    I’d like to see children born here petition to get their parents legal status. So many of my kids friends are in this situation and it puts their family into a no man’s land.

    Set up a quasi-governmental organization between USA and Mexico. Any imigrant from Mexico would be required to be employed by this organization. All employers would pay this organization the total compensation. This organization would be the employer. Taxes would be withheld by this new organization. In addition, 5% of the wages would be withheld to cover healthcare for all immigrants. Allow 3-5 year work permits. Cannot bring family to USA. At end of permit they must return to their country and allow another person to come here to work and get training.

    I would not pass a new bill at all but strongly enforce the current laws and protect our borders. I would give those here in this country 60 days to leave and start the process over like every other immigrant who has been trying to do it legally. After that period if you are caught you will never be able to enter this country again. I would impose a fine on any establishment i.e. business or housing complex who hires or rents to an illegal. Our American lives depend on it.

    I think that if we secure the border we need to build a fence. The prison’s in this country have electrified fences with razor wire on them, I truly think that is what needs to be on the border. As for the folks here already, if Sheriff Joe can find them why can’t anyone else? I think they ought to be found and then they should be deported, fined and then they can come back and APPLY for citizenship like others have.

    I also think that we need to ALLOW our border patrol and now the National Guard to actually do their job and NOT ALLOW them into the country. This is enforced I believe at our Northern Borders why is not enforeced in our Southern Border? The guards (both NG and BP) should be able to fire over the illegals head and order them to stop, and then they should be picked up , given something to drink and transported to the border and detained in Mexico (or any other place) by that goverments authority and then they should be sent back to their homeland.

    I think that everyone that is here illegally should return or be returned to their country of origin. All the “experts” say this is impossible, so, plan B. Since the powers that be (not We the People by the way) will “fix it” to where they can stay, take that number, lets say 12 mil (conservative) (probably closer to 20 mil) and divide it by the number of allowable legal immigrants per year, that should equal approximately 30 years. Suspend all immigration for that 30 years until we balance back out. If any legal immigration is allowed to occur during that 30 years, that same number of previously illegal aliens will have to be deported to maintain the balance. Plan B is contingent on the borders being closed prior to initiation, naturally! But since nothing like plan B or, even better, much more sensible actions will ever be taken, I think I will see the end of the United States of America happen in my lifetime (I am 58). It was such a beautiful dream, such a tragedy to end this way!!

    Instead of giving amnesty to those who have broken the law - reach out to those who haven’t - or at least to those who are in Mexico at the onset. Offer them the ability to live & work in the U.S. for a specific period of time giving them some kind of non-reproducible green card (maybe a computer chip under the skin) Announce that we will be allowing x million people in each year - reviewing the applicant need annually and adjusting accordingly. Make their entry fee affordable - maybe even allow time payments. Levy heavy sanctions or fines on those employers that are hiring illegals so that they will only hire those who are documented. Strictly enforce this. Suggest those wanting to work in the U.S. should go back to Mexico so that they will be able to take advantage of this oppertunity. I imagine familes sending their working members back to Mexico while they wait in the U.S. for them to come back legally. I believe this way we won’t have a sudden influx of people anticipating amnisty - rather a sudden evacuation of people wanting the oppertunity to work here without fear.

    It is simple… Like Fred Thompson said “SECURE THE BORDER AND Enforce the laws we already have on the books and then go from there” . The person(s) that do this will be a hero. Change the amendment that gives citizenship to EVERYONE born here. We cannot support an unlimited number of people. It must stop somewhere. Water is going to be more valuable than fuel the way this country is going.

    Number one is enforce the borders! Second, for people who are here now,
    within a time period (one year example) they apply for a green card, or national id card, or they are deported, without the ID. Third, after that same time period (one year example) any employer who employs a person w/o the ID card is heavily fined, $100,000 per employee. Fourth; the current illegals, do not get put in front of anyone who is in line for citizenship. Revise the citizenship time period,and the monitary requirements. But also, allow the same requirements reduction, to benefite anyone who is in the process, for citizenship now. Fifth; anyone with a criminal background from their home country, or they comment a crime in the US, are deported, period. Lastly, issue work only ID cards (good for only one or two years, with only one renewal)for those who do not want citizenship, but also penalize, employers who hire those without the work ID card, and enforce the law!!!

    I don’t really believe that any immigration “bill” will solve the problem. The problem begins with securing the border. Period. Then and only then should we work on the folks already in the country.

    We used to love it here, but my family is leaving. Since nothing can apparently be done to stop the obvious out of control crime in Phoenix, our family has seen enough. I feel sorry for the police. They have no control, but it’s not really their fault. I would be willing to fight with them, but then I would be arrested. As the neighborhood homeowners meetings report more and more break ins, theft, and threats, it is now very clear. Phoenix no longer belongs to the people who have a right to live here. Goodbye Phoenix. Good luck to you.

    Build the “FENCE”. Stop these out of control, illegal actions. They are not immigrants. My forefathers at least came here legally, I’m third generation.
    Kick out anyone who is not legally here.
    Allow our enforcement officers to shoot back when shot at.
    Make a difference that sends a message. Do it right or don’t try.

    I believe the problem starts with Mexico and its border policy or not having a policy. Are there UN laws that Mexico is breaking by allowing their people to just cross the border illegally (invasion laws)? Mexico needs to be held responsible, but you never hear about holding them accountable. Anyway, enforce our laws we have now and fine the employers for hiring illegals. Aren’t the employers also breaking the law? Also persecute all illigal criminals for breaking our laws. We don’t get away with breaking our laws. Why do they? That just gives them the idea that we are a lawless country and anything goes. Also the parents should have to be here legally before the children can be legal.

    1. Enforce the law
    2. Build a virtual/actual fence
    3. All persons in law enforcement check immigration status
    4. Trespassing on US soil is a forever-allegeable felony, which will prevent a person from ever getting legal status
    5. Post a border guard in every hospital in the U.S. - you can get your tax-payer paid emergency treatment as required by law, but you can’t stay here illegally
    6. Stop the misreading of the Constitution - illegal immigrants can’t give birth to a U.S. citizen
    7. Deport all illegal and legal immigrants that commit any crime (right now, many are not deported despite many misdemeanors and even if they have a felony)
    8. No welfare for any illegal or legal immigrants
    9. English the official language of the United States

    We need a one year moritorium on the border. Nobody in, nobody out unless its (e)commerce related. Enact Grandfather clause to all immigrants of all walks that have resided in the United States for more than 25 and one day /years an automatic stay of relief of all immigration laws and are now free and legal citizens of the United States (with the proper registration no U.S. citizen sponsorship). Tier structure with U.S. Citizenship sponship (friend/relative/spouse/sibling from 24-20 years. 19-15 years, 14-10 years, 9-5 years, and 4-1 years. 4-1 years must return home if cannot prove 1 years of (steady employment). Istall 30 stay across border 4-1years *note legal stipulations apply to all immigrants 15-1 years. Do employment survey both internal and external to brainstorm what companies to create in Mexico to stop the flow and then provide same dollar amount economic value at the border (same pay initiatives). All U.S. Companies get 1 year moritorium and legal stay of any prosecution under current immigration law. All companies have 1 year to re-register employees whom come clean under a 1 year moritorium blanket stay i.e, new ssn# new emplyment I9 now paying into proper federal systems (fica/federal taxes no slush fund). — I could go on… Homeland Security Immigration Act 2008 - Its finished its been submitted, its reality vs Amnesty because Amnesty is Reality. “Let it Go America”

    ALL ILLEGALS MUST BE SENT BACK TO THEIR COUNTRY, AND GO THROUGH THE SAME PROCESS ALL IMMIGRANTS GO THROUGH. THAT’S ONLY FAIR…AND JUST….AND LEGAL….NO IFS, ANDS OR BUTS. THEY MUST ADHERE TO THIS COUNTRY’S LAWS..SIMPLE - NO EXCUSES. IF YOU CAN GATHER A VOLUNTARY TASK FORCE TO ENFORCE THIS, AND GO DOOR TO DOOR, STOP VEHICLES, ETC. (THERE ARE PLENTY OF AMERICANS THAT WOULD VOLUNTEER FOR THIS SERVICE - AND IT WOULD WORK). MAYBE 1-2 POLICE OFFICERS TO LEAD A GROUP, AND ASK FOR A GREEN CARD, IF THERE IS NONE, HAVE A BUS WAITING. THOSE WHO SEE THE BUS AND KNOW, WILL FLEE….SEND THEM BACK ON THE NEXT BUS. THEY MUST ONLY BE ALLOWED TO BE HERE LEGALLY.     Forget the immigration bill. No changes necessary. Build the fence first. From San Diego to Brownsville. Then go after illegals. The problem must be under control before any policy can even think about being effective.

    Annex Mexico. Perferrably by supporting grass roots reform internally. We would have to force some of the wealthy and government officials who have been oppressing the population to leave and or redistribute their wealth and property. Start out by making Mexicao a territory and eventially move individual Mexican states into the country as they set up their local state governments based on our constitution with all of the same rules the rest of us have. This would also make a much smaller land bridge to control than our present border. Perhaps we can get Canada to join us as well! After all that seems to be what some want anyway. A replica of the EU in North America. And who cares if we go bi-lingual, almost everything comes in Spanish as well as English now anyway. I draw the line at including French though. No French speaking please.

    50 words is not enough! A green card must be held for at least five years prior to citizenship. Green card applicant must either have family legally in US or be married to a US citizen who can support them if necessary, or have legally acquired work prior to entry, they must pass medical checks, prove they will not be a financial burden on the country, have no criminal record, pay taxes and be domiciled in the USA. After five years language and civics tests can be taken and, if passed, citizenship is granted. If remaining on a green card, re-registration is required every ten years and notification of change of name or address must be made. Pretty much what I had to do when I emigrated. Arrests for felonies automatically lead to deportation after sentence. Illegal entry - home you go!

    My 50 words to Congress for immigration reform: Fund the existing immigration & border-security laws that were enacted by Congress in 1986 but never enforced because they were never funded. Also, give each citizen one forge-proof Social Security card. Finally, build a real border fence for the entire 2,000 miles now.

