Speed Camera Mask

January 22, 2009

By now, you probably know that I hate speed cameras.  Not only are they a blatant money grab, but they are un-American.  You don’t get to face your accuser and we are effectively allowing our government to create a surveillance society by watching our every move.  So, I have come up with a plan.  It’s a full face visor.  Wear this to hide your indentity.  This is what they look like:

Here’s what it looks like on me.

Let’s beat these cameras any way that we can! Let me know what you think.

  10. lauren on January 22nd, 2009 3:23 pm

Very nice!!! I have tried looking for a batman mask to wear while driving on the freeways but I have not had any luck :o( I like the idea of preventing sun damage and speeding tickets by wearing one of these helmets!

We need to put one of these babies up for raffle on KTAR rewards!

  11. Glenn on January 22nd, 2009 3:24 pm

You need to get the kind of visor that will flip up so you can drive with a clear field of view and then flip it down when you come up on the camera.

  12. Scott on January 22nd, 2009 3:29 pm

very funny it hides the mug well.i hate these cameras as well but i have to wonder if we get rid of them where will they tax us to make up for it?and you know they will.the way i see it this is a tax we can control get rid of them they will come up with something else we cannot control

  13. seua on January 22nd, 2009 3:29 pm

    I want that ankarlo haha

  14. Kelly - Queen Creek on January 22nd, 2009 3:31 pm

They make a film for your widshield that’s similar to the plastic covers you put over you license plate that reflects the flash, thus making the picture a blurr. It’s virtually clear and is installed like window tint. This will do the same job without looking like a goof. Sorry Daryl lol. I still love ya….

  15. Jason on January 22nd, 2009 3:48 pm

I absolutely despise these cameras and the surveilance society that is being formed right under our noses.

I really hope the good people of this state wake up to what a blatent abuse of our freedoms these cameras are…..

Only together can we make a difference…

This is great! Give away or sell about 500 and keep the name on them.
(take off the square sticker in front, maybe a small line on the bottom showing KTAR)
This will be all over the news when people are seem wearing them while driving. It Even more people will know about the Ankarlo show.

  18. Louise on January 22nd, 2009 6:15 pm

  19. Kevin on January 22nd, 2009 6:19 pm

You should wax it up too. 3 or 4 times will do.

  20. Dennis Pangowski on January 22nd, 2009 6:30 pm

Hey,Ankarlo, did I hear you say this visor is for public sale??if so how much/where.Let’s gather all these speed cameras and send them to Jannette Nap’o with a bill to pay for them along with the labor costs to install/uninstall and ups delievery chrg’s.

  21. Roger Morris on January 22nd, 2009 6:37 pm

Oh Great Oz Ankarlo, Hero of the Hood, Immigration CZAR to the Right Wing Secularized Phoenicians. Why is it that you don’t find it alarming to be wiretapped, eavesdropped on or datamined. While complaining about the same AZSCAM Camera used to nab Jon Kyl in a deal or no deal for a casino near you. Wiretapping, eavesdropping and getting your picture while driving excessively, knowingly, and willingly.

It’s like driving with “Sanctions” and being “forced” to “attest” to the speed that in which you feel you were driving. We can’t tell if you are brown skin, brown eyed, and possibly hispanic, latino, not caucasion, african american, or from Puerto Rico!

So like Bush, “When Ankarlo does it” it’s not illegal?

  22. Bruce on January 22nd, 2009 6:57 pm

ha ha ha…This is great! Give away or sell about 500 and keep the name on them.
(take off the square sticker in front, maybe a small line on the bottom showing KTAR)
This will be all over the news when people are seen wearing them while driving.
Then even more people will know about the Ankarlo show.

  23. Bryan on January 22nd, 2009 7:52 pm

Make these available as a rewards point

  24. Brian on January 22nd, 2009 11:49 pm

Cool idea. Looks like momentum is gathering to make these cameras illegal. However, we still have a problem on the highways that need to be addressed. Speeding, weaving in and out of traffic to get ahead, and cheating in the car-pool lanes. When I first returned to Phoenix after a 25 year absence due to military service, I was amazed at how many accidents were being reported on the radio each morning. But after starting work and commuting from Baseline to Green Way via the I-17, I can understand why. People are in too big a hurry and I don’t see the police out there slowing things down. From what I hear, we don’t have enough law enforcement to go around. So the cameras were not such a bad idea. Unfortunately, as you have mentioned on your show, we just brake for the cameras and speed up again. Shame on us. In closing, I would like to suggest that where ever there are two or more lanes of traffic moving in the same direction, the left lane should be for passing only. It is these law abiding citizens (you know, the ones who drive the speed limit) that creates the back up for the rest of us. In Argentina, we have “speed lanes”. One lane is slow (55 and under) next lane is medium (60-70) and the left lane is fast/passing (75-85). Around the city of Buenos Aires, trucks are required to stay in left two lanes. Cars flash to pass and people move over. Here, we just mosey along our way while talking on our cell phone and eating a big mac or whopper. Then, at last minute when we realize we are about to miss our exit, zip across 3 lanes of traffic to make it. Yes, that is why we are now having to deal with cameras. - Brian

  25. Brian on January 22nd, 2009 11:50 pm

I meant trucks are required to remain in the right two lanes.

I want one - but no logos or identifiers!

Support AZ HB 2106 - Ban Photo Radar - write to your AZ reresentative and support this bill! See azleg.gov for more info

I can sense a new “Duck Bill” in the making!

  28. Lynn on January 23rd, 2009 3:53 pm

I got flashed yesterday as you discussing the mask with Connie. I had spent a half hour in a traffic jam on the 101 and the van was sitting right past where traffic broke free finally. I was so ticked off! There has to be a simple solution, like yours, to peacefully protest these speed traps and make the costs outweight the profits they are raking in.

  29. Eric on January 23rd, 2009 5:13 pm

I don’t get it…..Ankarlo is supporting LAW BREAKERS? Speeding = law breaking = criminals!!!

    Double standards then?

  30. Gaspar on January 23rd, 2009 10:28 pm

i need one of these… i got flashed today and i was only going 60 on a 65!
    WTF? right?

  31. Spiderman on January 24th, 2009 3:52 am

Are you all ready? (drum roll please……)

More people are killed by people who do not obey “THE RULE OF LAW” on our highways then by illegal aliens!!!!!!

  32. Lecta Wambold on January 24th, 2009 10:53 pm

    Mr. Ankarlo,

I love it! Where can I get one. I too feel the shadow of Big Brother lurking and not so
    unobtrusively!

As for my 2 cents worth FREE, it would be great fun to leave your name on them and let DPS try to track down or explain ALL THOSE tickets for one person. You poor, persecuted man!

    Hugs!

    Lecta

One of my drivers got flashed on the 10 with a posted 75 mph, and our Sprinter vans are governed at 81 mph.
