Taylor’s Not Worth His Gold.

August 20, 2008

Listen to Ankarlo’s Take every weekday morning during Arizona’s Morning News at 7:20.

On Wednesday’s show I told the story about why this year’s Olympic gold medalist in the hurdles, Angelo Taylor, missed the activities four years ago for more than just a physical problem. He had other issues like getting arrested for child molestation after he was caught two times in sexual situations with 15 year old girls. No, I don’t think NBC highlighted that fact. But, it’s what a caller said to me when I expressed my outrage that Taylor was even allowed to race. Said the caller, “He doesn’t represent me, you or the United States.” That’s the problem.

I’m all for privacy but I also believe we have a responsibility to keep one and other in check. This guy can’t run around messing with children and be allowed a free pass. If you go to another country and act like an idiot you certainly represent me and my flag just like I do you when I’m out and about. If no one requires me to behave responsibly and with some decorum as an Ankarlo then I bring scorn to the name. If American citizens are allowed to run amok with no limitations and I get angry looks and angrier words and you support that behavior then as a country we deserve what’s waiting for us.

Ankarlo, find another ax to grind. If the guy did his time and has learned his lesson then who are you to judge. You being such a good christian and all I think would believe in forgiveness and redemption.

You are the last person in the world that I want standing up for me.

Ankarlo, i agree with you and with the caller “he doesn’t represent me, you or the United States”. I hope the Olympic (USA) Selection Committe rethinks their selection (if there’s such a process) before next Olympics about the athletes and their conduct… to me it would be a huge HONOR to wear the uniform of the USA on your chest, i don’t feel he’s worthy of wearing such uniform. Tell ya what, I would have never selected him to represent me and a US citizen and as an athlete. He is no role model athlete to me. i feel sorry for the poor kids and their families, it would seem like a slap in the face to them as his victims. Terrible just Terrible :(

usa olympic track team is turning into a comedy of errors, the absent mindedness is a reflection of our whole nation having a lackadaisical attitude. not everyone thank God, but way to many. sad commentary

Ankarlo, I’m with you on this the U.S. team should have done it’s homework on everyone on any of it’s people that went over to represent OUR COUNTRY!!!!

Let it be known that the guy did not do time and should be still on probation at this time till next year in fact !!!!! But what he has done is nothing compared to the time victims pay in these kinds of crimes. I can not beleive that anyone here in the USA would want some one who is guilty of these crimes, took a plea agreement (was not man enough to stand up for what he did), and has not even finished paying the price for the crime he plead down to. If he did care about being a role model, a olympian, or anything else he wouldn’t have “decided” to commit the crime to begin with!!! Yes I agree with you this guy does not deserve to stand up to represent us!!!!!

    ANKARLO:
YOU ARE RIGHT ON THE MONEY ABOUT THIS GUY. HE SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN PERMITTED TO GO TO CHINA OR THE OLYMPICS. THAT/HE IS A DISCRACE TO THE US. WHAT IF HE MOLESTED A LITTLE CHINESE GIRL WHILE HE WAS OVER THERE???
WHY ISN’T HE WEARING AN ANKLE BRACLET FOR LIFE???

Dell, did Taylor learn his lesson? I don’t think so, because this has happened twice. Ankarlo isn’t damning Taylor to hell, he is just saying that he doesn’t want child molestors, or any other type of criminal for that matter, representing OUR country. By Taylor being able to run for our country, we are saying that we condone his behavior. It’s called Ankarlo’s Take, not The World’s Take. Maybe you and Taylor should move to a country where having sex with children is accedpted.

Got something to say?