    1. Most important. Must speak English. Everything in English, no push 1 for English and 2 for Spanish. (You don’t see press 3 for Japan or Chinese or any other language!) stop making so easy for them and maybe they will make their own country a better place!
    3. Treat illegal like we have been treating our own. Meaning, we leave people out in the summer heat to die, not in the desert but in our very own cities.
    4. Stronger penalties for hiring illegals.
    5. Babies born to illegals should remain illegal not automatic U.S. citizens.
    6. No instate tuition!
    7. take over Mexico!
    7. No bond for illegals!

    make it illegal for any non-us citizen to every get a valid green card/citizenship if they are convicted or known to be a sex offender, and/or any sex related crime towards a child. set up a backwards order of processing residency paperwork; eg if you are here as of 1/2007 then you go the the back of the line behind others who have filed the proper way. if you have been here over ten years then pay prove that you have paid taxes under any ss number, then put them in front of the others who have been here recently.

    I’m trying to find the place on your web site, to BLOG about the immigration laws regarding the show you’re doing this morning.

    America is know for their generosity and helping third world nations.
    If our Mexican brothers are crossing the border because it is so much better here, (and I believe it is) why aren’t we treating Mexico as an impoverished, third world country, and help them make it better there so they won’t be so hot to get over here.

    I’ll bet if India or Ethiopia shared a border with us they would look like the enemy and we’d be hunting them down and trying to keep them out.

    America is spending millions on keeping illegals out. Maybe we can cure this problem before it starts.

    Close the border! Build an impenetrable fence! Construct tent cities to process, fingerprint and retain illegals if needed and then send them home forever! Stop citizenship for babies born on U.S. soil by illegal aliens. Life imprisonment in tent cities for coyotes involved in human smuggling. Enforce penalities on businessess that employ illegals. Create forge-proof national ID cards for all legal U.S. citizens. No tuition or social services for illegals. Never let an illegal go on his/her own recognizance. Put them in tent cities! Let them build their own fence, their own prisions. Stop the free ride before it is too late. Our country is in a downhill tailspin and if illegal immigration is not controlled, it will cease to exist as we know it. Want to help someone, help our own!

    #4- No more money allotment to Mexico

    Senator McCain,

    The new “Immigration Reform Bill” that you are backing is an attack on our nation’s sovereignty and is a dishonor to our people. As a sovereign nation, we have laws that make traveling into our country without permission illegal. The “Bill” that you continue to champion does not represent your constituency in this state or the country. Please remember the oath that you took as a United States Navel Officer to protect and defend this country from enemy’s foreign and domestic, and your pledge as a United States Senator to adhere to this Country’s Laws under the Constitution. Your current stance is in direct conflict with these oaths you swore to uphold.

    Please reject this current “Immigration Reform Bill” and propose a new bill with these basic components:

    1. Close and secure the Southern Border with a hardened uninterrupted fence supplemented by technological surveillance.
    2. All illegal aliens in this country must be documented, finger printed and issued temporary guest worker cards to gain any type of employment.
    3. Any person/company found hiring illegal aliens without documentation will be imprisoned and fined.
    4. Additional taxes will be issued to these temporary workers to compensate costs inflicted on our healthcare facilities.
    5. No guest workers will collect social security, disability, unemployment or federal health care.
    6. Illegal aliens without federal documentation, found in this country within one year of Bills establishment will be held in work camps. These camps will be comprised of a “Tent Prison” system where they will work on federal jobs to compensate the cost of the camp.
    7. To become a citizen you must remain documented for a period of 10 years. During this time you must be employed, be clear of any criminal activity, and speak and write English. (This will add people to this country that are educated and have a strong desire to be an American)
    8. Any criminal activity will result in imprisonment and/or deportation.

    Senator, please hear the people you were elected to serve and adhere to our nations laws. If you continue to deviate from “The Peoples Will” you will alienate yourself from the voters in the 2008 election season and from your faithful Arizona Republicans. Please be the leader and patriot you have been in the past and lead this country the way you were intended to. Our nation’s future depends on your actions now!

    We should pass a bill that states America will not grant Amnesty to any illegal alien forever.

    Want citizenship? Must be able to speak, read and write in clear English. Must be fingerprinted, photographed and pass a thorough background check no matter how long it takes and have a spotless record. Must serve in the U.S. military for a minimum of three years prior to legal status or do community service. Must pay back taxes. You want it bad enough, work for it and pay for it. One strike and you’re out - commit a crime and Adios! No voting status prior to fulfilling above commitments and waiting five years. No waving foreign flags. You want to be an American, act like one! No free ride. You want education, medical care, social security benefits - work for it and pay for it. Money made in the U.S. stays in the U.S. Don’t like it? Go home!

    America is known for their generosity and helping third world nations.

    I think that any illegal needs to do an automatic military sentence to 3 tours of duty in Iraq or Afganastan. I also think that they should be REQUIRED to speak English. We do not need to make it easy for anyone coming to this country. It is a PRIVILIDGE to be an AMERICAN not a RIGHT for outsiders. FREEDOM (for anything) is not free it does cost alot. No seperation of the language. If you go to another country you are required to know that language or have an interputer. No ONE and I don’t care where you come from should be given a free pass. ENFORCE THE LAWS ALREADY ON THE BOOKS…. SECURE THE BORDER WITH A FENCE!!!!

    Stop all tax payer benefits for illegal immigrants. Stop allowing them to be a financial burden on this country.
    Allow our local police, border and national guard to secure our country.
    Secure our border now. Money has been allocated. Get busy. I do not want to see a mushroom cloud appearing in our skys.
    Children born in U.S. by illegals do not become immediate U.S. citizens.
    Post security at our hospitals, schools, government facilities etc… to check for legal status.
    Utilize our manpower in prisons to preform those jobs that supposedly we Americans will not do. Have farmers pay a decent wage. Portion will pay for guards, put a little in the inmates private savings account for when they are released.
    Our politicans need to understand that its not what they want. It’s what we want in the way of policy. They need to start listening or we need to fire them. Wake up Americans things are not going well in our great country.
    How long are we to allow mismanagement to go on.

    For years we have heard how the Social Security System will go broke in a few years. Well guess what. Here goes the baby and the water, all together. All of a sudden, millions of new social security cards go out and millions of “disabled workers” start applying for benefits as a legal american citizen. The system goes down the tubes even sooner than ever thought. They payed very little in, if anything, and get what want just because they are part of the amnesty being offered.

    Social Security numbers should not be given until ANYONE is a full blown citizen and start paying into the sysstem like everyone else that are part of the system. The Social Security System will go broke even sooner with all of these illegals. The illegals just drewel at the thought of income the rest of their lives.

    Well, when the time comes for that social security income, having payed in a little, but worked mostly mostly for under the table pay, they will receive the minimum income. But, that minimum times millions, will be terrible.

    Forget this bill, enforce the borders and deal with those here. Enforce the 1986 law nd then start a process still to be determined.

    It is very necessary to stop the influx by sealing the border with fences and the technology that is available. Stop any and ALL immigration from all countries until this mess is sorted out. Give law enforcement the tools and or bullets necessary to stop the migration north. By doing this, the word will get back down south and they will think twice before coming across the border.
    As for the ones already here, apply for citizenship like everyone else has done and they must account for their time here for the length of time that they have been here. As illegals are picked up for traffic citations, etc., they will be put on the bus back.

    Things I would like to see in the immigration reform bill:

    1. Serve in the military or a public works project for three years minimum. Eligable (or considered) for citizenship only after completing these requirements.
    2. Work for the federal minimum wage if placed on public works projects.
    3. Exported to country of origin if refuse to comply or do not complete requirements of number 1. above.
    4. Subject to all taxes (i.e. federal, state, fica, etc). No one works for “under-the-table” wages.
    5. Must speak English at all work sites.
    6. Steep fines for businesses hiring illegals regardless of the size of the employers work force.
    7. Complete background checks for anyone seeking citizenship.
    8. No citizenship granted to those with criminal records, those associated with gangs, or certain political or terrorist groups
    9. Nothing given free (i.e. credit cards, social security cards, driver’s license, etc) until three years of service, background checks, etc. have been completed.
    10. Children born in the U.S. do not automatically make the parents citizens.
    11. No in-state tuition allowed for illegals until they have completed all requirements of citizenship for federal and state.
    12. No voting privilages until all citizenship requirements have been met.

    People need to adhere to our laws and understand our values. If they want to enter our country fine, but do it legally and not soak up our resources, ER rooms etc. when we have a family member there for stroke and they have to wait because there are not enough beds to the illegals there with colds, or drug overdoses,e tc. I also think some of the illegals seem to have an attitude problem, e.g., they are above the law and should be treated like they are special. In summary, if they can not follow our laws, send them back at their expense.

    Darryl, all immigration from Mexico should be halted until the Mexican govt works to solve the border problem. Everyone here undocumented should be give 6 months to identify themselves. They should also be told that they have no chance of citizenship unless they leave and return thru a new established process once the borders are secured. Anyone caught after 6 months that has not identified themselves should be sent packing, i.e. delivered across the border. I would also like the Constitution changed. Anyone born here to illegal parents would not receive automatic citizenship. The expense of delivering illegal children should be billed to the corrupt Mexican govt to be repaid in barrels of oil. I will be looking to sign the recall petitions for Kyl and McCain as soon as I hear they are available. Thank you.

    The one thing I’d like to see, as a requirement for citizenship, would be that the applicant demonstrate a basic proficientness in the English language. I realize that this is a lost battle (I knew it was lost years ago when McDonalds began posting their menu in both English and Spanish; by-the-way … how about a menu in German or Swedish for those of us who want to retain something of our heritage as well). Such a requirement would not only be beneficial for the nation at large, it would also help the prospective new citizen as well.

    P.S. Obviously McDonalds (and other Business’) is not providing multi-language menus just because their trying to be nice or helpfull. They recognize the business opportunity, and their actions are profit driven. It’s a sad comment on our society that we are more interested in making money than we are in doing what is right. If you’re ever a little puzzeled about how politics works, just follow the money trail, and things will become much clearer.

