mormons aren’t Christians.  Plus, Ankarlo also gauges some of your reaction.

Since, it’s Red V Blue Thursday we welcome back Chuck for Ron Paul to defend his title.  Chuck defeats the challenge of Rudy Giuliani, but was beat by Mitt Romney aka Joe.  What a day for Romney.  Joe will be back next week to defend his crown!

Romney

Go Mitt.  If you want to represent your candidate, next Thursday at 10AM, Ankarlo Mornings is the place to be.

Fritz Wenzel from Zogby International stops by to give us the latest poll numbers.  According to Fritz, Romney and Huckabee are running neck and neck on the Republican side in Iowa.  For the Dems, Hillary is at 27%, Obama is right behind at 24% and Edwards can’t written off with 21% support.  Also, keep in mind how the Iowa Caucus works.  You attend a caucus and stand for one candidate.  Then the room is divided up by candidates.  So all the Hillary people will stand in one section, while all the Obama people will be in another place.  But, there has to be enough people to be “viable.”  If a candidate doesn’t have enough support they then can switch their alliances.  For instance, if Gov. Bill Richardson doesn’t receive enough support his supports are allowed to re-pick and could then join the Sen. John Edwards camp.  Fritz says Clinton is getting a lot of support as a “second candidate.”  This could help her out on caucus day January 3.

Today’s “Holiday Hero” is Lt. Kara Larson.  She is a fifteen year Veteran, currently serving in the Arizona National Guard after previously serving in the Army.  She just got home after serving over a year in Iraq.  Ankarlo also talks to Austin Gutwein.  Austin is 13 years old, but has already raised over $100,000 dollars for children in Africa who have been orphaned.  He is truely amazing.  Visit his website here and get involved!
