Bailout not the only way

September 26, 2008

The bailout.  I don’t know how many times I’ve received email messages that contain links to newspaper articles writing years ago, most notably 1999 and 2003, about the democrats and their decisions caused this economic crisis.  Meanwhile, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid continually bombard us with headlines that scream how this was all caused by the republicans.  In fact, when challenged, Speaker Pelosi adamantly lunged forward with her body language and railed on the fact that it was all Bush’s fault.  It was weeks ago when I first shared details I had learned about the formation of Freddie and Fannie, deregulation,  new and incoherent banking instruments and the like and from all I’ve learned—both sides are equally to blame.  Equally.  The great thing about America is that we are a Representative Republic and the bad thing about this country is that we’re a Representative Republic.  We count on politicians to do our bidding and then forget to follow up.  If this economic kick-in-the-pants can do anything for us it is to force us—for the first time in a long time—to pay attention to things going on in the world and to challenge words and promises of our elected many.  At this point, the name calling and blame games are wrong and unpatriotic so these leaders need to stop it and we need to hit them all hard with the message that we are once again engaged and will not tolerate their stunts any longer.
