Dr. Juan Hernandez UPDATE!

McCain’s office still hasn’t called back, however, here is a blog from Dr. Juan Hernandez himself.  Hernandez has an email address, jhernandez@mccainhq08.com.  He signs the blog as “Hispanic Outreach Director” and later in the blog it says “Paid for by John McCain.”  It looks like Hernandez does play a role in the McCain campaign (for more of Hernandez read the post below this one).

Here is the press release:

Is an open border advocate working with McCain?

There are reports out today saying that Dr. Juan Hernandez is John McCain’s “Hispanic Outreach Director.” I have called McCain’s press office to confirm or deny this. But, so far they haven’t answered my question. Here is what we do know. Hernandez is a U.S. born citizen with dual citizenship with Mexico. He served in Former Mexican President Vincente Fox’s cabinet as Director of the Office for Mexicans Living Abroad. Keep in mind, Hernandez was born in Fort Worth, Texas.

In a 2001 interview with Nightline, Hernandez said “We are betting that the Mexican population in the United States will become more and more like the Jewish communty in the United States and the Puerto Rican community in the United States, that they will think Mexico first. And they will invest in Mexico. They’ve already been doing it to great extent…but now I want the third generation, the seventh generation, I want them all to think Mexico first. ” Remember, this guy was born in America. Listen below.

In 2006 on the Fox News Channel, Dr. Juan Hernandez said, “let me remind you the people using false social security numbers are putting in money for you and for me into the social security administration.” So does that make identity theft okay? The bottom line is Hernandez wants more immigrants to come to the United States. On his own website, he writes an article calling for a fix to the broken U.S. immigration system. Hernandez wants temporary guest workers, work visas, a path to citizenship for those who came here illegally, and a reuniting of close family members.

So is this guy working for McCain. Again, no comment yet from the McCain camp. But, here is a photo of Hernandez with McCain advisor Mark McKinnon and McCain’s daughter Meaghan. The photo was taken on December 10, 2007 backstage at the Univision Republican Debate. At the very least, Dr. Hernandez was present inside McCain’s green room at the Spanish language debate. This doesn’t just happen by coincidence.

That is him on the right. Here is a picture from Hernandez’s website. It’s from 1996. And yes that is then Governor of Texas George W. Bush, Hernandez and then Mexican President Vincente Fox.

There is plenty to like about Sen. John McCain. He is an American hero. He has served this country well. He is a leader and proponent on the War in Iraq and he is adamant that government cut spending. But, there is the other side of McCain. The McCain who worked with a very liberal Senator Russ Feingold on legislation to limit political free speech. There is also the McCain who worked with Sen. Ted Kennedy on an immigration reform bill that pretty much amounted to amnesty. Ankarlo asked McCain about the “amnesty bill” in Iowa back in November. McCain responded by saying “I was never for amnesty” and then went on to say most people who ask me questions are better informed. McCain continues to say he hasn’t changed his position on the border, but if he has hired Dr. Juan Hernandez, an amnesty advocate, one has to wonder what McCain really believes.

Listen to Ankarlo ask McCain about amnesty below.

Ankarlo: Thu Jan 24, 2008:

Today’s Show: Will the Clintons say anything to get elected? It certainly seems that way. Bill is all over South Carolina spouting off at the mouth and getting plenty of media attention. Is Bill’s media attention hurting or helping Hillary? Today’s Ankarlo political death match sees Mitt Romney fight hard against Barack Obama and Rudy Giuliani, but eventually fall in the third round to a tough John Edwards. Fritz Wenzel from Zogby gives us the latest poll numbers and ABC’s George Stephanopoulos joins Ankarlo to talk the vote. Ankarlo also talks with Rep. Rick Murphy about the English Language Learners program. A group of school administrators said yesterday the program is going to cost $300 million more this year than it did last year. Rep. Murphy doesn’t think those numbers are accurate.
