Just Fake It!?

August 12, 2008

Word comes from Beijing that the cute little Chinese girl in the red dress from the Olympics opening ceremonies was lip syncing.  Apparently the real seven-year old who sang wasn’t perfect enough.  This coincides with the computer generated fireworks display from night one and a bunch of 10 year old Chinese gymnasts prancing around like they are really 16—the age the Olympic Committee demands.

Why?  Because China wants to be seen as one of us: with the times and special.  Oh, so special.  In order to accomplish those goals they are willing to forge passports, hide little girls and charm their way into the world’s good graces.  The sad commentary:  as Americans we expect this kind of show biz and actually do a little razzle dazzle of our own.  Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all play nice—and fair—and honest?!

I am very disappointed that the Chinese officials allowed that to happen. However, it sounds like something we would do in this country. After all, looks certainly trumps talent in the good ol’ USA.

i wonder how they actually feel knowing they HAD TO CHEAT TO WIN. you gotta wonder if they (the gymnasts)are hurting inside knowing they are underage. but, what are you gonna do? move on, keep record of the event and of the girls for future olympics. hey you can even take dna so we can make sure. a little hard considering the millions of little girls they have in china.

You want to know how they feel knowing they HAD TO CHEAT TO WIN? Ask Mark McGuire, Rafael Palmero, Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi, Marion Jones and the list goes on and on. Don’t bash other contries whos athletes have stooped to this level of decietfulness unless our country is free and clear of doing the same thing.

i dont see anything wrong with that. our pop stars lip-sync all the time.
