Halloween Stupidity

Two University of Arizona students need a lesson in civics, and compassion and manners. The idiots went to a Halloween costume party dressed as a building and a mode of transportation. “Darrell, you demonize these kids for that? Come on!” Okay, how about another detail I may have left out—the young lady (and I’m stretching it to call her that) was dressed as an airplane. The gentleman (and he is not) was dressed like one of the World Trade Center Buildings, complete with bodies falling out of windows. Are you kidding me? Are young people really this desensitized? Where is the shame? Where are the memories of the pain? Why are the devastating images not seared into their brains—forever? Perhaps our state’s universities should spend a little more time teaching history—especially recent history—that changed this country forever.
Ankarlo’s Take is written for broadcast. You can hear it every weekday during Arizona’s Morning News at 7:20 on News/Talk 92.3 KTAR.
Update: We know now their names; Nicole Cassese and her boyfriend Yael Nadel-Cadaxa. New pictures have also surfaced. Apparently, they practiced their “crash” before they went to the party. According to thedirty.com, Yael wanted to burn toy firefighters and glue them to his World Trade Center costume. Unbelievable. We’ve also been busy behind the scenes trying to secure an interview with Nicole and Yael.
Nicole has gone into hiding and has changed her name on her Facebook page. Also, of note, according to a party attendee several people were quite upset at her and Yael’s costume. He noticed they were not at the party long after the host asked them to remove their costumes. Maybe, there is help after all.
Ankarlo.KTAR.com Update:
Nicole wrote a guest column in the Arizona Daily Star in 2005. She wrote about the documentary, “Out-Foxed: Rupert Murdoch’s War on Journalism.” In the column, Nicole writes, “The documentary showed Fox News as a sad excuse for journalism. It was shown as an obvious right-wing news outlet in film, and I processed my thoughts on how news should be unbiased–and therefore I should not be able to discern the views of the anchors and reporters.” Later in the piece, “I promise to deliver real news, so that viewers can form their own opinions, once presented with all the facts.” Maybe she should take her own advice. Here’s more, “If I stick with my major (fingers crossed) and ever become a reporter, I can asure you this, I will stay true to what journalism really is.” She forget to add unless she was at a Halloween party.

Oh Great Oz Ankarlo, Isn’t a beautiful day in Arizona’s neighborhoods?
Just think the College Freshmen of today, was probably only 11 years of age on that Great September Bush/Cheney Administration day. Standing without such knowledge as to the election of 2001, and the Patriot Act signed just days after September 11, 2001. Standing without such knowledge that in just 7 years later they too would be 17, 18 years of age and either on a path to “Iraq” or on a path to college to learn what “Mission Accomplished” meant all those years.
We have kids, we had kids, who have grown up during a War on Terror that has lasted almost a decade. We have kids we had kids that were killed in Iraq at the age of 18. Just eight (8) years ago they were trying to figure out why planes were crashing into the World Trade Center, the building they may of just learned to be.
Kids, now 18 years of age, not an adult by State, Local and Federal statutes but capable of dying on the front lines of a war of lies and deceit.
Freedom of Speech remember, isn’t that what you were preaching the morning ASU decided to “just turn you off?” Was it right, probably not, but was it right for a 11 year now 18 years old to die in Iraq with no exit strategy or the proper body armor? Where is the outcry there? Where is the Fairness Doctrine there?
As I don’t condone what they did, I also take it with a grain of salt, as I know when the sun comes up, most of them will be shipping out to a lonely base in the middle of the desert with no mission, no resolve and no leadership.
Again I would have rather much talked about Rick Renzi or Cindy McCain busting the slob with another man at a Nascar Event. Instead of what college kids are doing beside going to Mars and discovering new Renowed Medical Discoveries.
Big deal! It’s not like they go to Willo Canyon High School, the Soda Bottle Bomb making home grown terrorist! Go Charter schools.
These type of kids are brought up with no conscience, no idea about what it’s like to hurt… really and truly hurt. I cannot imagine people like this will someday run our country. God help us.
To: Roger Morris
Sir, you are beneath my contempt.
I agree that this does need to be addressed. When are we going to take a stand against this type of selfish, immoral behavior? People can disown God and disrespect women and try to tear down the institution of marriage. I applaud Ankarlo for bringing this to our attention.
it’s no wonder our society is in such peril with uncaring idiots thinking they are cute! They certainley don’t know anyone how pershied or who is serving in Harms way!!
Maybe we should ship them over to Iraq and see how they fell then.
