Weekend’s already started real well.  My mother’s in town this weekend.  I picked her up from a hotel on Scottsdale Road today after a week long seminar she attended.  She flies out on Sunday so we’ll be able to spend the weekend together.

My Grandparents used to come to a lot of my sporting events when I grew up in Ohio so I’m glad she’s here to watch Vienna.  We have a double header Saturday morning and that’s the last two games of the year for Vienna’s soccer team.

While I’m writing this I’m watching the Suns.  No Shaq.  No Barnes.  No chance.  However, did you see Robin tonight?  I hope they win @ Milwaulkee.  2-2 isn’t a bad road trip but when you win the first two the bar gets raised.

Saturday is going to be a day without a lot football for me.  I’ve got the double header and than I’ll leave for the station after lunch.  The ASU pre-game show starts at 3:30 and then we’re going to church Saturday night and then out to dinner.  It makes for a long Sunday because I’ll be watching all the college games I missed after the Eagles game.

Speaking of the Eagles game.  I was going to take that game and the points with Philly.  I was shocked to see that Philly was favored.  I’m not touching that game.  I think Philly’s going to win but there’s no way I’m laying points against a team as good as the Giants (second best in the league).
 

There are a lot of games on the board that I like this week.  I had a hard time narrowing it down to five.  Usually when that happens I pick the wrong games.  Ohio St., Mich St., Duke, and UGa to cover and KU and Ga Tech plus the points are the games I like that I’m not using.  If I 5-1 in games I didn’t use and bomb on the other games I may stop picking games.  This week I like a lot of college games.

Arizona -41 @ WaSU 

I’m picking every WaSU opponent to cover until the Apple Cup.  I’ll be wrong eventually but it seems like a free win every week.

Alabama -3 @ LSU

If this was a night game I’d probably avoid it.  You think people joke about the drinking @ LSU but it’s out-of-control.  Those fans are crazy at night.  Death Valley really isn’t that tough of a place on the CBS afternoon game.  Plus, there’s the whole Saban thing.  He’s the only coach that can will his team to a win.

Okla St. +3 @ Tex Tech

I usually avoid big games and I’m taking both big games this week.  I don’t see how a program who’s used to big let downs in big games can suddenly win after the most emotional win in the history of the program.  There’s just no way Tech can bring the same intensity for the second week.  OSU will have a huge advantage and they’ll get points.  Go Pokes!

Florida St -51/2 v Clemson

If someone fired your son, how would you feel?  If you lost to Georgia Tech for the first time in over 30 years, how would you feel?  That number would have to go pretty high before I’d scare off of FSU.

Cardinals -9 1/2 v SF

I think Vegas is anticipating SF accepting Singletary and the Cardinals in let down mode.  The Cardinals want the nation to take them seriously.  The Cardinals want every NFC team to see how difficult it will be to win in Glendale.  In a perverse way, this game has playoff implications, not only in seeding, but also to instill fear in others.  I have no problem with the Cards winning with a Fitzgerald catch in the end zone and a FG.  I think it will be a 17 point win with the 49ers scoring a meaningless 4th quarter TD just to cut the 24 point lead.
