Ankarlo Iowa Audio: Mon Nov 5, 2007

November 7, 2007

The 2008 Presidential Race is truly historic.  For the first time in 80 years the Vice President hasn’t been handed the party reigns.  We could also see the first woman President, the first Black President and the first Mormon President.  Plus, this will be the longest election ever (sometimes it feels like it already has been).  This is exactly why we took Ankarlo Mornings on the road to Iowa.  We will bring you the best, most in-depth, most comprehensive election coverage in Phoenix radio.

The Ankarlo team started out for Iowa on Saturday November 3rd.  Politics is like sports in Iowa.  Thousdands of people show up to candidate forums and town hall meetings to learn about them and their positions.  It was suprising how many of them are still undecided, especially since the politicians have been there for months already.  While in the heartland we attended events for Sen. John Edwards, Sen. John McCain and Sen. Hillary Clinton.  By far the biggest crowd was for Clinton, but both Edwards and McCain had great representation.

Darrell and I had the chance to ask Sen. McCain some questions.  I asked him if what his thoughts on the Arizona employer sanctions bill was.  He said he hasn’t studied it.  Darrell then asked if he would be seen as a flip flopper because of his shifting immigration position.  Sen. McCain testily said Ankarlo must be misinformed (even though Ankarlo is writing a book on that very subject).  Darrell responded on his show by saying there is no way he could vote for McCain in 2008.  Rumors have been out there about McCain’s temper for a long time and Darrell thinks he saw some of it first hand.  Listen to Day 1 from Iowa below and hear Darrell’s thoughts on McCain.