We need to turn things around where we care about each others. We have become a society or no morale vaules……………
I do not believe the issue is freedom of speech, I believe the issue is responsible journalism and being respectful of national issues that have become issues of today as well as tomorrow. This person in question indicates she is studying or wants to be in journalism … reporting and ‘telling your story’ does not have to be controversial or disrespectful. Being respectful of tragedies that this nation has endured, people have endured, is responsible reporting, responsible journalism. In the future, I can see her hiding behind the cloak of journalism, excusing her writing as freedom of speech … I respect her freedom of speech, I am disrespectful of what she represents. In my years of growing up, it was always showing respect for others … clearly these persons are lacking any respect to others.
Why can’t it be just tough for all of us in different ways? Why can’t it be expressed in many of different ways as it is tough for all of us in different ways? If you were 11 years of age and now 18, and the discussions are as such; why is it so ilconceived to have a difference of opinion or belief. It’s freedom of speech and expression. It may be of deep concern within but it’s still an expression of speech and discussion.
We are on Mars because of the brilliance of these students, regardless of their illconceived, indulgence in their own freedoms and freedom of speech. It’s not harming, it should be alarming. It wasn’t on September 11th, because eight (8) years later, we are still clueless in rememberance.
THESE TWO PEOPLE NEED TO BE DROPPED INTO AFGANISTAN OR IRAQ AND NEED TO SEE FIRST HAND WHAT THE REST OF THE WORLD IS LIKE AND HOW THEY VIEW THE UNITED STATES.
IF THEY GOT TO SEE FIRST HAND WHAT THE REST OF THE WORLD WANTS TO DO THE USA SHE MIGHT CHANGE HER MIND.
NIETHER ONE OF THESE KIDS UNDERSTAND THAT THE REST OF THE WORLD CARES WHAT THEY THINK OR HOW THEY ACT. BECAUSE THEY ARE SIMPLY AMERICANS, MUSLIM EXTREAMISTS WILL NOT HESITATE TO EXECUTE EITHER ONE OF THEM.
HOW DISRESPECTFUL AND INSULTING TO HER FAMILY THAT DIED AT THE WORLD TRADE CENTER. SHE DISRESPECTS THE LIFE OF HER AUNT!
I HOPE ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE OUTRAGED ENOUGH THAT THIS GIRL RECIEVES A GOOD PUNISHMENT! MAYBE THE OTHER FAMILIES WHO LOST PEOPLE IN THE ATTACK WILL COME OUT AND TEACH HER A LESSON.
SGT USMC
this is the ignorance that votes people into office. she thinks that 9/11 was a setup? obviously its the mind of a person who is a pure follower. drones votes obama in and drones do things like this and support moveon.com.. there is no freedom in being a drone. she said that we are all conforming to this messed up society when she is the one who is the product of this messed up society and is defending her stupidity…
your caller was right.. without repremand? yeah, only in America
No Excuses for these people. We keep calling them kids but they are legally responsible for their actions at 18 years old and their “free speech.” They are fully responsible for what they did and that includes all the consequences.
No sympathy, and no respect, no excuses for them. I did not loose anyone in the World Trade Center Attack but I am not, nor anyone I know their age, are stupid and heartless enough to make fun of this even if they think it was a conspiracy. Conspiracy or no, a terrible thing happened and so many people died, lives ruined, families devastated. It changed everything for our country. I remember, and they will get no excuses or forgiveness from me.
In Europe many colleges have a code of conduct for students on and off campus. I have often thought we needed that here. This would be a prime example of why. If all these people think they are not mature enough to understand the terrible choice in Halloween Costumes, then there should be something they answer to. If you are an adult you are responsible, if not you answer to someone. Either way you pay the consequences.
The devastating images from September 11th are not seared into their brains forever because the experts in “the media” decided the images were too disturbing to show on the air and would just “breed anger”. Everyone needs to listen the the Darryl Worley song “Have You Forgotten”. This song pretty much sums it up.
My heart is so sad to know that stupidity rings true in this younger generation. Some people must be slapped in the face with tragedy to just get it. She must have had zero respect for her aunt (a tragic victim). Her Mom or Dad, whoever her aunt was related to must be so appauled at her actions. If she were my kid, (and thank God I have’nt contributed to this disgrace of a generation) I would slap the crap out of her. I am 40, and I am sure that my generation was the last to be demanded to learn respect for everyone and everything, I believe there is no hope for the world after my generation dies off. God Bless America. : (
Todd Kandaris, I thank you, you’ve given me a title that will reflect my opinions the rest of the New Year to come! Beneath my Contempt! I like that, but unfortunate, my title will begin “Beneath my Contempt, by George Bush and Dick Cheney” and the K-Street PNAC Boys and Girls Club! Kinda long, but yet subtle in discussion.
Beneath My Contempt! To honest believe that George Bush and Dick Cheney didn’t know about it before hand and took the opportunity to establish a more pefect “Union” between one man and one woman in America. Establish a more pefect “Union” between One Secretary and the other Secretary unto you!