    I have always lived close to the border; first in San Diego and now in Phoenix. I do not understand how “We The People” keep electing individuals who seem incapable of reading, comprehending, and applying our CURRENT laws. However, because of our elected officials, we have brought this on ourselves. Why have we allowed our classrooms to be taught in Spanish? Why are so many of our products, services, etc. printed in Spanish and English? I have a question for everyone, why do we give MVD test in Spanish? If you can’t read English, you shouldn’t get a drivers license…..SIMPLE. Why do illegals have MORE rights than citizens?
    Now we get to act surprised that another “amnesty-style” bill is being argued. How sad that we have done this to ourselves!!
    I will not vote for ANY individual who gives this one a thumbs up vote.

How long can we absorb the least educated and lowest skilled people at this rate? Securing the border may never stop the bleeding entirely but lets at least slow it down and give our country a chance. Lets go Senators! America wants this.

    OK, I think all of this HO HA! about how to detour this mass illegal immigration
    has become way too complicated(by design)
    1.If you are caught in, or entering this country illegally you will be fingerprinted photo I.D.ed and placed into a national registry of aliens that have forfeited their PRIVILEGE of EVER becoming an American citizen.

    2.If you are caught in, or entering this country illegally you will be fined
    HEAVILY, and imprisoned until such fine has been paid. If unable to pay then you must serve the time in a work camp to serve a prescribed length of time to satisfy the outstanding fine.(building roads, border fences, etc.)

    3.We MUST stop ALL employers from hiring illegals. Heavy fines, loss of business licenses, imprisonment.

    You can NOT expect America to welcome you as a citizen if the very first thing you do is break our laws. America has always opened her arms to ALL immigrants since day 1, but it has become much more complicated and lengthy to legally become a citizen, only due to the oppression of other countries of their people, and the attacks on our nation.
    If you TRULY want to become an American then WALK THE WALK, and TALK THE TALK!!!!

    The current Bill under review by Congress is too complex to be properly interpreted and enforced. To be effective, immigration law must be clear, concise and easily understood by those that will be putting it into action. A proposed new bill should contain these basic components:

    1.0) Provide for means of enforcement and funding of immigration law.

    2.0) Revamp current immigration application process to allow special provisions for applicants of U.S. border countries. Work towards increasing the number of accepted applications for citizenship based upon what the current U.S. economy will bear.

    2.1) Streamline the process so that an application can be accepted or denied within 6 months. If application is accepted, the person shall be given temporary resident status and allowed to work. Citizenship may be granted once an applicant in temporary status has met specific requirements (For example: Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English; pass exams that demonstrate knowledge of U.S customs and history; Pass a back ground check with no criminal convictions of any type).
    2.2) A guest worker program for those that do not wish to pursue citizenship. Guest workers must pay local and federal taxes, but are exempt from Social Security and Welfare deductions, as Guest Workers are ineligible to receive these benefits. Guest Worker permits shall expire after a specified amount of time (2 years), and they are renewable only once.
    2.3) There should be special provisions to allow willing qualified individuals to serve a tour of duty in the United States armed forces. Citizenship will be granted upon honorable discharge.
    2.4) An applicant or individual found to already be within the United States will be permanently denied citizenship, a work permit and deported to their country of origin. We must not reward those that have chosen to disregard our current laws.
    3.0) Trespassing on U.S. soil by a foreign national is a felony, and will prevent a person from ever gaining U.S. citizenship or a work permit.
    4.0) Any person/company found hiring immigrants without legal documentation will be imprisoned and fined by a significant amount.
    5.0) The birth of a child by a person in the United States illegally will not automatically grant citizenship to that child.
    6.0) Guest workers will not be able to collect social security, disability, unemployment or federal health care for time spent working in the U.S.
    7.0) No person currently in the country illegally will be allowed access to government services (Unemployment, Welfare, Food Stamps, Disability, etc.).
    8.0) All law enforcement personnel must check immigration status and detain suspected illegals until Border Patrol can take custody.
    9.0) English should be made the official language of the United States

    I’m sure there are more items that should be included, but I believe these initial steps would build a strong foundation for us to build upon.

    SECURE THE BORDERS! Then, a little compasion for the Mexicans who risked much for a chance for a better life in America. (plus we can use those workers) I am NOT suggesting amnesty, maybe just a “don’t ask don’t tell” policy if they are not causing any problems. THROW OUT THE ONES WHO CAUSE ANY TROUBLE. Not grant citizenship to those just because they were born here. Expect everyone to learn English! I’m sure this is not the total solution, but I believe it is a pretty good start.

    One of the Roosevelts said it best in a speech but I can not find it, esentially if you imagrate here you do it legally, you learn the language etc.

    My two cents is that we do not grant amnesty, we give preference to families whose children have been born here.

    Each person no matter what country they came from would be required to return home and complete a process for entry like it is supposed to be done, or a new one. Each applicant pays all costs we incur to have the necesary background checks etc.

    A guest worker program is a great idea if they workers we allow are qualified, (verifiable) for open jobs. Two there would have to be a time limit they could stay but that time period be long enough to allow them to meet the requirments for U.S. Citizenship. (hard to do for seasonal laborers, maybe give them 4 or 5 seasons to complete) Each worker has a SS # and pays taxes, etc.

    Because we are such a great nation and because we have so many wanting to live here, we need to make it a far more difficult challenge to become a citizen, we must not forget for those not born here it is a privilege to be here! (And at the same time for those born here we can export them elesewhere when they do not show the gratitude they should!)

    Borders need to be closed, security tighened, rules made more stringent, take all those here illegally off assistance programs, etc. Not many are opposed to anyone imigrating here if they do it the right way, and then they demonstrate that they should be giving citizenship, etc.

    I am all for helping others and all of that, but we can not help everyone, it is breaking us. We can however have a system that is as fair as possible, that allows them to EARN citizenship, EARN what I have had to EARN for the past 60 years! I know I was born here, but I have paid for the priviledge in taxes, in military service, in being a member of a charity, and in commuity service work, and I have never broken the law.

    In other words I am average! But I am no longer in the majority if we as a nation continue to allow others from anywhere to walk right in, sit right down and collect and abuse what we have as individuals and a nation worked so hard to develop!

    WE NEED TO PRESERVE OUR HERITAGE, OUR WAY OF LIFE AND OUR COUNTRY!     First of all we need an unduplicatable ID card. Without that card, no one can apply for ACCESS, without that card, no child can be enrolled in school - grade school through college. No health care can be obtained(if we were in Mexico, we wouldn’t get care until we PAY) without that card no one can apply for Social Security (SS is almost bankrupt, lets not push it along). We need to change the law permitting children born of Illegal parents automatic citizenship. If we do these things, and allow a guestworker program only if a job is promised and only for designated time, no fence need be built and very little border patrol. They will go home, all 20 to 25 million of them.

    First, we stop giving non-citizens the benifits of being a citizen such as free healthcare, walfare, and social security. Next we open offices along the borders that will allow people to come into the U.S. legally after going through a “DMV” type line were we photograph, fingerprint, DNA sample, and dental xray them into a shared national database for a reasonable fee that would pay for the employees, buildings, creating the database, etc. Once the immigrate passes through the line they will get a 5 yr. working ID card that will enable them to work in the U.S. but will not give them the benifits of being a citizen. Their paychecks will be taxed at the same rate as everyone else. After 2 years the immigrate can then apply and pay the legal fees to become a citizen. The only way to get the ID card is to come from outside the country into the U.S. this will encourage those already here to leave and come back in legally. Doing these steps will allow us to provide a safe and reasonalbe way for those wanting to become a citizen or just work here a way without encouraging them to do it illegally. Now that we can provide that we can work on the next part of the problem. All businesses can gain access to the nation database to verify the legal status of all employees. Any business failing to comply will pay a heavy fine on the first offense, second offense shut down for up to 1 year, and third offense is jail time. Now a lot of people will ask how to pay for all this. Use the tax money you are collecting from those coming through the borders legally, and the money saved now by not giving it to those who are not citizens, and it should pay for the extra jails, extra personell, etc. and probably still have extra for the other citizens.

    I’m all for learning a different language; however, I do believe that everyone should know how to speak English.

    If you want to be a citizen you should take a class on the history of the United States, even though every other countries history is here.

    If you want to be a citizen you should take a lie detector test or hypnosis. This will allow us to see why you are really here. Are you here to harm the country or harm someone? Everyone should also have a background check to make sure their isn’t a warrant for them in another country, etc.

    If you want to be a citizen you CAN NOT be on any state assistance for so many years to show that you are stable and not trying to just live off of the citizens that pay taxes. You need to pay taxes too. No offense but I am a single, black mother of two kids and receive no state assistance, I don’t feel like supporting everyone body who just wants a free ride.
    I understand needing help, but wow!

    If you want to be a citizen and you commit a serious offense such as murder or rape you should either receive the maximum punishment or be banned from the country.

    For those who are already here illegally and are sexual preditors need to be castraded and kicked out the country!!!

    The first step in getting the illegal aliens under control is to hold the employers accountable for hiring them. The employers must be heavily fined for hiring illegal aliens with absolutely no loopholes in the law. This alone would take care of most of the aliens. If they can’t work, they will go home. Second, we need more border patrol with the authority to carry weapons and use them.
    There will be no backing for my ideas because President Bush wants a socialist country. There will eventually be no middle class because we can’t support all of the illegals. I predict there will be a civil war because the citizens will get tired of working to support illegals with no skills who don’t believe in birth control. Our country will be totally overrun with people who will not assimilate and don’t even love our country. They are loyal to Mexico! We have to stop worrying about being called racists and hold a huge, huge, huge march!

