Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Comments:
March 18, 2008
Here is a list of some of the most controversial things Barack Obama’s pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright has said:
”The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing ‘God Bless America.’ No, no, no, God damn America, that’s in the Bible for killing innocent people.”
“God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme.”
“We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye. We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost.” (He said this five days after the September 11th attacks on 9-16-01)
Thanks to the Fox News Channel for these ones:
“The government lied about Pearl Harbor. They knew the Japanese were going to attack. Government’s lied.”
“We’ve got a paranoid group of patriots in power that now, in the interest of homeland stupidity – I mean homeland security …”
“The government lied about the Tuskegee experiment. They purposely infected African-American men with syphilis …”
“Fighting for peace is like raping for virginity.”
“… what’s going on in white America, U.S. of KKKA …”
“Black men turning on black men – that is fighting the wrong enemy. You both are the primary targets in an oppressive society that sees both of you as a dangerous threat.”
“We cannot see how what we are doing is the same thing al-Qaida is doing under a different color flag … And guess what else. If they don’t find them some weapons of mass destruction, they going to do just like the LAPD and plant them some weapons of mass destruction.”
“God damn America – that’s in the Bible – for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating us citizens as less than human. God damn America …”
Can we really believe Obama was not there when any of these statements were made?

1 Cor. 15:33 “Bad association spoils useful habits” That includes members of your own congregation, I would never associate with someone who was so hateful. Instead of reflecting the thoughts of the community a christian leader leads his flock the to a christian way of thinking.
You said that Sen. Obama should be directly connected to Rev. Wrights comments and that he should have left the church.
My example would be that if I am a life long Democrat and didn’t agree with EVERYTHING that they said and did, that I should become a Republican. (or visa versa) Sometimes we just have to weed out what we like and don’t like, agree or disagree with our churches, friends, co-workers, etc. but it doesn’t mean that we have to drop them.
I don’t agree with you 100% but I still listen to you. (I”m listening to NPR just a bit more these days)
Thanks…

Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the courage to say what he is believeing and feel, even though it is some how not politically right. But for a presidential canadidate who have been listening Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s preaching for over 20 years
will make me really worry about the future of the America: United or Divided?
I feel that rev [benlaundin]wright sould keep his anti AMERICAN comments to
himself when speaking in the church. And sen.Obalma shuld have been very offeneded buy these comments and left the church. He shuld have told the rev.
and the people in the church that this was an improper place to voice shuch
comments. And that he did not agree with them if he, loves his country.
Church is for GOD not govt

i strongly agree with the Rev Wright, the government is in control of evedry phase of our lives. they ahave asttacked the (legal) smoking freedom that you once
had. Freedom of speech, that is a joke, just as Rev Wright spoke his mind look at the flack he has come across. do you really believe that there is an Osama Binladin, HELL NO, if there was the GOVERNMENT would have caught him by now. the anti-christ has been in control of the government for far too long. look how many of our sons and daughters that have lost their lives in a no-nonsense war. do you see any of your president’s family in the war? wake up america,Rev Wrigth definitely has some good points. that’s why Obama didn’t totally side with the so called popular american side. now the government is in control of your television. that’s why everybody has to change to dtv. the government and the cable companies will get richer off of this one and we get poorer. i am as poor black woman, who feels if this is published i,like Rev Wright will get some negative feed back.
to linda mcclaurin. So you hate AMERICA to.You do understand in other countrys
you would have been shot or jailed for what you wrote.Consider this when bad
mouthing AMERICA. Like you just did.You arnt punished for that here. That is
your freedom of speach at work.Just think about that.

His comments, while ugly and offensive are still very true in older generations of people. If you think about it African Americans were only given rights about sixty years ago and even then those rights were ignored and stomped on. We need to go through another generation of people who denonce prejudice and it and the rhetoric will begin to disappear.
In responce to mrs mclaurins crap about a nonsence war.The US.army is the
only army that fights for the freedom of other peoples. The people of iraq were
opressed by saddam for a very long time untill the US. freed them. No other
nation would do anything to help other peoples. Throuout history we have helped the opressed. civil war we freed the blacks,ww2 we saved the world and the
Jews from hitler. Without the US. the world would be under nazi rule now and the
Jews would be dead. Desert Storm we freed Kuate.
This war in iraq is also in responce to the the crime committed on us on 9/11. THOSE CRIMANILS must be made to pay.We must win this war to show
the terriorist we can not be pushed around by them .Nor do we fear them. If we
lose we open ourselves to more attacks on us. This is a nessary war and I support the US. and the hero PRES. BUSH 110%.HE HAS SAVED OUR COUNTRY.

