Just Fake It!?

August 12, 2008

Word comes from Beijing that the cute little Chinese girl in the red dress from the Olympics opening ceremonies was lip syncing.  Apparently the real seven-year old who sang wasn’t perfect enough.  This coincides with the computer generated fireworks display from night one and a bunch of 10 year old Chinese gymnasts prancing around like they are really 16—the age the Olympic Committee demands.

Why?  Because China wants to be seen as one of us: with the times and special.  Oh, so special.  In order to accomplish those goals they are willing to forge passports, hide little girls and charm their way into the world’s good graces.  The sad commentary:  as Americans we expect this kind of show biz and actually do a little razzle dazzle of our own.  Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all play nice—and fair—and honest?!

Today on Ankarlo Mornings:  Who knew the Olympic opening ceremony was fake?  The fireworks were fake, the little girl that the world fell in love with was lip signing.  So is anything in the Olympics real?  Plus, China is pulling a Russia from 25 years ago.  They are faking out the world so we say, “they aren’t that bad.”

Also, Ankarlo says the US should be careful with how we tread in the conflict between Russia and Georgia.  Georgia is an ally, but do we really want a war with Russia?

Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon drops by to tell us about his appointment as the head of a task force on immigration.  Congressman Charlie Rangel is calling for amnesty on illegal immigrants as well.  Thanks Charlie.  He even called the Sheriffs who are enforcing immigration laws bad guys.

Here is a question for you:  Would you choose a gadget such as a TV over a weekend with a hot lady?

Ankarlo also noticed something since John Edwards has admitted to having an affair.  The attention has turned to John McCain when he cheated on his first wife.

Breaking news: Russia has halted all offensive action against Georgia. Russian troops still remain and President Dmitri Medvedev has said the military operation has succeeded. He also added that Russian troops can still fire on enemies in South Ossetia (a disputed province in Georgia). Yesterday, President Bush strongly condemned the attacks by saying Russia risked damaging it’s relationship with the U.S. and the rest of the world. Meanwhile, the US helped send 2,000 Georgian troops stationed in Iraq along a known smuggling ring get back to their country. Now, questions remain about the smuggling route and some are saying it leaves a vacuum along the Iranian border.
