Wolf’s Chalkboard Chat - 11/24

Welcome! You have entered [Sports 620 KTAR] at 9:17 am
[Blackmaverik] 9:18 am: Hey Wolf, Giants O Line impressed me
[timmyjv] 9:18 am: Hey wolf, Do you think it would be demoralizing if the
Cards would lose Turkeyday?
[WOLF] 9:19 am: The Cards requited themselves well against the
defending Super Bowl champions. Physically, they held up well:
1-sack and only 87-yards rushing by a team that has been killing
people on the ground.

[gmanistheman] 9:19 am: Good Morning Wolf,
[twahlberg] 9:19 am: without brandon jacobs
[frank] 9:20 am: Without Plax as well!
[gmanistheman] 9:20 am: Since you are in a giving mood. What was
your word of the day at 8:50. Thanks
[twahlberg] 9:20 am: don’t you think NY puts up more ground yards with
jacobs? Also, they played with short field on 5 posessions, didn’t need
a lot of yards
[WOLF] 9:21 am: The Giants lost to the Patriots last year and that
loss changed the direction of their team. I think, to some degree,
the same may happen with the Cards.

[James01] 9:21 am: If the special teams (Ware) played better, the
Cards win that game!
[twahlberg] 9:22 am: if my aunt had nuts…..
[timmyjv] 9:22 am: How much of a beat down is the Eagles game going
to be with out Mcnabb
[SREAD] 9:22 am: I think it had more to do with the O line
[WOLF] 9:23 am: The cards had 27-first downs, racked up
371-yards of total offense, converted 3rd downs at a 57% rate, and
only had 3-penalties. They can gain confidence based on how
they played.

[cardsfan] 9:23 am: What was up with Ware? Just caught in bad
situations? And yes I agree they learned they can play with the big
boys but humbled because need to stay focused on correctable easy
mistakes.
[timmyjv] 9:24 am: That was pretty sly of Wiz to try for the LONG field
goal going into the half
[bwat] 9:24 am: whats the rule for trying the free kick?
[WOLF] 9:24 am: The Cards need some grunts/wedge-busters on
their kickoff cover team. They need some big-boys to go in there
and do the dirty work. Until that happens, they might continue to
struggle.

[SREAD] 9:25 am: Even though the kick went, what 10 yards LOL
[j] 9:25 am: I also thought the decision to kick the field goal on first
down at the end of the game was brilliant.  Too many coaches waste
the time going for the touchdown first.  Wiz seems quite savy.
[cardsfan] 9:26 am: There’s an article in the subhead when you get out
of the chat, but basically if you call for a fair catch at any time you can
have a free kick.
[WOLF] 9:27 am: Ken Whisenhunt is an excellent coach. This guy
knows what he is doing and, most impressively, he isn’t falling on
the “sword of philosophy” like some coaches do. He wants to be
a run-first team but he knows they aren’t built that way. This takes
moral courage to not do things the way you are familiar with.

[frank] 9:28 am: Wolf, do you see anyone else but the Giants coming
out of the NFC?
[WOLF] 9:29 am: The Giants are the best team in the league. Now,
that doesn’t mean they can’t be beat but they don’t have a
weakness.

[aznailer] 9:30 am: Is the Cards defense worst problem consistency?
[WOLF] 9:30 am: I felt honored just being able to witness a
free-kick. You just don’t see them anymore.

[James01] 9:31 am: All the experts said the Gmen would pound the
Cards. I didn’t see it that way.
[aznailer] 9:31 am: no the D showed brillence on occasion
[cardsfan] 9:31 am: Before you go Wolf, we need a prediction for
Thursday night. With the Eagles past 2 weeks I think it’s a coin flip.
[timmyjv] 9:31 am: It couldve been alot worse if the mini tank had
played, that dudes a bowling ball
[frank] 9:32 am: Yeah, I think if Jacobs and Plax were at full strength it
could have been a bloodbath.
[WOLF] 9:32 am: The Cards defense played okay, to me. They
lead the NFL in takeaways and they held up - physically - against
the Giants. They need to get better in their 3rd and long defense.
They are the worst in the NFL, allowing opponents to convert 3rd
and 10+ 31% of the time.

[WOLF] 9:34 am: Jacobs is a beast. But the Giants didn’t have
many holes to run the ball. The front-7 for the Cards did a great
job at the point-of-attack.

[trayeight] 9:35 am: wolf, why do you think it is that our kickoff coverage
has been so bad?
[timmyjv] 9:35 am: How big was it for DRC to have big recievers to
practice against to warm up for some of the giants WRs
[WOLF] 9:35 am: I think the Cards win the game against the
Eagles. Although the place will be a zoo, the crowd might turn on
the Eagles if the Red Birds can get a lead early in the game.

[trayeight] 9:35 am: i watched morey go around the wedge instead of
through it on hixon’s second big return
[WOLF] 9:36 am: Scroll up on kickoff cover and you’ll see my
answer.

[WOLF] 9:37 am: Yes, he did go around it. This is a decision Sean
would like back. He’s a great transitional player that just made a
bad judgment.

[aznailer] 9:37 am: it was good to see the discipline in yesterdays game
[cardsfan] 9:37 am: I agree the first quarter is huge… The Philly fans will
be all over the home team if they are down double digits by half.
[aznailer] 9:37 am: will help with future calls
[WOLF] 9:38 am: The turmoil that is going through the Eagles
locker room cannot be overstated. To bench their leader is a big
deal and EVERYONE in that locker room is talking about today.

[WOLF] 9:39 am: All good things must come to an end, my friends.
Thanks for chatting and I’ll see you next week.

[cardsfan] 9:40 am: Thanks Wolf, please come back NFC West
Champs.
[Jericho] 9:40 am: Have a great week!
[Blackmaverik] 9:40 am: Later man
