Today is a sad day for Darrell. His oldest brother George, his hero, passed away over the weekend. Darrell wrote an article about the influence George has had over his life in Phoenix magazine a couple of months ago. You can read it here. Darrell also pays tribute to George at the end of today’s show…
On today’s show, Darrell talks about the case of Julie Myers. Who is she? Well, she was up for the top job at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). That is until she judged a Halloween costume contest and awarded the most original costume to a man wearing dreadlocks, dressed in a prison outfit and darker skin. Now, she is under fire. Is she a racist? Or is this just an excuse the Democrats are using because she is former chairman of Joint Chiefs Gen. Richard Myers? Ms. Myers also is married to John Wood, who used to be Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff’s chief of staff.
Talk the Vote: Robert Novak says his sources tell him Sen. Hillary Clinton has “scandalous” information about Sen. Barack Obama. The source also told Novak, they weren’t going to use it. Obama responded by saying, “don’t swift boat me.” In Iowa residents have been recieving phone calls knocking Gov. Mitt Romney’s religion. Others have received calls saying they shouldn’t vote for Sen. John Edwards because he isn’t home taking care of his wife while she has cancer.
The Boston Police Department has a new program to get guns of the street. They will be knocking on people’s doors to ask if they can search their kids rooms without a warrant. Well, at least they will ask permission. How far do we go for safety? Is this just another example of losing our rights? Darrell says the mission might be right, but there is room to worry.

Ankarlo…I know you hate all types of immigrants to this country and that this is a wedge between your racist type and people that really want to grow in the US…but we are sad for the death of your older brother.
I don’t think that Ankarlo hates all immigrants just the illegal ones, the ones that are braking the laws in this country. I only have one question why is it that Mexico srictly inforces there immegration laws with prision tirms as felons and we can’t inforce or laws here in this country where we are declared racist. Well according to some instatuitions of lower learning all white males are racists and white females are only good for breeders. Myself I’m not a raciest I’m a Patriot or Nationalist take your pick Secure the Borders, protect our culture, and make english the only lanquaqe used in this country. ONE NATION ONE FLAG ONE PEOPLE

Why should we “save the debates”? Ankarlo brings up the immigration debate over ANYTHING. Why should this be different? We can bring it up…it’s a free country.

My heart broke for you today!! As the youngest of 5 with all 4 of my siblings in drug rehab or very sick, I understand how you feel in trying to get them well. I have exhausted all my avenues and resources to help them see the light. I won’t give up and love them too!! George sounds like a great man!! Your family is very lucky to have known him and be a part of your legacy!!
Remember daily, like our soldiers. I have a 20 year old nephew in the marines in Iraq and I think about him in his duties, why his aunts and uncles are so messed up while he is fighting for us to be free…Free? Stop all border access especially in Canada, no more free lunch!!

Ankarlo’s brother died? What is special of that? We all have to die some time. We all will have to lose a brother, father, mother, relative.

Obviously I’m Hispanic. I’m sure the name gave it away. I listen to Ankarlo as well and I don’t take any offense to what he says. He is not necessarily blasting Hispanics, but the illegal immigrants. That doesn’t just mean Hispanics, it’s anyone who comes into this country illegally. It’s a fact however, that the majority of illegal immigrants in this country are Hispanic, and the majority of those Hispanics, are Mexican. So if you want to disagree with the things he says you will never get any argument from me except maybe some fun discussion. I just don’t agree with you being so disrespectful to his loss. I realize that it is a part of life, no argument there, but it still sucks when you lose a loved one. I know because I lost both my parents last year within 6 months of returning from Iraq. And you know what Vlad, it still sucks.

You’re right, Darrell doesn’t hate immigrants. He understands that this country was built on the foundation of immigration. If you think about it, Mexico isn’t the melting pot of immigrants and culture that is the United States. That is why Mexico doesn’t have the issue of discrimination or racism like we have in this country. I could go on and on, but that’s basically what it is. I agree that everyone who lives in this country should learn the English language. That just makes sense. If I moved to France, it would only make sense for me to learn French. But you have to think that if there are people who for whatever the reason don’t know the language, businesses for example, are in business to make money and in order to do that, they provide what the customer base needs, even if that is someone who speaks their language. Does that make sense? When it comes to schools, I think if children are allowed to learn another language and culture at a young age it can only be a good thing for them and our future. It helps them be better people and appreciate everyone for who they are.
Vlad was abused as a kid. Those are the exact sighns of an abused kid that u see there. The meaningless outrage against random stuff.