“SAGGY BOTTOM NO BELT WEARING BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN AMERICA SPEAK”
We don’t go to church! We don’t care what the Reverend Wright had to say. We could care less. We don’t wear a belt for a reason. We have credit cards, college degrees, and a job We find salvation where salvation finds us. We don’t listen to men at the pulpit, we don’t listen to the Government. We don’t even vote. We talk the vote, we walk the vote, but we don’t physically vote!
We don’t care about Rev Wrights words, right or wrong. We do care about dying in Iraq. Just because we don’t wear a belt, doesn’t mean we can’t see, hear, think or make comment. We do care about elderly care, We do care about bombing Iran. We care about DIPLOMACY instead of Protecting the Companies that protected them. We care about being eavesdropped, wiretapped, or datamined. But we don’t care about Rev Wright and his Sunday sermon on the Beast in his way!
Bush lied, but americans cling to his lie as salvation for their own personal inability to STAND and be CORRECTED. Their own personal rights, and civility.
Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction, not OBAMA, HILLARY.
Bush took your son, your daughter, your mother, your father, your neighbor and friend and dropped them off in a “QUAGMIRE” of his own. You and only you bow down to his “ELITIST” ways above the CONSTITUTION.
Saggy bottom No Belt Wearing Brothers and Sisters around America, could care less about Rev Wright or that (sunday) lesson and anyone else that thinks BUSH SAVED AMERICA!
OH HE SAVED YOU ALRIGHT. SO HOW DOES IT FEEL TO “WAVE IN HIS WATER” DEATH, PAIN, DESTRUCTION, AND A MERE PHONY ACHIEVEMENT!
who are the Saggy bottom no belt wearing brothers and sisters around AMERICA
WHAT KIND OF SILLY NAME IS THIS. You must be realy strange people . First off
if you dont vote ,you have no busness complaining about anything in this country.
Secondly I bend down to no man. Ijust happen to agree with Bush. If I didnt I would voice it.If you want to talk about pain, death and destruction look at what
saddam did to his people. Our govt. does not treat people like he did ,not even our enemys. Our govt is not perfect but still is the best the world has to offer.
Just because you are collage educated doesnt make you superior people.
I know alot of educated people who are dirt as human beings. And if you care less
about my thinking that Bush saved AMERICA..Why then does it bother so you need write a letter about it.The gas that saddam used on the Kurds is a type of
weapon of mass destruction.Thats prof right there he has one.So he does have
some he used it already.

Hello everybody!
Here’s an outside perspective: Is what the reverend say really that horrible, or even controversial? He has doubs about his governments honesty, if you will. He feels that some groups are grossly misstreated.
Pretty profound issues there tho. Cause if he’s right, you really do have a problem… And if not, it’s a good thing he raised the issue so it can be disproven. Either way it’s crucial to have issues of this character taken seriously and under close public scrutiny if you truly believe in a free society.
Sure, he uses a provocative language, what with God and all in such a religious country as the U.S. that’s sure to make a fuss. But his perspective is in no sense anti-american. It’s just anti-injustice within the U.S.
Which is a good thing whether you belive he’s got his facts straight or not, right?
Oh, and btw, I understad his statements are really controversial within the U.S. I think that they are viewed as pretty healthy observations in pretty much any other democracy on earth. Sorry
to Jonas: The term “GOD DAM AMERICA”, is what I object to. That term sounds anti AMERICAN to me. He could have used differant words then that.

Greg, to answer your question. The Saggy bottom no belt wearing sisters and brothers in america are Americans, people who have saggy pants, no belt, men, women, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons in america. Young Americans with High School Diplomas, College Degrees, Visa holding, voters who don’t vote! Dropouts who can vote. Those Who can vote, but are too busy, not engaged moving, and who talk the talk but don’t Vote at the end of the day, and they carry a lot of weight out there. So if you don’t wear a belt, and is under the age of 42, and don’t vote, but talk the talk and just keep on talking the talk and have the “vote” to make a difference and just doesn’t and you sag!
That is a Saggy bottom no belt wearing Brother or Sister in America! So if you Sag, then you probably didn’t vote and just talk the vote while thinking about finally buying a belt and GROW UP and Shape America, Maybe even your America!
I think Barrack appeals to this sector of our society, and if they stood up and put on a belt, then maybe they would really get out there cast there vote. Hillary appeals to the female side and the side of men who don’t work, and their girlfriends do, but both should vote but don’t because of their economic capacity while being free “Saggy Bottom No Belt Wearing Brothers and Sisters” in America.
That is the demographics that I consider to be Saggy Bottom!
I think that America will get the President that we deserve. We all think that we really have a say in this election and that by voting we would vote the person that we want into office. If we as a nation were to look at the big picture, we would know that God is in charge and he will allow us to have the leader that we as a nation and country deserve. I am a believer and my pastor is of the caucasian persuasion and he often times makes comment that I don’t think is right but that does not make me want to leave the church. He is a great pastor and leader aside from the comments. We have to remember that pastors are human beings too the only difference is that they have been called to a higher office. They mess up and make mistake like the rest of us, the difference is that they are in the public eye. We will all be judged for or actions at some point and time. Although we do not agree with the rev. we all have a right to our opinion. The Dixie chix did and it’s okay so why was it not okay to voice his.
Was anything thaty Rev Wright spoke was untrue is is it the fact that he had the courage to speak? Remember freedom of speech, our constitutional rights. IF he’s speaking the truth than mayber he may be guilty of not being tactful, i didn’t read that he hated white but it sounds like he apposes white sepremacist which is altogether different.