    You know what, this pisses me off big time!!! I am 27 years old, born and raised in ASIA. I came to this country when i was 14, LEGALLY. I waited almost 10 years just to get here. I went through the whole entire process such as dealing with a lot of paperwork, paid proccessing fees, medical examination, and a plane ticket. When i got here in the U.S. i waited 5 more years to be eligable to file for citizenship, and another year for the proccessing and of course that invloves more fees which i dont mind paying at all because in the end everything that i waited, and worked hard for will pay off. I am very proud to be an American citizen, and greatfull for what this country did to me, but it upsets me that our U.S. politicians will grant these illegal aliens citizenship, and all the benefits that come along with it. Any foreigner that wants to come and live in this country must fall in line just like the rest of us that came here legally. We already have enough problems on gangs, drugs, babies having babies, crimes in general, and the list goes on. All of these will just get worse if this immigration reform bill passes. I know what its like to live in a third world country, and trust me my fellow Americans, you dont want to know, that is why i came here to live in the U.S.. Opening our borders is just like opening the gates of hell that will lead to this country’s downfall, but there is still time left to prevent this from happening. These illegal aliens will suck this country dry, and the people who cares for this country will be the ones that will end up suffering. This country is so great, and i hate to see it go down. Forget about calling these Senators over the phone because they wont answer, if you want to be heard protest, march to the streets, go to the nations capitol, do whatever it takes to be heard. this is our counrty, and we must protect it at all cost to have a better future.     1. No more anchor babies!!!! Born to illegal, babies are illegal.
    2. Criminally prosecute employers who hire illegals. From “daily labor” employers to corporations! Prosecute ALL!
    3. Build the fence!!!!!
    4. Charge the Goverments of the illegals the cost of education, health/medical, and prison/jailing of their people! Plus a “service” charge for having to deal with it all.
    5. Prosecute on all levels of goverment the illegals for all crimes committed. i.e identy theft, fraud-tax and wire, trafficing offenses etc.
    6. Build “tent city”type of prisons/detention centers in the HOT deserts to hold the illegals. Then send them there! First time caught- 6 months time. 2nd time - a year, 3rd time-2 years, fourth time- 4 years etc. After time served, deport! Life emprisonment for all smugglers and “coyotes”!
    7. Then last of all after all the others have been implaced; form a Agricultural/ Janitorial worker program to import those who truely want to do the work “that Americans wont do.” Not for the skilled jobs they are now taking away from Americans.

    I think that the U.S. government needs to be more harder on all ilegals here in AZ. I read some of these comments and they are all
    good ideas. If only the Government would pickup on these ideas. They need to follow up on all workers and give them a work card and keeping track on them and their activeties, they are so many crimnals that live here. They are killing our budget on welfare and hospitals costs etc.etc…
    They dont give a fat darn about about our government, as long as they get a check and more free extras, I work along with a lot of them and so many are illegals with false names and SS. #’s,. They all know someone that helps them get here to work.
    They want to live here but dont want to pay for it. Why does’nt the government hire some informals to find these illegals in work comanpies, and report them to the Immg. (I would do it if they had a program like it,) ther’ve everywhere in the cities.Our government needs to do something very soon, or Az. will become Mexico very soon.

    1. In order for a newborn to obtatin citizenship at least one parent must be a legal citizen.
    2. All public aid must be stopped including: Education, Health Care, WIC, and Welfare. (If you shut down the rides at Disneyland you only have two options. Stay and spend your money at the gift shops, or go home and think about buying a ticket next time.)
    I believe these two amendments would be the most effective way to force immigrants to follow our laws. I believe defending our border against possible terrorist threats should be a completely seperate bill.

    First, put into place a computer clearing house for employers to confirm eligiblility of employability. If the Government says that this is too complicated to be done, how on earth do they think they’ll do ANYTHING they say they plan to do to assure their future immigration laws are kept? Such as it is, the IRS is able to do it. There is no excuse for this lack on the part of our Government except for their stubborn unwillingness to do something they personally are against in the first place.

    Next, enforce our current laws and further strengthen them by making it a felony offence to break those laws, something along the lines of contempt of Congress. This would be punishable by $100K (from the employer) per illegal individual per offence. After 3 separate incidents of being caught employing illegals, the Owner / CEO of said company will get a year in the Federal Pen, mingling with the general population of such. If that same company continues to hire illegals the replacment or next-in-line down from CEO gets the same proverbial axe. The illegal individual, and his illegal family, will have their posessions confiscated (much like a drug dealer), and after processing with a Record that includes photos and DNA samples of all members of the family, they will immediately be deported, returning to their country with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. The take will be given to goodwill and any cash taken will be split among the many hospitals who are currently forced to render aid to illegals.

    Just a thought - if U.S. citizens didn’t have to pony up so much of their income to pay for services and benefits used by illegals, our taxes would be lower, creating an instant “pay raise”. Also, employers would be able to offer higher wages if they were relieved of their tax burden (the part that sponsors illegal healthcare, welfare, education, etc.)

    Regarding citizenship and anchor babies: The constitution of the United States does not grant citizenship at birth to just anyone who happens to be born within American borders. It is the allegiance (complete jurisdiction) of the child’s birth parents at the time of birth that determines the child’s citizenship–not geographical location. If the United States does not have complete jurisdiction, for example, to compel a child’s parents to Jury Duty–then the U.S. does not have the total, complete jurisdiction demanded by the Fourteenth Amendment to make their child a citizen of the United States by birth. How could it possibly be any other way?

    The framers succeeded in their desire to remove all doubt as to what persons are or are not citizens of the United States. They also succeeded in making both their intent and construction clear for future generations of courts and government. Whether our government or courts will start to honor and uphold the supreme law of the land for which they are obligated to by oath, is another very disturbing matter.

    The big excuss employers use for hiring Illegal Aliens is the lack of reliable verification of eligibility to work. Congress needs to provide a reliable verification system which should have been part of the 1986 law.

    We need to stiffen the penalties and agressively enforce our current work law.

    If Congress can prove they can & will enforce our current laws, then it will be time to look at other legislation. Until then No & H..L No to more unenforceable laws.

    I believe that we have to seal the borders before first even before passing a bill covering what to do with the present illegals. Second citizenship only be granted to babies born in the US with parents that are in this country legally.Last I would like to see a guest worker program but with no road to citizenship and if thier job goes away they must return home no welfare no SS . All guest workers would have to get in line with all other for a visa with everyone else seeking to come to the US ledally

    Anyone caught here illegally, should be deported immediately–their name then black-listed from being able to apply for citizenship for five years. If caught again, they should be sent to a prison on the border of Mexico, where they will have to spend 9 months building a wall along our border, without pay. Then deported again, NEVER to be allowed to come back and be a citizen. If this is commonly known, those that desperately want to be here will think twice about doing it illegally. Oh, and those applying for citizenship MUST be able to pass a test in which they speak english.

    Unfortunately, the US needs to stop the hand-outs. It is hard to deny a child access to school or a sick or injured person medical care, but the solution has to start somewhere. If people need financial or medical help or apply for what we taxpayers fund and it is determined they are here illegally, they should be taken into custody. Sherrif Joe’s tent cities are what we need to detain illegals before they are deported. If it is not possible to deport them, make them join work details or provide useful labor in the prison system. Oh, and have them take English classes. If Sherrif Joe can turn around substance abusers, he can make sure illegals learn English. If we are stuck with them, let’s get some benefit! If after 5 years they have proven themselves as hard-working and they can speak/read English, then offer them the opportunity to get a green card. Then the citizenship process could continue from there. If a child is born in the US but the parents are here illegally, the whole family should be deported and the child not given citizenship. If that is not possble, send them to the tent cities.Thank goodness we are a country who believes in helping those who need our help - but our kindness is being abused and it has got to stop.

    5. Emergency healthcare only - that means you’ll die without it. You will be billed for the cost, so be ready to pay just like the rest of us. No more tying up our hospital ERs or forcing them to shut. This is OUR healthcare system and our ERs are not meant to treat common everyday illnesses!
    6. ENGLISH IS THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE - PERIOD!!! No more translations of any kind. If you come here, you MUST learn the language! Shouldn’t those wanting to come here be required to do a little work???
    7. NO EDUCATION benefits of any kind for any illegals - period! If you have the legal right to be here, then that is a different story.
    8. NO BENEFITS to illegals - no welfare, no SS, no nothing - only life sustaining emergency care.
    9. PUNISHMENT for anyone caught assisting illegals - prison terms, hefty fines. This includes religious establishments! Any non-profit found to be helping illegals will lose their non-profit status.
    10. Law enforcement at every level should have the absolute right to check the legal status of anyone they wish and take steps to handle those they discover are illegal.
    11. Develop tamper proof driver’s licenses and SS cards.
    12. Do not allow anyone to get either if they cannot speak ENGLISH!
    13. Must past English test in order to eventually become a citizen.
    14. Any job that needs to be filled must be offered to American citizens first. Then and only then can a legal foreign worker be given the opportunity. No more trying to beat the system by offering slave wages or under the table wages.
    15. No credit cards, loans, mortgages, etc. to anyone not in this country legally. No renting to anyone illegal either.
    16. Foreigners coming to this country must attrition into OUR way of life! No more turning pockets of our country into little Mexicos or little Asias, etc. Become an American if you are here legally or go back home.
    This is just a start…Tell Congress if they can’t round up these illegals and ship them home, then how in the heck did they expect to enforce that piece of crap they tried to ram down our throat this week? Who is going to make sure every illegal touches their home soil before returning to this country? Give me a break!

    Fred Thompson has my vote - follow the law on the books.
    Build a wall to keep out all illegals, terrorists etc.
    Border Patrol agents have the orders to shot to kill. That would stop many after a few took a hit. We have to protect our USA cause if we don’t we are all going down. Look at what happened to hospitals, if any illegal comes turn them away. Why should the the citizens have to pay the price of losing what has been for us for decades. FIRE POLITICIANS THAT DO NOT FOLLOW THE OATHS AND TAKE AWAY ALL THOSE CHECKS AFTER THEY ARE OUT OF OFFICE. TELL THEM IT IS FOR WHAT THE ILLEGALS HAVE CAUSED IN DAMAGES ETC.     The first, most important issue is building the fence that was promised. This fence needs to be high tech to stop tunneling and climb overs using good equipment. Then, the current laws should be enforced. Legal immigration, using all possible safeguards, should be followed. Stop giving benefits to non-Americans. They should get the same amount we would be given if we were visiting in their country. Protect our country’s future!

    I agree with all the points made by True American, and would add a few:

    1) no in-state tuition for illegals.

