The Joe Crummey Show — Friday, January 30th, 2009

It’s the last show before Super Bowl 43.   President Obama’s taking the Steelers.  I’m going with the Cardinals and so is just about everyone else in Phoenix…who’s your pick?  The owner from Harold’s in Cave Creek joins us…he’s a big time Steeler’s fan…I wonder who he’s picking for the game…hehe.  Mark Asher from Sports 620 KTAR caught up with us too.  He’s down in Tampa Bay and will be at the game as a fan supporting the Cards.

A California woman cranks out octuplets for only the second time in U.S. history.  She already had six kids…there’s no daddy here.  What’s the deal with this woman.  Is this a cry for attention, could this be psychological issues, etc?

Exxon Mobil posted a new record profit in 2008.  They made a whopping $45,200,000,000.  Yes if you’re counting at home that’s Forty-five point two billion bucks.  I don’t think the media sees there profits the right way though.  Check out the podcast and you’ll hear what the media NEVER tells you.

In west Phoenix earlier today there was a bad school bus crash.  26 people were injured.  This crash coincides with the NTSB releasing their report on the 2007 Helicopter crash in Phoenix that claimed four people’s lives.  There were choppers in the air again today though…and how is this any different from driving and talking on a cell phone which is also dangerous?

The economic stimulus package passed the house today.  Do people not realize they’re paying to get their own money?

Did you see the survey that says Arizonans SUPPORT Speed and Red light cameras?  It’s posted here on KTAR.com:  http://ktar.com/?sid=1033471&nid=344

Check out the survey.  We chatted with one of the people behind the poll tonight to get their side of the story.  What do you think about it?  Do AZ residents really support the cams?

Sheriff Joe’s come up with a brilliant new plan.  Convicts will ride the light rail and it will save the sheriff’s office about $70,000 a year.  Is this a stunt…or would Arpaio really go forward with this idea?

The Super Bowl’s only five days away.  Cardinals vs. Steelers in Super Bowl 43.  Today was media day.  Check out the show podcast to hear what the Cardinals “fairy god-mother”, the woman measuring players biceps, and the players had to say.

The Joe Crummey Show — Monday, January 26th, 2009

I’ve got a plan to stimulate the economy.  It’s way better than paying for contraception and including them in the economic stimulus.  How about instead of politicians making the decisions…(build this…build that…buy some condoms…) and borrowing the money.  They should give us a tax holiday.  Every month the Treasury sucks up about $160 billion bucks.  It’s your money…we should get to keep our own money for six or eight months.

Basketball Coach at the Covenant School in Dallas, Micah Grimes was fired after his team beat Dallas Academy 100-0.  Do you think the school made the right call?

A woman lost her seven carat $70,000 diamond ring down a toilet at the Black Bear Diner here in Phoenix.  What does having a bigger ring mean?

Phoenix police lose their lawsuit asking to be paid to put on and take off their uniforms at work.  Justice prevailed here…most professions don’t pay their employees to get dressed…neither should the cops.

A local Phoenix man says the world could be coming to an end in 2012.

Britney Spears has a controversial new single on the way called “If You Seek Amy.”  Is it too risque to play on the radio?  And how do you approach naughty words with your kids?

The Joe Crummey Show–Thursday, January 22, 2009

President Obama is making it his number one priority to stop the use of torture and to close Guantanamo Bay.  Y’know what, though?  Why should we be the only nation to restrain ourselves in matters of national security?

A girls’ high school basketball team wants to do what Jesus would do and they say that would be giving up their giant victory over another school.

ASU President Michael Crow says budgetary hardships may require campus closings.  KTAR reporter Colton Shone will give us a look inside the situation.

After witnessing Barack Obama’s inauguration, Larry King’s little boy says he’d like to be black.  Are we judging people on the color of their skin rather than, as Dr. Martin Luther King said, “the content of their character”?

The Joe Crummey Show — Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

One day after President Obama’s Inauguration Arizona saw former AZ Secretary of State Jan Brewer being sworn in as Governor.  Just like Obama she’s going to quickly get to work on the economic situation left by her predecessor.

In Barack Obama’s first day in office he stressed having a transparent government and trying to eliminate special interest groups.  If you previously worked for a defense contractor etc. and you’re working in the White House you won’t be able to have any direct interaction with that contractor.   What about Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State though. She’s married to Bill Clinton’s raised $500 million from countries all over the planet.  That’s the ultimate lobbying.   Those countries don’t just give money for nothing.

Sports Illustrated has predicted the Cardinals will win Super Bowl 43.  NBC Sports says the Cardinals are the worst team to ever make it to the Super Bowl.  Cards fans have loved being the underdog throughout the playoffs…do you want to keep things that way…not getting any respect?  Or is it cool that Sports Illustrated is picking the Cardinals to win the game?

The Joe Crummey Show — Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Congratulations Mr. President…Barack Obama’s the man now.  Today was Inauguration Day 2009…we’ve got a new President…Barack Obama’s the 44th President of the United States.

Everyone thought Pastor Rick Warren might be controversial today delivering the Invocation…it was Reverend Joe Lowery who really shook things up though with his Benediction at President Obama’s Inauguration.

I called President Obama a “black guy” at one point tonight and a caller told me it offended him.  Why’s it so offensive to call Barack Obama a black guy if I called President Bush a white guy for all these years?

The Joe Crummey Show — Monday, January 19th, 2009

The Cardinals beat the Eagles on Sunday to win the NFC Championship.  I enjoyed the game and I hope they beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl.  What’d you think about the game?

Talking about the Cardinals big win I found myself talking about hope, and change, and I started thinking about Barack Obama too.  The whole Cards game was fever pitched…and that was just like Obama’s campaign.  That’s partially why he’s being inaugrated tomorrow.

and it’s Martin Luther King day today…did MLK predict Barack Obama would be President of the U.S. one day?  Check out the podcast and you’ll find out.
