That is Not Art!

August 18, 2008

Listen to Ankarlo’s Take, Every Weekday Morning at 7:30 on Arizona’s Morning News on News/Talk 92.3 KTAR:

Local artist and ASU professor Betsy Schneider loves her kids—a boy and a girl—so much that she wants to share them with the world—naked. On Friday night she did just that at a local Phoenix art house. Hanging on the wall were scores of naked pictures so true art lovers and pedophiles could warmly embrace with lasting appreciation the subtle curves and under developed bodies of innocent children. Meanwhile, Phoenix police and the Maricopa County Attorney are deciding whether or not Professor Schneider has violated any laws by exposing her minor children to the public. Someone is really debating this? What part of minor do these various adults not understand? This mother took advantage of her children in a most inexcusable manner and she needs a smack down for it. If she posted these pictures on line, instead of a gallery she would be up on charges and if she were a he—as in father—the jail door would have already slammed shut.

Today on Ankarlo Mornings: Sometimes while watching the Olympics you get patriotism from unlikely sources. Today it comes from Kobe Bryant. He told NBC’s Cris Collinsworth he placed his USA uniform on his bed and just stared at it for a few minutes and he got goosebumps. Way to go Kobe.

Glenn Beck joins Ankarlo today as we are just over two weeks away from Talk The Vote Live.

Also, Ankarlo is a little freaked out today because a local artist took naked pictures of her children and posted them in an art gallery. Her daughter is ten years old. It’s a little too close to child porn.

McCain and Obama appear with Pastor Rick Warren over the weekend. Did anyone watch? McCain one upped Obama and Obama appeared to be trying to wow the pastor.  Finally, would you let your child drop out of school in order to play Guitar Hero?  At least one set of parents are.

Talk the Vote: A day after their joint appearance with Pastor Rick Warren, Obama begins to attack McCain–again. Did you catch Obama’s line about abortion during the Saddelback appearance–he said, that is “above his pay grade.” NBC’s Andrea Mitchell floated the idea that McCain was too well prepared for Saturday night’s appearance. In fact, she says he might have cheated. Both candidates were asked the same questions by Pastor Rick Warren and they flipped a coin to see who would go first. Obama went first, McCain was supposed to sit in a cone of silence while Obama answered.

The Redlands Dam broke near the Grand Canyon. Several had to be evacuated.

If you were to display pictures of your children naked in a gallery, would it be art? It’s a little creepy, especially since some pictures of the artists daughter were taken when she was 10. Here is a slide show of artist Betsy Schneider’s work. (Ankarlo talked about these pictures during the show)
Michael Phelps makes it 8 for 8 and sets a new Olympic record. Bolt breaks the world record in the 100m dash. Why is NBC air conditioning their outdoor sets in Beijing?

China is confiscating Bibles from American Christians.

A Sweedish text champion texted a 141 character message in only 61 seconds. Wow.

Just what is Ernest Borgnine’s secret to his health at age 91? Watch if you dare.

17 Saguaro Cacti were stolen in 2007. Now the state is looking at putting micro chips in them to act as a deterrent. Interesting use of taxpayer money.

These parents have let their child drop out of high school in order to focus on Guitar Hero. I know it’s a great game, but seriously…

What the heck are these?
