I never like to see a player get hurt. However, a long
stay on the DL and a nice long rehab in the minors is just
what the Dr ordered…and the show is stupid!
I’m stealing one of Wolf’s pet phrases here, but there are 2 types of players in MLB…the first has the ability to come to the realization that their current performance on the field is not helping the team, and they are acceptable to a stint in the minors to possibly work on some mechanics, injury issues, or whatever. The second is a player with an ego so large, or an attitude that since they have been promoted to the ‘big club’ that they consider it an insult on their abilities to be sent down…I’m really hoping Eric Byrnes falls into the former category. I don’t doubt the man’s heart, desire, ability, whatever…but he is absolutely killing the club right now, and there is no quick fix in sight to Byrnes’ struggles…the big hurt here is the salary, and for the time being, it looks like it’s been an unwise signing. But who can tell when injuries will rear their ugly head…