I don’t get to listen to the show live as I am at work, but my husband played part of the broadcast for me last night. What Ankarlo said about how you define you and nothing or no one can, it really hit home with me. I’ve been going through a hard time lately and those words were exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you for sharing the story about your brother and my heart goes out to you and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and the rest of your family. I don’t know what its like to “lose” a sibling but I do know what its like to “lose” a sister you grew up with.
My sister lost here husband and daughter four and five years ago, her husband to cancer and her daughter was murdered. Because she lost them both less than a year apart she hasn’t been “herself”. She has given up on almost everything. Her family (my mother,sister,and I) are ignored by her. She wants to curl up and die. We have tried to “bring her back to herself” but she doesn’t want to. She won’t accept the help and she doesn’t want to help herself. She says she doesn’t want to be here anymore. It breaks our hearts and scares us but we can’t force her to accept the help, we’ve tried. We keep hoping and praying everyday that something will “click” and she’ll see that she is loved and that we will never give up on her.
She and I shared a room for thirteen years and I would do anything to protect my “older” sister. I can’t do anything to change the past but I can try to encourage the future.
Again, my deepest sympathy to you and your family. May God be with you.

It is hard to lose someone that has been here for your entire life. I lost my big brother 3 years ago. I miss him everyday. Take care of yourself and keep the good George always in your heart. sooooo, if the shoe was on the other foot and one of our citizens was in Mexico illegally they would say “gracias” and then take all your money and through you in a Tijauana jail to rot.
Thank the ILLEGAL for finding the kid, brand his forehead with a large “I” for illegal so he can be identified when he tries to enter again, give him a Big Mac, and send him back home. Oh, and say adios.

PHOENIX — A 9-year-old boy looking for help after his mother crashed their van in the southern Arizona desert was rescued by a man entering the U.S. illegally, who stayed with him until help arrived the next day, an official said.
The 45-year-old woman, who eventually died while awaiting help, had been driving on a U.S. Forest Service road in a remote area just north of the Mexican border when she lost control of her van on a curve on Thanksgiving, Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada said.
The van vaulted into a canyon and landed 300 feet from the road, he said. The woman, from Rimrock, north of Phoenix, survived the impact but was pinned inside, Estrada said.
Her son, unhurt but disoriented, crawled out to get help and was found about two hours later by Jesus Manuel Cordova, 26, of Magdalena de Kino in the northern Mexican state of Sonora. Unable to pull the mother out, he comforted the boy while they waited for help.
The woman died a short time later.
“He stayed with him, told him that everything was going to be all right,” Estrada said.
As temperatures dropped, he gave him a jacket, built a bonfire and stayed with him until about 8 a.m. Friday, when hunters passed by and called authorities, Estrada said. The boy was flown to University Medical Center in Tucson as a precaution but appeared unhurt.
“We suspect that they communicated somehow, but we don’t know if he knows Spanish or if the gentleman knew English,” Estrada said of the boy.
“For a 9-year-old it has to be completely traumatic, being out there alone with his mother dead,” Estrada said. “Fortunately for the kid, (Cordova) was there. That was his angel.”
Cordova was taken into custody by Border Patrol agents, who were the first to respond to the call for help. He had been trying to walk into the U.S. when he came across the boy.
The boy and his mother were in the area camping, Estrada said. The woman’s husband, the boy’s father, had died only two months ago. The names of the woman and her son were not being released until relatives were notified.
Cordova likely saved the boy, Estrada said, and his actions should remind people not to quickly characterize illegal immigrants as criminals.
“They do get demonized for a lot of reasons, and they do a lot of good. Obviously this is one example of what an individual can do,” he said.