    2) Illegals should not be allowed to post bond when they are arrested. They are by nature a flight risk.

    3) We should be deducting all legal (court and prison), medical and education expenses incurred by illegals from any foreign aid or other monies we provide to their countries of origination. That money should be used to reimburse state and local governments and agencies like hospitals who are now having to eat those costs.

    4) We should interview all illegals captured to find out who is hiring them, and punish the employers to the full extent of the law.

    5) No anchor babies. They are perverting the purpose of the 14th Ammendment and this should stop.

    Aside from closing the border, we need to do something to eliminate the demand for illigal workers. If we take away the ability to get work, there won’t be an incentive for them to come.

    Why can’t we propose an “undocumented worker tax? Anyone who hires, rents to or otherwise aids illegal immigrant must pay additianl taxes. One of two way to to enforce could be, the higher number of illegals an employer hires, the higher the tax. If that proposal wouldn’t work, try it in reverse. All businesses that hire manual laborers pay the tax unless they are able to provide proper, current documentatin for 100% of their employees. If we can’t enforce the law to keep them from hiring, at least we could recooperate some of the expense incurred from the drain on our health providers, education system and other “free” services

    1.) Mandantory 3 year sentence in Federal Prison and $500,000 fine, per illegal alien, for any company owner or individual who hires an illegal alien. If company is publically traded this would include all Board Members, President, VP, CEO, etc. and the top 3 stock holders. The money collected from these fimes will help fund Item 2.
    2.) A $200 reward in the form of cash, US savings bond or tax deduction to any citizen who turns in an illegal alien for deportation. The person receiving the incentive could choose the form of payment. This would help our welfare recipients becasue they could pull themselves up by being self empolyed as illegal alien hunters.
    3.) Make it a federal law for all elected officials to disclose every and all of there investments and holdings as a requirement to be in office. Usually you can follow the money to find out why they vote the way they do. Hey, this may also help solve our high gas price issue!

    BUILD THE FENCE, then:

    1. Employers who hire illegals are fined AND mandatory time in tent city jails.

    2. No citizenship to babies born to NON citizens and revoke all citizenship to anyone who has gotten citizenship by this means.

    3. No free anything to non citizens - drivers licience/photo id’s provided by DMV can easily prove citizenship - a state database to confirm issueing of the ID will catch counterfit ID’s. If caught with a counterfit ID immediate arrest and TENT CITY.

    4. Illegals are sent to holding in TENT CITIES and deported within 30 days and can NEVER come back EVER. BTW –it should be just fine to PROFILE by race — if you look Mexican then the police should be able to ask for your ID and go to factories and construction sites, farms etc to find illegals –After all if you are hunting bear you go to where the bears are !

    If there is no free ride, employers are jailed who hire illegals many will go home on their own.

    I wholeheartedly agree with True American,Sibelius & John of Dallas. Legal immigration is the issue here. Enforcement of laws on the books would be a worthwhile start. The money has been allocated, so build the fence. There should not be any “free passes”. The drain on our social services is a serious issue for local and state governments and therefore taxpayers. Let’s talk about how Mexico treats people trying to sneak across their borders from the south.
    *We must also give our border enforcers “teeth”. They need to have the right to arrest and detain illegals coming across the border. If threatened, they have the right to protect themselves.
    *Those captured crossing the border illegally have no right to bond, but need to be sent back to Mexico. How about we bill Mexico for the legal processing and return to Mexico of these individuals.
    *We need to enter either fingerprints or retinal scans for these detained illegals into a national data base. This would allow for future identification of anyone trying to once again illegally enter this country.
    *Employers of illegals should be heavily penalized, thereby making it more costly than paying a living wage to legal residents of this country. This is not a question about people wanting or not wanting to work, but being able to make a wage that allows them to pay for child care, health benefits, food, shelter, etc.
    People who cross our borders illegally are breaking the laws of the U.S., let’s stop talking about whether they are terrorists or should be given amnesty. Let’s enforce our laws and safe guard our borders. Right now, Fred Thompson has my vote.

    We would like to see the following in the immigration Bill:
    1. That the 700 feet of wall voted by congress be built in the next 6 to 8 months.

    2. That each State be given additional law inforcement by the Federal Government to incarcerate the illegal criminals who have been criminally charged in each State but who have not returned for sentencing. That any illegals found in each State be deported and the Mexican Government be charged $5,000 for each illegal found in the USA to cover the enormous cost of building the fence, hi-tech equipment, paying for law enforcement, etc.

    3. That all the sub-titles in Spanish be removed from American businesses, on boxes of items bought in the store, and additional phone lines to help Spanish-speaking people who do not speak English.

    4. That businesses be charged a fine for hiring illegal immigrants and that landlords be charged a fine for renting to illegals.

    5. That fast food chains, such as McDonalds, Taco Bell, Taco Tia, be investigated. Most of these chains have only Mexican employees! Why

    6. That Senator John McCain come on KTAR and apologize for help to write the immigration bill and most of all for promoting it’s passage. How sad that he fought for the Mexicans and for the Arizona American Citizens who put him in office. We feel that Jon Kyl did not want this bill, but was cohoerced the Edward Kennedy to be on the committee to write this bill!

    No instate tuition should be granted. Why should our grandson, who lives in TX, and wants to go to College here, have to pay out of state tuition as the son of a man that repairs helicopters at Ft. Hood and the grandson of a Retired USArmy Master Sergeant. It isn’t fair!!

    They could get a lot of illegals near the churches on Sunday’s. Now the churches have to have Spanish services to accomadate the illegals when our ancestors had to learn English to work here. It isn’t fair to our American citizens.

    Make it illegal to provide UTILITY SERVICE to anyone who cannot provide proof they are here legally or with temporary approved status, granted visas, etc. Water, gas & electricity service companies should also have restrictions to provide service to only legal residences or those in the approved transistion system. This is a way to monitor their visa overstay, and track their whereabouts as well…
    Just as companies who hire illegals, utility companies should be fined for knowingly providing utilities to illegals.

    1. Shut down the borders and no immigration for 5 years.
    2. Deport all illegal’s that commit any and all crimes immediately.
    3. Go after the employers and fine them $50,000 for each offense.
    4. Change the Constitution - No birthrights unless both parents are legal citizens.
    5. A very limited seasonal guess worker program of no more than (100,000) per year for field workers. They must return home and any money that is sent to Mexico is taxed at 6% to cover federal taxes.

    This is how you depot 12 million illegal’s in this country!

    This HUGE and complex problem doesn’t likely have any SIMPLE or inexpensive solutions. Yet, IF we could get both political parties to stop pandering to this large potential voting block, maybe they could actually sit down and come up with some REAL solutions. How do you stop the pandering?BOTH PARTIES should agree (true bipartisanship) that NO PERSON WHO ENTERS THIS COUNTRY ILLEGALLY will EVER be able to have the full rights of citizenship and will NEVER be able to vote!!! Then, whether we allow them to stay under some circumstances or not - NEITHER PARTY can count on their vote. THEN:

    1. Build the fence(s)…real and “virtual”…whatever it takes to close the border as best we can.

    2. Repeal the 14th Amendment. Take the “anchor baby” issue away as a means of obtaining “rights”.

    3. Limit welfare, health care, and ANY taxpayer-funded benefits to CITIZENS or LEGAL immigrants ONLY.

    4. Enforce the existing laws against those who would hire illegals.

    5. STOP publishing ANYTHING at any government expense unless it is in English only.

    6. STOP ALL foreign language “alternatives” in government, banking, etc. (i.e. press 1 for English, 2 for Spanish, etc.)

    7. Impose a special FCC tax on ALL broadcast communication networks that choose (as is their right) to broadcast in anything but English.

    8. Impose a special tax on corporations that in any way advertise to, reach out to, (or in other ways encourage those who do not speak english) to discourage making it easier for illegals to survive “in the shadows”.

    9. Require ALL immigrants - other than those who are LEGALLY FINANCIALLY DEPENDENT on a legitimate U.S. sponsor, to have a high school education equivalent - OR be able to pass a GED test IN ENGLISH!

    10. Make it a felony to fly the flag of ANY foreign country unless it is flown beneath an American flag, or unless the property on which it is flying is legally recognized by the U.S. government as a foreign embassy.

    11. Enact legislation that would curtail or outlaw sending of U.S. funds in ANY AMOUNT to ANY foreign country via electronic means (i.e. Western Union), unless it is between legitimate corporations doing business, OR citizens who are acquiring goods that under the supervision and control of the US customs service.

    12. Revamp the existing immigration laws and processes to better accomodate those who we WANT to immigrate to this country.

    While it may be understandable that desparate people may be willing to do anything to get to this great country…even violate our laws and our sovereignty…that does not justify amnesty, forgiveness, or ANY form of reward for doing so. ONLY those who are willing to immigrate LEGALLY should be accomodated. The rest should be deported, or forced to live “in the shadows”, and SEVERE penalties should be imposed on any individual or organization that assists them.

    We need to stop the employers hiring them, stop the landlords from renting to them, stop all government documents being printed to accommodate them, cut off ALL help (unless emergencies of course) - financial and others like our schools bi-linqual. cut off all these free resources they are taking from us and they will have to go home.
    ALL illegals stopped for a traffic violation, an accident, arrested for any crimes, DEPORT IMMEDIATELY!!
    STOP catering to them!!! It has gotten to where these illegals are more important than the LEGAL U.S. citizen.
    Tax ALL funds that leave this country. Billions of OUR U.S. dollars are being sent to Mexico… where is THAT helping OUR economy?
    You stop all their free help they are getting, the deportation of millions will take care of itself. No help, no reason to stay.
    I’m sure there are a lot of Americans willing to do the same jobs they are doing if they are paid a decent wage for it.

