Henry is Golden!

August 19, 2008

Listen to Ankarlo’s Take, each weekday morning at 7:20 during Arizona’s Morning News.

Phoenix’ own Henry Cejudo travelled to Beijing and ended up conquering the world. Cejudo won the men’s freestyle 55 kilogram wrestling gold–the first win in that category in 104 years and at 21 he’s the youngest wrestler ever to win. Congratulations Henry.

Here’s the rest of the story: he is the son of a woman who came to this country illegally, a woman who would later receive amnesty. Henry fell to the floor with tears of joy and then took the US flag and wrapped it around his shoulders while running around the mat as he declared his love for the US and the Dream that is distinctly American. Indeed, while our anthem played—he wept. He later told me how much he loves this land of ours as he gushed with patriotism. Again, congratulations Henry. “But Darrell,” some will say, “His parents were illegal.” Yes they were and while the problem was still manageable our country gave them a break. I’m against another break now but will tell you one thing—Henry’s family chose to make the most of their gift. The kids learned the language, got good grade, held jobs and embraced the US of A. Many in our midst should look to young Henry for more than his medal—but for a lesson in country pride.

It’s a great day in Arizona, and a great day for Henry and his entire family. Winning a Gold Medal for your “Country” has got to be the just beyond this planet. As an athlete, that is something you can only dream of, but to accomplish it. Well it’s a great day in Arizona.

This is the pride of Arizonians that has been deminished with our new QWEST on QWEST towards an indignant and arrogance approach to Immigration Reform and Immigration Enforcement.

He didn’t win GOLD because he was an immigrant or an “ANCHOR BABY”, he won gold because he is a GREAT ATHLETE who loves his sport and had the discipline to rise above hate, race, pride, or fear. He’s a GREAT ATHELETE because his GOD, FAMILY and COUNTRY where shining bright throughout his life. That is the Arizona that is at war with itself and it’s legislative body. It’s not lacking, it’s hidden in the “SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF” because someone is selling you Mein Kempf in an aggressive “OPPRESSIVE” manner and people are “sleep at the wheel” even though they see it right in front of them.

It is a Great Day in Arizona. A great day for Wrestling, A great day to recognize what this state was built on, and built by. The Cejudo family just reminded us in a GREAT way but I’m sure in their most humble way, that it’s great to be American, and it’s great to say you are from Arizona even though Arizona is a hotbed for rendention, detention, forced attestations, deportation, profiled and secularized “SANCTIONED BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY State.”

ha. ha, ah I knew it, yes sir. I knew that one day diane was going to say that at one time she was an illegal alien. What is the matter Ankarlo, it was ok for diane but not for everybody else, come on, you hate illegals so much that now you have to bite your own tongue, do you think diane recieved amnesty? I bet she did, Thank you,, oh and you said that it was ok because she was white? this day ankarlo you showed your own true colors.

Hopefully I’m not getting in your “Koolaid” Jay Z, but Diane didn’t get Amnesty, she stuck it out for over 10 years to become a citizen of John McCain new and improved “COLD WAR.” She stuck it out to become a citizen, while her brotheren is being forced to “attest” to their nationality, identity, naturalization and citizenship everytime they drive on Route 66, just like anything brown eyed, or brown skin with five or more in the car or vessel. She stuck it out just to be able to comment on how “racist” Arizona has gotten down by Staudemires “On Any Sunday.” She stuck it out when there was “reform” and when “reform” became “illegal.”

As far as the Great Oz Ankarlo, Mr. Smoochy, “Celebrity that likes to spend RICO or “their” Money but forgets on what, because he “Rocks” Nothing like two girls with “white bikinis” on playing Volleyball in the Rain. Is now learning, how difficult Immigration really is. He walked with a man, while wearing “Another Man’s Sombrero” and now he must be experiencing as a “FAMILY MEMBER” as oppose to a “Talk Show Member.” Now that it is close to home, he too will suck it up like Diane, and expect “REFORM” just as much as he expects “ENFORCEMENT.”