Todd Kandaris, I thank you for your inspiring words of “Titlemanship” if that’s a word or not. Onward Blitzkrieg, Onward! Meet the “Secretary”
Go Patriot Act! Go Homeland Security! Go Real ID Act! Go EEVS! Go, get in line and “attest” to your naturalization and citizenship before I “force” you to. Go Protect America Act! Ooops Satan Bill 1639 “failed” at the pulpit and by “Striking” Attorney General, didn’t happen. So these kids still have “constitutional” rights afforded to them that is so “Beneath my Contempt” Gastopo Todd!
These are the kind of losers that grow to to blog with fake names like Morris or Dell on this website. That is the closest to journalism they will see. Cries for the fairness doctrine, because there opinions have to be forced. Air America was a failure. MSNBC ratings are so low I dought there own families watch.
OMG I cannot believe this and people were calling and defending these idiots? What the heck is next people dressing up as a Japanese Zero and the USS Arizona for a party and thinking that its funny. I cannot express my true outrage over this disgrace to those brave men and women that went into those buildings and gave there lives to save the innocents. COMPLETLY UNCOOL!!!
Beneath My Contempt Speaks! defending idiots, defending losers, defending Air America, defending MSNBC. The closer we get Vicki, yes, the closer we get; to the all truths that are self-evident! Because even then, you are still stuck on the Suspension of Disbelief. Reality isn’t reality to you, it’s the myth, this hour glass full of glass and not sand! It’s tough being a nation of “secular” laws as though we were some third world country just now evolving.
This is why I came back to this board, Arizona has some sick, psycho minded, individuals that need some serious spiritual, medical and psychological help!
Please send $50.00 for the session as it is not free in mainstream America!
The dog will bark at midnight! You can continue to be wrong and only continue to beat me harder! The dog that barked in the midnight “Stars & Stripes.”
As a army brat who saw the Berlin Wall, Check Point Charlie, and walked through
Dachau CC camp..
these two PUNKS have not got a clue about HISTORY nor events repeating ..nor will they give a rats behind when they give up all their freedoms for the illusion of security…
they are too busy posting their BIG EGOS on line..
its all about Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
they are mouthbreathers born of a generation of parents

employers go ONLINE TOO…=snicker=
good luck VALLEY GIRL…
LIKE, YAH KNOW, LIKE your a LOOSER !!!!!!
My husband has heard most of the broadcast about this photo (Friday and Monday) and when he got home he expressed his irritation. Suprising, because we rarly have a bone to pick with this show. He said he wished ‘Ankarlo would get over it’ with this story. He didn’t know I had downloaded the picture. After I showed it to him, I helped him understand the reasoning. It’s not about “THE PICTURE”, it’s about the lack of respect, compassion, dignity, forethought (look it up if it’s a new word, Mr. Morris) and personal freedom. What about the personal freedom of other students to enjoy a party free of the horrible memories of a national tragedy. If you are not part of this tragedy then where were you? Play the age card all day long, but those are college kids now. Grow up! We have an 8 year old up for murder…by the way, she sounds French but where’s YAEL NADEL-CADAXA from…Thanks for digging around.
Narcissism. I truely believe that we are bringing up a generation of narcissists. None of them has gone through hardship of considerable loss. Their parents all had ” child of the month” bumper stickers on their cars and are proud of their ‘helicopter parents” status. We have elected the King of narcissists. I am sad for the future if they are to be running it.
Roger again you open your mouth and crud comes spewing forth.
“Freedom of Speech remember, isn’t that what you were preaching the morning ASU decided to “just turn you off?” Was it right, probably not, but was it right for a 11 year now 18 years old to die in Iraq with no exit strategy or the proper body armor? I as an NCO in the US Army I am appalled at the lack of knowledge and hatred you spew forth at the US Armed Forces. I have been deployed 3 times to 2 different theatres. Each and every time I left I was given more and more gear. This time around I was very fortunate to be issued a Caiman MRAP (if you dont know what it is GOOGLE it) . Your comments here are baseless everyone who enlists or gets sworn into the military has a mission, resolve and leadership. My mission this time around was Police Trasition Team (PTT). I was my teams leadership. We had 100% return from theatre with 16 insurgents going to see Allah.
Eric send your letter to the Secretary of Defense, it sounds like you have some issues that you still are trying to find “resolve” towards! Take pride in your “leaderrship” as I’m sure you do. As you can speak for the 16 insurgents that went to see Allah, maybe you have some condolence for the 4800 men and women who didn’t go see Allah but God! Maybe you have no condolences for the 1.5 million Iraqi people that have perished right along side of the 4800 men and women. I would send my letter to the Army or your 1st Sargeant, as your “Job” became your “mission.” An eleven year old 11 doesn’t have the same “mission” or “job” as you, while seeking his or hers “leadership” skills in the “secular” walls of this nation right now. My father served 26 years in the military and died from Agent Orange, so your comments are baseless to me!
