McCain has a spot removed from his face as a precaution. A McCain aid says Obama will cause a depression if he is elected. Meanwhile, Obama blames the evil Wallstreet and the evil Washington for our economic problems.
The polls: Gallup Daily; Obama 48%, McCain 40%. Rasmussen Reports; Obama 45%, McCain 42%. USA Today; McCain leads among likely voters.

Terrorists get desperate

July 28, 2008

I have yet another success story from Iraq. I know, those of you who wanted us to pull out and declare defeat months, if not years ago, hate these stories. But, the report still needs to be shared and it’s not the kind you would call a success—at first. Over the weekend four suicide bombers killed 57 and wounded over 300 Iraqi citizens.

How do I find something positive with that kind of death and destruction? The suicide bombers were all women. Chief rebel rouser Muqtada al Sadr is seen as passé and General David Petraeus says his generals say Iraqis believe the war is over. This is a good sign. The culture in the Middle East is that a woman is defiled if she is frisked by a male and so the terrorists are changing things up in a last ditch effort to destabilize by frenzied killing. Only desperation causes this kind of behavior which tells us that once again we have reason to hope in Iraq. If I were the top dog, the solution would be simple—let members or our and the Iraqi military pat down any female at any time and explain that this is in direct response to the bombings. Stop evil men with one tactic and just as evil women with another and the message gets sent with each.

Today on Ankarlo Mornings: Ankarlo talks about the Church shootings in Tennessee. Why does violence always revolve around gay issues? Have you heard about the latest “shank” feature on facebook? Ankarlo is a little freaked out by it, but Diane says it is no big deal.

Ankarlo also admits that he shouldn’t redo his bathroom, but he is attempting it anyways. Yes, it’s a nightmare.

How about Obama? He was scheduled to visit wounded troops while he was in Germany. But, he didn’t end up there. McCain is taking shots at him. Is it a catch-22 for Obama?

Ankarlo also wonders if strip clubs are a form of art?

A Movie is Just a Movie

July 25, 2008

When I go to see a movie I go to escape and be entertained. Give me a small bag of popcorn, a coke and a pocketful of candy—which I sneak in because it costs so much at the theatre—and I am a very happy camper. I don’t really pay attention to subtle messages the film is supposed to be presenting.
ET was apparently about Christ, 300 was about the Iraq war and Wall E is a story about global warming. Those hints must come when I’m searching the floor for my missing Ju Ju Bees because I don’t catch them. But now, according to a piece by a Hollywood director via the Wall Street Journal, Batman is a portrait of George W Bush.
Batman is willing to fight for his beliefs even if he is hated by the masses—that’s GW on the War in Iraq. Batman lives by his moral compass. Mr. Bush does too. Batman pushes civil rights boundaries for the sake of the people and so does our president. And the list goes on. I didn’t see any of that—I saw a comic hero I grew up with turned into a billion dollar enterprise. Oh, but wait a minute—it’s the income the movie is generating that may be the rest of the story. Are people flocking to see what is now touted as a very conservative movie because we admire a gun-slinging leader who is loyal to a fault and who is willing to trade his destiny for their well-being; a story about someone taking a stand instead of continuing to play the politically correct game of no losers or winners in sports, feminized men, and schools that hand out equal grades so everyone feels good about themselves? No, it’s just a movie—and the Batman/Bush comparisons may not be relevant to the film but they do say a lot about us

Talk the Vote: McCain gives Bush credit for gas prices going down. Does he blame him for the overall price increase though? Obama says Iran poses a grave threat. Is this a change of heart or a realization? Will be able to talk his way out of it?