We would then have ample money to build six fences. How much money do we supply Mexico each year? Back it off and see how fast we get support from that government.     Frankly, there is an issue that, in my humble opinion, supersedes the strengthening of the border by way of fence or drone. That issue is NASCO (North American SuperCorridor Coalition), and the superhighway’s stated purpose will be to bring in goods from China and India, which will be unloaded in a Mexican port and then shipped into the U.S. and Canada using inexpensive Mexican dockworkers and truckers, bypassing and undercutting U.S. Canadian workers. This Mexican truck traffic would not have to stop at border checks until it reaches Kansas City, a so-called inland port, or “SmartPort,” as called for by NASCO and a pact between the United States, Canada, and Mexico called the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP). Can’t you see the angle when U.S. laws are broken? Oh, these trade laws are good for the flow of commerce, for FREE trade. Well, nothing’s free, buddy, and the cost of these laws may be fatal!!!

    Immediately build the fence we were promissed and hire border patrol to enforce the law. Change the current laws so if patients cannot prove they are US CITIZENS and they are in the hospitals or other public facilities looking for free aide or they get pulled over for violations or if they commit crimes, regardless of how minor, immigration can be notified and if they are NOT LEGAL, they immediately get on the next bus back to where they came from. Change the laws so if criminals are incarcerated they are put to work in work camps on farms or in fields. Treat them the same as a US Citizen would be treated if we were in their country. With-hold taxes, fire congress and ship the ACLU to Irac to fight for human rights.

    A funding mechanism for the Trans Texas Corridor (TTC), a monstrous highway running from Laredo, Texas to Oklahoma, will be tolls—tolls not only on the planned superhighways, but on already-existing and PAID-FOR roads that are slated to be transformed into toll roads!
    Folks of Texas, and of course other states (HellOklahoma!) you have already paid for roads on which you can drive. Why in the name of Hades would you want to pay ANOTHER toll to drive on that road???

    I think we should build a fence, hire more agents and let the national guard take the lead with the border patrol assisting. We do not have to round up 12 million all at once as stated by the proponents of illegals. We need to do away with anchor baby, eliminate the use of other languages on public documents except for emergencies, make English the official language, require that students enrolling in all public schools and universities must have a certified copy of their birth certificate sent from the state or county they were born in the US. This would cut down the homemade ones that I often see in the schools. We then need to enforce the current law.

    Here’s my idea: Tell them to go to a post office within the next 6 mos and get an ID card that would let them have TWO YEARS to get their affairs in order to self-deport. Use the information to deport them more quickly if they have committed a crime, etc. If ANY illegal is found without the card after the 6 mos, they are IMMEDIATELY deported without time to prepare. This would be the motivation for signing up for the card. The 2 year period is generous enough to let them save some money, give their employer notice, and to prepare their families psychologically, emotionally, etc. At the end of the two years, they either self-deport and declare this in some way at the border crossing so that it can be documented or they are arrested and deported, period.

    Of course, the border MUST be secured and draconian fines should begin against all employers starting at the end of the six months.Once it got around that ANYONE without a card would be deported IMMEDIATELY and that everyone else would have two years before HAVING to return and that NO NEW CARDS would be given after the 6 mo. period except to legal immigrants, I don’t think our border would be violated as much!

    Build the fence. We need to put a fear in them to stop them from coming across. For the ones that are already here, we need to stop giving them everything and force them to speak english and to stop flying the Mexican flag!
    Change the law on the anchor babies, language and charge them for sending money back to Mexico.

    We have made things to easy for them, but it hasnt been easy for the American People.

    The illegal alien problem is much like the illegal drug problem. There is tremendous demand coming from the United States. The most important difference between the two is that curbing the demand for illegal aliens is relatively simple. If an employer is caught employing illegals, they should be hit with a very stiff fine. If there is a second offense, mandatory jail time should be enforced, say 90 days. A third offense should be 1 to 5 years in prison. This will dramatically cut the demand for illegals and they will go home by the millions. Why Hispanic advocacy groups lobby for the mistreatment of this new serf class I will never know. They like to call people that want to defend our border racists but the real racists are the La Razas out there that promote the exploitation of an uneducated group of people that can be manipulated to suit their agenda. If there were 10 million illegal Chinese over here marching in the street, waving Chinese flags and refusing to speak English or assimilate I doubt that the La Razas and the LULACs would be fighting to keep them here.

    1) Seal our borders (both)

    2) Start Deporting ALL illegal aliens immediately
    (if it is 12-20 million, so be it)

    3) Cut off ALL aid in all forms to illegal aliens in this country (medical, welfare, food, education) immediately

    4) Change the law that children born of illegals in this country DO NOT get citizenship

    5) Stop all legal immigration into this country for 5-10 years. Visitors to the US will be tracked and deported if they exceed their stay.

    6) Stop printing all forms in various languages. ENGLISH is the only acceptable language

    7) Fine employers who are found to have illegals on the payroll-1 million dollars for each illegal found.

    2. If the United States would put enough industry in Mexico, the people wouldn’t want/need to come here. They are only trying to feed their familys, the same thing everyone would do. Besides Mexico has oil which the US could more than benefit from. It’s a win-win for all. We put industry and everything else all over the world, why not Mexico? The people work hard and could support their family.
    3. This is America, we have 1 flag, 1 language, either respect it and learn it or get out.
    4. Babies of illegal aliens should not be an automatic citizen.
    5. Leave our social Security alone, if you become a citizen and pay into it, then you can have benefits, but only from your hard work, not those of us that’s spent a life time trying to save.

    Do not give anything free to anyone who does not legally live here, especially school. Bill Mexico (or whatever country) for expenses incurred for legal or medical costs. Do not grant citizenship based on birth (if I had a baby in Mexico, I would certainly not expect it to be a Mexican AND I would expect my insurance company to reimburse the hospital & doctors).
    People wouldn’t risk their lives to come here if we didn’t make it so inviting.
    Any citizen from another country who serves in our military (which I don’t even understand) should be able to apply for citizenship here after their honorable discharge.

    Start in stages so that each one can specifically address the multitude of problems facing Americans.
    1. Birthright Citizenship - Change the law immediately and bill the parent(s) for the charge of delivery, etc. If they won’t pay, bill the country from which they came for services delivered. Even discount the charge just to cover the cost. If the US can’t collect, then take it out of their aid package. I don’t understand why we as Americans must pay for our kids to be delivered and anyone else here as well. I know billing the home country is tough, but we should at least keep tabs on the bill. Hopefully changing “Birthright Citizenship” laws would discourage others from coming into US just to have their babies.

    2. Tighten the borders - They are our borders and putting up a wall to protect our borders is the right of the US. If others will NOT abide by our laws, then we must do something about it.

    3. rewrite bill - No Amensty. Reward those that have come here legally and have gone through the process as outlined by law. Send all others back to the country from which they came and have them apply legally. Heavily fine employers and others that hire illegals (day labor sites & house keepers). Give everyone 12 months to comply and find replacement workers that are here legally. English speaking ONLY in all government documents. If we don’t change this soon, we’ll have Chinese, Korean, Japanese, German, Italian, etc. Otherwise we will be discriminting against those as well and be forced to add every conceivable language to all gov’t documents.

    Make it a felony to hire a non US citizen unless they have an H1B visa.

    Felons cannot hold office or vote in any city, state or federal election permanently.

    Felons have a special notation on their ID (different color) that would put all murders, rapist, child molesters in the same boat making the Felon label as undesirable as being HIV positive.

    H1B workers must obey all laws. Willfully violation of a law would automatcally void their Visa and get them exported.

    H1B sponsors will sign for financial responsibility. This would require the employer to pay any debt incurred by the H1B and their families to included school, hospital, and other government services at full price.

    Offspring of H1B does ot become a citizen. They become a family member of an H1B.

    Dual petitions, H1B workers and family members can apply a second petition to change their status without affecting the H1B. They could apply for an E1, financee visa, family visa but it would be placed in the back of the line like any other person wanting citizen ship. Children born with a parent who is not an American automatically is eligiable to file a petition but citizen will not be automatic even for a new born.

    The government will provide no additional assistance to any group. That is to say no ESL (english as a second language). No Ebonics, no tagalog, no french, no no no. All government services will be provided fairly in the languange of the land. If they need an interpretor, they need to bring one.

    If they are here they have to work or steal. I vote to let them work but they have to be documented and not cause me to pay an extra dime for them being guest workers. As long as your at it the real issue here is Americas biggest problem is “social walfare.” If you wanna eat, get a job at Walmart and be a greeter … “welcome to personal responsibility.”

    No amnesty. No citizenship. U.S. born criminals do not enjoy the rights and privelidges of citizenship, why should they?

    Stop thinking of criminals as if they are not! Every one of them is a criminal, hence the term “illegal”! Treat them like criminals. Jail and/or deport the ones that are caught and make life harder here than it was there for those who are not. They’re not the ones we want here anyway. It’s sure not Rhodes scholars who are breaking in to the country. And if they had any respect for the law they would not be here illegally.

    Solve the problem? Simple. Here’s my “reform” bill. End General Assistance, WIC, food stamps, Section 8 housing, better free health care than American workers can buy, admission to publicly funded post-secondary education facilities, access to publically funded educational grants and loans (which will never get paid anyway). Punish employers of illegal labor. Common sense. Stop feeding them, make it unbearable if not impossible to live here, and they will go away.

    People crossing the desert? Families getting broken apart? Are these “violations of human rights”? Sure would be if they were being forced to. They are doing these things to themselves. Too bad for them. By the way, the children could be DNA swabbed and issued passports for readmission to the U.S. as adults. Family not broken apart.

    Stop feeling sorry for them. They are sucking the system dry and/or taking away jobs that others deserve and destroying our economy because they can live, better than us, on subpoverty wages since all of the necessities of life, that we have to work for, are given to them. By the people whose lives are being upended!

    Then we can let in more of the people who are trying for 16 years to do it right and come in legally. They’re the ones we want and need in our country. Does anyone speak for them except me?

    And by the way, if we weren’t spending so much money supporting criminals, how much more could we do for disabled American veterans? They deserve much more than they get. And deserve it far more than lawbreakers.

    First of all the government has got to prove they can be trusted. To this point they can not. So, scrap everything, build the wall, seal the entire border. Put Chertoff on the border with a butterfly net until the wall is completed, he’s not doing anything anyway. Then and only then will we even begin to believe a word coming out of Washington. Then enforce current immigration laws. Deport the criminals and everyone who used fake papers AND who can’t prove they have paid car insurance for the entire length of time they have been here. Maybe if we toss out 20 million back to Mexico they can change their own government while they are waiting to come back the legal way.