Oh Great Oz Ankarlo, “BREAKAWAY MCCAIN ENABLER” save the “Trailer Trash of the Day” and Kick Old Man McCain to the curb and vote “OBAMA/CLINTON”
help get McCains debts off the back of my grandchildren!

It’s still a great day in Arizona, that Gold Medal means a lot, that is the “envy of my world” Awesome and being a child of an immigrant of 30 years, just proves what Arizona was built on, and what Arizona stood for.

Henry is such a delightful young man.

  6. Roger Morris on August 29th, 2008 9:12 pm

But Vicki he is a Mexican, and his mother is an immigrant that has been “FORCED TO ATTEST” to her citizenship or naturalization. You are now taking shelter and possibly abetting a possible felon, did we lose our HOTLINE NUMBER? Did compassion, and a little of the American Immigrant Spirit flow through your blood! Starting to make racism wonder who’s on the side of whom!

  7. vicki on August 29th, 2008 10:30 pm

Roger, how dare you assume I am as racist as you. I am as proud of him as I would be if my little brown eyed mexican boys won such an achievement and were as loving as Henry. Just because we’re mexican dosen’t mean we want open borders. Our heritage doesn’t stop us from loving the rule of law. Our culture brings us joy for each others acomplishments done the right way.
Prejudice is to pre judge without the facts. Just because my name ends in ez doesn’t mean I want to shelter a felon. Your Mrs. Obama thinks like you, assumes all mexicans are afraid of being deported. Many generations of my family have lived in Arizona lawfully, we are not afraid of Joe or bigots like you. The ones who are still in Mexico are happy there.

  8. Roger Morris on September 2nd, 2008 6:06 pm

Vicki, you proved my point! Your Mrs Obama thinks like me, and what Mexican do you know that wants to be deported. What Mexican do you know that isn’t afraid of being deported. It’s not that many of families lived in Arizona lawfully, many of families have lived in Arizona without U.S. Citizenship status lawfully. But those Citizens, those persons aren’t looking forward to deportation 10, 15, 20, years later. Those Citizens, children of immigrant families, mexican immigrants obviously didn’t race to the “You gotta Go Now” 90 day “We will leave you alone” unless you don’t look like you are trying to leave “Family Value Days” What 6 people jumped on that Shoot Straight Express. .

Our heritage doesn’t stop of us from recognizing the rule of law, and what that law is. We have no rule of law, because we have through Republican Federal Preambles skipped that part of the law, and “enforce” enforcement overlooking civil rights, as though those are not afforded to you because you are probably mexican or hispanic or of the latino community, and probably illegal, once I “force” you to attest to your nationality and or naturalization. That’s not the heritage that I know and was taught in the State of Arizona.

Mexicans aren’t afraid of Sherrif Joe, as much as he would like for every man, woman, and child to fear him. I don’t, and I’m not a bigot, you are. The Ones! Your Mrs. Obama! She’s not my stable hen, just like you aren’t sherrif Joe’s stable hen, or maybe you are. Maybe that is the “heritage” you made mention of above. Go to church, and count how many Mexicans are clinging to their “GOD” and cell phone because Sherrif Joe & Vicki LLC is profiling the neighborhood for “Those unlawful Ones” It’s okay!

Roger Morris….you speak as a true “dumbocrat”. Get off the race issue. If Henry would have been born in Mexico…he probably would not have had the training in sports that the American system offers. It is too bad his parents broke the law and live here illegally. But the laws were made for the improvement of the United States. If you break the law…you should be punished. If you don’t like the laws…you can (if you are legal), contact your elected representatives and ask their help to change the laws.

If you are illegal…you have no say about changing the laws or what we do here in the USA. If I was to go to Mexico…you think I could get them to change the laws for me???

Roger….get a life man. Stop being a racist.

Got something to say?
