September 2, 2008

Ankarlo, Rob and Aaron are still in Louisiana and are trying to get to the Republican National Convention, in the meantime their were things that needed to be discussed. Today Ankarlo had stories to tell about how he tried to save a building with a can of  Mountian Dew and how nice his motel was where he and his crew got to stay at. Of course the news of future grandmother Sarah Palin came into the mix and some of the protesting going on at the Republican National Convention and alot more.

Just a comment on the silly and unimportant side of news locally. Just another example of how taxpayer money gets spent in Scottsdale. This morning Sept 3rd I’ll be going before a judge and prosecutor to address my throwing out a handful of sunflower seeds (bird food) out my car door.

I am so glad someone is saying something about Sarah Palin. I think I am a very liberal minded woman. I raised 2 children as a single mom, dealt with a teenage pregnancy. Was a late teenage mother (19) and handled my children very well.

There are many reasons girls get pregnant. You know what they are, bad home life, abusive parents, neglective parents etc.

    I digress…

When I watched Sarah Palin on Saturday, her speech was amazing. She was powerful, decisive, had a great background, though local. I was enthusiastic., but I kept looking at her family behind her. Something was aching in the pit of my stomach.

How do you have a baby , a Down’s Syndrome baby, while governor and do both jobs equally well? I’m sorry, it is not easy. Then 4 months later decide to be vice-president.

I’m not a feminist, I’m not pro-life, I’m not a gung ho protestor. I’m trying to look at all angles. I also will not vote for someone because they are female, black, Catholic, whatever. I don’t jump on bandwagons. I vote for who will do the best job. We don’t have anyone doing that and haven’t in 100 years.

She claims they made a decision to have this baby. Together or “Here honey, I popped him out, you take over, I’m headed to Washington”?

I guess my gut feeling is she is not the perfect mother, she is the perfect politician. Dump your family and head for the city lights. I feel sorry for her family and her daughter who is pregnant. She was screaming out for attention or out of loneliness.

In my case, my son was utterly distraught watching my mother dying in the next room of cancer and me running around trying to make ends meet. There is a reason for everything that happens in life. You can’t give 100% to family and your job, especially the vice-presidency.

We shall see what happens. I don’t see the marriage of her daughter being the solution, just the “nice” thing to do to appease the Christian right wing.

We’ll look at it like the men do. Forget her family and just look at what she does in her job.

Got something to say?
