1. GIANTS: : by virtue of their WSH beat down, they take the top spot |
2. BILLS: I know it was just the Rams but they beat people in so many different ways |
3. TITANS: want to know how good this defense is? Despite mediocre offense, they lead the NFL in point differential…being 8th in rushing helps the “D” |
4. REDSKINS: out of all my pre-season opinions I was wrong about this one the most (OK, I was hoping you forgot about CIN) |
5. COWBOYS: : despite being the best talent-wise, when TO starts chirping and your coaches are dumb enough to only give Barber the ball 8 times, you drop in the poll |
6. BUCS: I still can’t get over the way they’re handling the schedule…@CHI, vGB, @DEN, vCAR (only Arkansas’ four game block is tougher)—TB 2, Arkansas 0 |
7. PANTHERS: : can’t be underestimated how huge KC’s win was so CAR would focus on the task at hand…two big games after KC and then smooth sailing until after Thanksgiving |
8. EAGLES: I like McNabb but when is he going to win a big game w/o TO? |
9. CHARGERS: so DEN fan, how are you feeling now? |
10. STEELERS: yes, I know they dropped with a win but they looked awful, they’re not going ahead of PHI and they’re @JAX next |
11. BEARS: first four opponents are 9-6 with INDY bringing down the average, next four are 3-11 with ATL bringing up the average |
12. JAGUARS: they still average giving up more points than they score…tough two weeks and then they get four weeks off (bye, Ohio, Michigan up next) |
13. PACKERS: too bad Rogers is hurt because no one could see that coming…oh wait, I predicted it, I guess you could see it coming |
14. BRONCOS: you mean no refs to help and they lose!! I’m shocked |
15. COLTS: every team gets a break in the schedule, the problem is theirs doesn’t come until Thanksgiving (last in rushing and 31st in rush defense is a problem) |
16. SAINTS: after going 1-2, I said they’d win 6 of 7, Brees is the reason |
17. PATRIOTS: trying the AZ trip of staying on the coast all weekend (@SF/@SD), somehow I’m thinking theirs will go better than AZ’s did |
18. JETS: what do you call a confident team with a bye week before CIN, @OAK, and KC? dangerous |
19. RAVENS: more impressive in defeat than they have been in victory but with TEN and @ INDY next, they needed to win in PITT |
20. VIKINGS: you know that girl that’s really hot from a distance and then you get a closer look and, well, now you know MIN |
21. CARDINALS: I thought there was now accountability for turnovers and penalties? 6 teams have more penalties and only 3 are worse than -3 |
22. 49ERS: enjoy 1st place…next 3 vNE, vPHI, @NYG |
23. DOLPHINS: I’ll have no idea where to rank this team if they beat SD |
24. SEAHAWKS: must win three in Oct (@NYG, vGB, @TB, vSF), but they won’t |
25. TEXANS: game of the year vINDY because vMIA and vDET could be a 3-3 record if they get it done this week |
26. FALCONS: didn’t fare well @CAR…they’ll do better @GB but lose anyway |
27. RAIDERS: it’s not PC but since he won’t sell and he won’t relinquish control, this team will not succeed until Al Davis is dead (the man is now interviewing replacements without firing Kiffin) |
28. CHIEFS: why was it you started Thigpen against ATL?…just remember the combination of Davis/Kiffin beat Peterson/Edwards |
29. BROWNS: the whole time I’m thinking, “Man the Bengals are bad.” |
30. LIONS: 10/19/08 @HOU, it might be your only shot boys |
31. BENGALS: next time I pick you to cover, will you tell me Carson’s not playing before I blog? |
32. RAMS: Jim Haslett is no Dale Sveum…most teams point differential is anywhere between 30 and –10 after 4 games (Rams= -104) |
In reference to the Eagles and McNabb I just wanted to point out that the year the Eagles went to the Super Bowl and lost to New England, McNabb won the NFC championship game for the first time in his career and not choking like in previous years, all while TO was hurt and not playing, the only game they lost in those playoffs was the Super Bowl that TO played in.