    I think the first thing we need to do is stop enabling those sneaking into the country.

    Secondly stop them from getting social services. Put it on ALL applications for ANYTHING as a mandatory question. “Are you a Citizen of the United States.” The only people who would have a problem answering, are illegal. If you are legal, prove it, regardless of nationality, just ask.

    Thirdly, stop allowing them to stay because of ‘anchor babies’. Either take their babies and send them back, or send them back with their babies. I don’t care where the baby is born.

    Who needs a fence? We should just plant a large line of Saguaro Cactus. Try to climb over THAT.

    I swear that we can’t get anything done because George Bush doesn’t want all the illegal farm workers he has working on HIS farm to have to go home, and he’ll have to pay someone else MORE money.

    Enforce the current laws. Punish employers and landlords to the extent that actually deters them from seeking any advantage to conduct business with illegals. Set up detainment camps for ALL illegals that are caught so that there is a consequence for breaking our laws. Immediately stop all funding that benefits any illegal alien. Eliminate anchor baby loopholes. If an illegal shows up at a hospital to have a baby or receive any medical service they should be treated then promptly escorted out of the country for the first offense or a detainment camp for repeat offenders. These detainment camps must be no frills and perceived as punitive. And finally secure the border.

    Why don’t we try NOT telling the illegals what THEY should do? They already don’t follow our laws so lets just go around them. WE should:

    1. Sanction, fine, jail employers that hire illegals.
    2. Enforce the border security laws already on the books.
    3. Finish the fence.
    4. STOP immediately all government benefits to illegals (except education because kids really do need education-no matter where or who they are)
    5. Make it illegal to rent or loan money to illegals.
    6. Application for entrance to our country must begin in one’s originating country.
    7. No criminals given green cards, visas, whatever into this country (minor traffic okay because most of us have those)
    8. Clarify if the 14th amendment re birth right really applies to kids born of illegals. It was written for the children of slaves-not folks here who snuck over here.
    9. English should be the language of this country. Folks who don’t speak english should learn it or bring their own translator (and be bound by whatever/however the translator translates. Not speaking English is NOT a disability, therefore, we should not have to provide translators).
    10. and finally, DEPORT THEM AS WE FIND THEM. No need to hunt them down and do mass deportations. Just deport them when we find them-even for a traffic ticket. They claim it would disrupt families-THEY made the choice to sneak over so that argue doesn’t hold any water with me.

    I think if we keep the illegals out of the process, they will decide to go back across the border (whichever one it is) and come over legally. I understand that some have families here and they will continue to live with them but there will be little way to make money and no free rides from the government. I think it would cut down a lot on the number of illegals in this country. We should never, ever put illegals in line ahead of those who are already in line doing the right thing.

    It seems we could build/operate hospitals, schools, etc. in Mexico for them to use instead of clogging up ours. This would give them jobs and in time help them to learn to take care of themselves. Possibly there are rules against this, but I think it would be better to create situations for them to stay in Mexico than flocking across the border illegally and caring for them here, including their newborns which become citizens and complicate matters more. Our emergency rooms & hospitals are filled with illegals and who pays for them?? I understand if you speak English you would have a hard time attending Yuma Community College. Crazy!

    BOTTOM LINE–WE MUST SECURE THE BORDER FIRST!

    WE MUST ELIMINATE THE CAUSE BEFORE WE CAN STOP THE EFFECT. AND WE DON’T NEED MORE RULES–WE NEED TO ENFORCE WHAT WE HAVE.

    Enforce the laws we have. Build the fence and have enough people on the borders (all of them, including our coastlines) to enforce our security. Deport illegals as we find them and REALLY try to find them. Slowly but steadily we can re-claim our country.

    The jobs that they (illegals) say that Americans won’t do, is a bunch of lies. Americans won’t do them at the illegal wages and conditions that illegals accept, but no one should! Construction jobs use to be a great job for guys that just couldn’t seem to go far in school. Now those guys end up dealing drugs or on welfare. Maybe there wouldn’t be so many blacks in jails if they could find the decent jobs that the illegals are taking???

    Make every person who is registered to vote to prove that they are citizens of the USA. Not hard, just produce a birth certificate or USA passport.

    Same thing with schooling, every person, including children, in school should prove that they have the right to be in the USA.

    No welfare benefits, social security benefits, any type of benefits should be given to anyone not here legally.

    Give a certain amount of time, up to one year, for all illegals to leave this country, voluntarily. If we have to deport them, they are not allowed to come back legally. Period, no exceptions.

    Anyone who has a criminal record is not allowed in the USA. FOR ANY REASON!

    Make English the language of our land.

    Stop punishing Border Guards for doing their jobs! If that isn’t the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of, I don’t know what is!

    Stop saying the USA is causing families to be broken apart. The illegals chose that with their illegal actions.

    Cross reference death certificates with birth certificates to help prevent stolen IDs.

    No automatic citizenship just for being born in USA, at least one parent must be a citizen.

    To be approved for citizenship, a person must be able to read, write, and speak English.

    Oh, and as for the military service that some people think that should be required for illegals? Do you really want to put our fire power in the hands of illegals? Get real people. Keep the military service out of the illegal issues.

    As far as comparing the fence to the Berlin Wall, go back to school. The Berlin Wall was built to keep people in communist Germany, not to keep people out.

    We need to Change the 14 amendment section 1 that says “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” This was known as one of the Civil War amendments (known as the Reconstruction Amendments), intended to secure rights for former slaves. It includes the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses among others. It was proposed on June 13, 1866, and ratified on July 9, 1868.[1] It is now regarded as one of the most important components of the Constitution. By changing the word person to slaves it would define what the amendment was written for and remove the incentive for illegals to try to have children here.

    I would like not to be like Rome. They kept conquering countries and bringing in LOTS of SLAVES. Before long they were overrun by them and the citizens lost their country, basically, without a fight. Theirs laws and language changed to suit the new ones in time. The “immigrants” over populated Italy, abusing resource limits and took control of everything in time. In other words, Italy handed over their country willingly through their own greed, stupidity and believing they could control their “immigrants”. They are not the only country to be this foolish. We are rapidly becoming them.

    We have people here in this country right now who are doing it correctly and are being bled to death with all kinds of fees, fines and paper work. Many are married to Americans and cannot become one, because of the bureaucracy. Stop it! Want to charge someone, charge the illegals and Mexico for the expenses they have and are creating. Do it NOW! ! !

    Parkland Hospital is going to be going under, so I heard, with all of the FREE stuff they are doing to those who do not deserve it. STOP IT! We have our own who are beinging denied, but our SS funds can be used to support law breakers. Why? Where do they deseve, in our former laws, what our own citizens cannot have, because you politicians are not wise. Okay, really stupid and foolish. Who are you trying to impress? Not US!

    A friend of mine went to Mexico and severely sprained a leg. Did she get free care. NO ! ! ! They took her credit card and charged her twice for the same care, over 5000 dollars worth. They took free reign at her expense, because they could and do not believe in Free Anything. So STOP IT! Why not charge Mexico all of the medical bills our tax payers are paying out of their pockets.

    Here are a couple of solutions

    1. Pack them up in truck, trains, buses, whatever and send them back to the country they refuse to fix OR LIVE IN.
    Since I have been doing research for a student getting her Master’s, I was overwhelmed at how many sex offenders are here, committing their crimes, on our citizens, and being deported only to show up again from Mexico. Stop Them NOW! ! ! YOU are allowing them to commit crimes with YOUR blessings and OUR MONEY! !!

    2. Send Mexico a bill for all of our expences in dealing with their failures. Do It NOW ! !

    3. Or annex Mexico, killing off all of the criminal politicians, because they will continue to be criminals just like they are today under handed. Change their laws to suit our needs and theirs, making them valuable to themselves and our nation. STOP perpetuation CRIME and LEECHES! ! !
    Having them send money HOME does not put money back into our pockets.

    I have blood relitives, who are born and bred Mexicans, telling my mother, who was in her seventies, they were not theives, because she did not catch them at it, while they were in her home. They deserved to take what they believed was there due. Appently this is Hispanic tradition still taught today.

    4. Do Something USEFUL about our BOARDERS. ALL OF THEM.

    My uncle, who owned part of one of the largest law firms in DC, in the summer of 1962, stop his car at the top of a hill, telling all of us to get out. Taking us to view DC, he took his right arm and hand spreading it over the view, declaring, “If America knew what was going on here, they would bomb it and start over.” Going to a reception given by the Kenney’s tht evening, I would agree. It needs to be bombed and we should start over where our forefather’s began, before it is too late. Actually we are too late. Again my uncle, “Nixon is being punished for being caught what the others have gotten away with for many a year.”

    5. Let’s throw every one out of office, in every organization and start over. That includes all that I really like and dislike. Maybe we could deleve further into their lives, coming up with the truth, by using those who have nothing to gain but our county back as it was meant to be.

    Given the immense burden on the taxpayers, one option may be not to charge the “Guest Workers” social security tax and by the same token, they will never be elliglble for any of it’s benefits. If you are unemloyed and cannot find work, go home, if you need welfare, go home, etc…

    It is Guest Worker, the premise being comign over here for a job. If you cannot find one, there is no point in being here.

    I like John’s idea, what about the bill from 1986? How soon they forget!
    If an employer needs the foreign workers they should be involved in the process as well. For example, If I were to hire migrant farm workers, I would be required to have the following paperwork: employment form, an application for a work visa, application for citizenship (paid up front by employer and taken out of the worker’s pay in resonable amounts until paid back), etc. This paperwork must be filled out and turned in within 15 days of hiring. The migrant workers must also attend American History classes. All of this would be registered with a third party organization that is responsible for checking on the legality of all migrant workers. Take that part out of the goverment, they can’t seem to do the job we put them there to do in the first place. Give Border Patrol and National Guard “REAL AUTHORIZATION” to maintain the borders. Stop allowing illegal citizens “RIGHTS TO EVERYTHING” and stop quoting the Constitution when it comes to citizen’s rights. They aren’t citizens yet. Once they become citizens then they can have their Constitutional Rights. Write your Senators People.

