Here’s what happened Thursday on Doug and Wolf:
* The Suns extended their winning streak to six after beating the Jazz last night 118-114. Doug is hopeful that they will make the playoffs and is impressed with the team’s new style of play especially Grant Hill. Wolf still thinks that when the season is over the team will be blown up.
* U.S. Senators are getting off the sidelines to examine antitrust issues involving the Bowl Championship Series. Under the current BCS, some conferences get automatic bids to participate in series, while others do not. Should Congress be solving College Football’s problems or our country’s problems?
Doug and Wolf: “No congress, stay out! We can solve our own problems!”
* D&W are nervous about their brackets…They need YODA to come through or else they will be wearing hot dog suits at Chase Field while Gambo & Ash point and laugh.
Grid Irion Griddle:
The NFL draft order will be changed, from now on if you make the playoffs your draft position will only be determined among how you do with other playoff losers.
D&W: Both agree that this is a good rule. This rule will already be enforced with the Cardinals right away.
The NFL is considering adding 2 more games to their schedule, and cutting out 2 preseason games.
Wolf: “Going to 17 games is a bad thing for the athlete’s health. Is this why they have been enforcing tougher rules and punishments to make the games safer so they can then extend the season? Hmmm… Doesn’t the NFL make enough money already?”
Guests:
Kevin Spencer, Cardinals Special Teams Coach: Kevin tried to motivate Doug and Wolf about their “Sweet 16” picks. He also told us why the loss of the wedge will change special teams in the NFL.
John Clayton, ESPN NFL Insider: John called in live from the NFL Winter Meetings. He gave us his thoughts on the recent rule changes.
Al McCoy, Suns Hall of fame Broadcaster: Al reviewed the Suns big win over the Jazz last night.
Pauls Call: Paul Calvisi takes his sports seriously, without taking himself too seriously. Your daily dose of irreverence, angst, and stupification.

Doug is by far the dumbest sports talk show host I’ve ever heard. Here are today’s idiotic obeservations:
1) “Suns didn’t want to pay Rudy Fernandez a rookie contract of 3 years and $8 million.”
Reality. 1st rounders have two years guaranteed, and team option the next two seasons. Rudy’s salary this year is $1,084,000 and next year $1,165,000.
2) “Maybe we (the Suns) should listen to this guy (Doug) and you would have had a championship.”
Reality. No they wouldn’t.
3) “U of A will hire Saint Mary’s coach Randy Bennett.”
No. They won’t.
Stayed tuned for more gems of wisdom Dumb Franz.