    We all know it is impossible to send all the illegal aliens back so we need to deal with who is here first and close the border to additional illegal immigrants. Next, we need to document the illegals that are already here without penalty so that they will not continue to be anomymous. Then, we need to list the requirements necessary for them to remain in the U.S. and deport those who do not comply. I am going to list a few requirements that I feel should be mandatory towards their future citizenship:
    1. Enroll in english classes and pass a minimum required exam.
    2. Show a dependable work history and/or ability to work.(sponsor)
    3. Maintain personal health insurance.
    4. Show legal driving status and appropriate auto registration & insurance.
    5. Maintain a clean criminal record.
    6. Pay an illegal entry fee(deductions from each paycheck)
    7. Limit the program to 10 years to those who can prove they were here at the start date and a minimum of 7 years if all requirements are met.
    There are many other requirements that could be listed but all would create an environment that would eventually qualify current illegals towards citizenship and send those who don’t comply back to Mexico to start their entry into the U.S. legally with the laws that already exist. This plan should satisfy both sides of the border because only those who really want to be citizens will stay, current U.S. citizens will be on a level playing field with the migrants, and those who do stay will comply with all the requirements that will make them welcome new citizens to our fantastic country.

    First of all, thank you for doing what you do, I for one, who is LEGALLY NATURALIZED CITIZEN greatly appreciate it. Here is my plan:
    1) SEAL THE BORDER, no more invasion & make sure it is working before going to #2
    2) Give the ILLEGALS 2 years to come out and apply for a 5 - 8 yrs. working visa. Any body shows up later than that, gets the TWO OR MORE years deducted from their stay.
    3) Anybody with ANY KIND of bad record is DEPORTED W/O EXCEPTIONS
    4) At the expiration of their Visa, they HAVE TO GO HOME AND REAPPLY and w/ good record/recommendations & demand could be allowed back in faster.
    5) During the time, keep the LEGAL IMMIGRATION OPEN and allow people w/ certain skills in demand immigrate.
    6) Also, look at the DISMAL SECONDARY EDUCATION SYSTEM, bring it up to the standards to COMPETE W/ THE BEST IN THE WORLD
    7) Kids who complain and refuse to work hard and study, can go and do the jobs that only illegals are doing, and those who don’t, can rise in this world and make the country proud. 8) Most importantly, we need to have a leader who can rise above the mere need of 4% votes and do something about this MESS, because after all, come next election, they will have to worry about 8%, and so on.

    Mr. Ankarlo - we in TX miss you very much! We need some help with a package for our Senators too. I like the ideas here. I am including a list I like with some edits.

    1. Close and secure the Southern Border with a hardened uninterrupted fence supplemented by technological surveillance. – NOTHING else is considered until this effort is completed. If we can build the Empire State Building in a year, we can do this in the same timeframe – with multiple crews working on different sections simultaneously.

    Following the construction of the fence:

    2. All illegal aliens in this country must be sent back to their country of origin. Do not tell me this is impossible. If the border is closed, they can be found one by one – the same way they came here, and deported. Eventually, there will be no illegal aliens.

    3. Any person/company found hiring illegal aliens without documentation will be imprisoned and fined harshly.

    4. Create a Guest Worker program for small numbers of people to fill jobs requested by employers specifically. Keep track of who is hired for what job and monitor these employers.

    5. Additional taxes will be issued to these temporary workers to compensate costs inflicted on our healthcare facilities.

    6. No guest workers will collect social security, disability, unemployment or federal health care.

    7. Illegal aliens without federal documentation, found in this country within one year of Bills establishment will be held in work camps until they are deported. These camps will be comprised of a “Tent Prison” system where they will work on federal jobs to compensate the cost of the camp – until they are deported back to their country of origin.

    8. To become a citizen you must remain documented for a period of 10 years. During this time you must be employed, be clear of any criminal activity, and speak and write English. (This will add people to this country that are educated and have a strong desire to be an American)

    9. Any criminal activity will result in imprisonment and/or deportation.

    10. Change the 14th Amendment to the Constitution to stop “anchor babies”. This is NOT what our Founding Fathers had in mind – and you all know that.

    11. No company or corporation is allowed to displace – or artificially deflate – the wages of American Workers by hiring “guest workers”. This means that Mr. Construction Company owner cannot fire all his cement workers that are American, and hire guest workers for 2/3 of the cost, thus decimating the American cement workers and driving the standard wages for those jobs lower.

    You and the governement have it all wrong and this will never be resolved to any of the special interests satisfaction.

    It is estimated there are between 12 and 20 plus million illegals in this country. If legislations were past permitting each of them to come in to register to begin citizenship or for work visas we could start to get a handle on things. They would be required to prove they were employed on that date and not a law violator. At the same time put in place a comprehensive guest worker program. No other laws would be needed as those on the books are sufficient.

    We (USA) cannot send 12 to 20 million people back, think about the economic consequences to our country and the home countries. It would be disasterous.

    The politicians have to make things so complicated in order serve the specail interests. My solution to them is a revolution. A revolution that would elect replacements for the career politicians. The founding fathers never anticipated what we have today, so maybe we should follow their lead and recreat the process whereby we have part time legislatures.

    I heard a portion of your discussion this morning on this topic. I haven’t read the latest reform package congress is working on but it sounded as though illegals could pay a fine and stay as long as they had committed no other crimes than entering the U.S. illegally. My sister took in a teenage daughter of illegals from Mexico because they kicked her out of the house when she was 15. The situation is a mess because the parents want her home to cook and clean. She wants to go to college and is trying to finish high school. What we’ve learned is that these are people that you would say are “hard working” and trying to live the American dream. Mom has been here 19 years and still doesn’t speak English (common). They keep the laws they agree with but examples of ones they break: no car insurance, had daughter driving errands at age 11, don’t pay taxes, keep kids out of school when convenient for them, use daughter’s social security number (she was born in the U.S.) for any thing requiring a legal SSN. We pay for their health care. This girl is one of dad’s 22 children…

    I read today that a U.N. employee was of helping non-U.S. citizens enter the country illegally by providing fraudulent documents so they could obtain visas to attend conferences that either did not exist or which they did not attend. People will always find a way to enter this country, some are a risk and others not, most just want a better life and that is how this great land was formed. I resent these angry or black and white solutions I keep hearing, there are none! It will take time, focus and great leadership and a lot more caring.

    I was born in Tijuana Mexico, a border town withCalifornia. I had the fortune of been able to go to school in two countries, I studied until the 8th grade in Tijuana, and was able to learn about the History of my country then, and when my father who was a farmer then brought us into this country by legal means, I started my school in this country in High school, I learned about the history of the U. S. the civil war etc. what i gather from the current problems we are facing with Illegals is, that the caucasians or americans so call themselves brought this out into themselves. I guess because I don’t know they got tired of doing all the work, so they brought Africans to be their slaves and do all the work on the fields, in their houses, even raised the kids for white folks. then the hipanics, orientals and others joined in the force of working hte fields for the Americans. some kids remember their nannies, which were other than white, black or hipanic. excuse my spelling please. but i ask you americans. how many of you can put their name on the fields that feed your families, how many of you can put your name on sidewalks, roads,highways, parks , yards restaurants washing dishes you ate out of…I’m sure some can, but not as many as hispanics can, orientals, etc. the point is if you think you don’t need us any more, you are wrong. you already have the natives that have bad feelings towards you for invading their land and takenit away from them, or the blacks for making them slaves, you got alot of countries hating you for trying to change their way of living, now we are the only neighbors you have that are willing to wash your dishes, cook your meals, farm your fields,build your homes, cut your grass, watch your children,we even go towar with you and fight side by side. help me understand the logic in that, I am a Veteran of The United States Army, I serve this Country, I love this Country, I would die for this Country.     By not allowing human beings to enter a certain region, then you have just created an underground economy, zero-tolerance, xenophobia, ignorance, prejudice groups, racism, wasted negative time and energy on how we take your jobs and or business opportunities. Life’s are at risk, because certain ethnic groups are afraid to report crime and or partake in civic duties, since they are considered illegal alien’s (Undesirable Human beings).

    All Nations have the right to protect their borders from individuals, groups and or from other Nations, just as the head of the family has the right to defend his or her place of residence from intruder’s…

    Remember bad apples are found in every race, ethnic groups around the world, and those need to be dealt swiftly. In most cases immigrants who move from one region to another only want and need to have a normal life, unfortunately their current regions cannot meet such goals (a decent way of life, a promising job/career and safety for his or her family)…

    Who are we to blame?

    For starters Governments around the world who steal from their own people, who are unwilling to share the Nations riches by providing proper infrastructure, employment, housing, create a safe and secure environment for all who live within such region. These Governments just seat by and watch their people starve, and or die with unfulfilled goals/dreams. How about, the wealthy elite families and or large corporations around the world who only think of themselves by exploiting these poor regions with weak Governments, who destroy local environment, who pay miserable low wages, with horrible, terrible, and awful work conditions…

    To all Citizens who belong to the privileged wealthy Nations known as the (Industrialized Regions), put yourselves in the shoes of these poor third world citizens!

    If you found yourself at the bottom of the totem pole, what would you do?

    You have the answer and we know what it is, finding a better place to live for you and your families… I reiterate all human beings have the right to live in a decent environment, with basic needs such as; Shelter, food, a career/job, success, hobbies, and or to create a family, if its their wish to do so.

    Come to terms with a systematic approach to legal immigration with Mexico. Allowing legal immigration within 3-6 months granting legal work status and citizenship required within 1 year of immigrating. Make immigration fees very simple and payable within the one year mark. Place a higher tax on legal work status immigrants for 1st year till citizenship is achieved and mandate/require classes for citizenship test and english speaking classes. I’ve never considered myself Mexican-American or Hispanic or Latin-just American, my history however, I owe to my grandparents who immigrated here for an opportunity to improve my life. Stop and think. We need each other and this spat has gone on too long. Accept one another and embrace the values of this country so we can heal and progress and remain the greatest nation ever.
