This morning on Ankarlo Mornings: Ankarlo has had enough of the attacks on Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Mesa police chief George Gascon testified at a Congressional hearing yesterday about rule 287(g). This rule allows police officers to cross train with ICE to help arrest individuals in this country illegally. He takes Gascon and several other outspoken activists to task.
Also, Ankarlo brings in Laurie Thomas and Michael Cameron from the ASH line to help you quit smoking. After all, taxes have increased on cigarettes. Have you seen some of the new anti-smoking ads? Do they go over the line?
Several military members wives are turning to surrogacy to make some extra cash. But, the catch is you are paying for the insurance. Is that right?
There are differing laws regarding surrogacy throughout the United States. Research extensively the rules and regulations regarding surrogate pregnancies to determine the laws that govern your state. In some states, it is illegal to compensate a surrogate woman beyond legal and medical expenses.

Darrell, I wanted to drop you a note on Friday’s show. I am a listener, but Friday I was in Tucson. I know that you work hard to get it right when you speak; however you got some bad information this time.
The Arizona Farm Bureau was not present, nor were we invited to the hearing in D.C. on our Sheriff Joe. Not sure how your information got crossed up, but the slam to the Farm Bureau and my government relations director, Joe Sigg, was simply not correct.
I will tell you that our industry has worked for ten-plus years to fix a problem and a need that this nation has; a legal and reliable work force. We have nothing without the men and women who help us grow and harvest the crops to feed not only this country, but the world.
By the way, Arizona Agriculture is a 9.2 billion dollar industry, and AZ grows over 90% of this nation’s lettuce crop during the winter months. With a legal, available workforce, we will be able to continue to produce food and fiber in this country. If you think OPEC has us over a barrel, you’ll love food from anywhere but here. The notion that we underpay our workers is preposterous. We in Ag are some of the most regulated businesses in the nation; from how we grow your food to the conditions under which our employees work. Mr. Sigg is one of the most respected voices in agriculture and especially on the labor issue. He has been a guest speaker at many forums and has represented us well. I am sure that my good friend, Sen. Russell Pearce, will tell you that Joe Sigg is a stand up guy and a great American. Even Russell has offered to help with a temporary worker bill for agriculture.
Let me be clear, we do not support amnesty, and we work very hard for a legal, reliable, temporary workforce.
As for Sheriff Joe, we have worked with his office over the years and have had a little help in our problem with copper wire theft from irrigation wells, which has been an issue for many years. As of late, we have some issues with lack of law enforcement in rural parts of the county. We have farmers and ranchers who need law enforcement, but it seems that rural Maricopa county is near the bottom of the list. The Sherriff seems to have other priorities. But we choose not to go to D.C. to complain about it.
Let me restate the fact that the Arizona Farm Bureau and Mr. Joe Sigg were not invited to the hearing, and we were not there! You were wrong, and after your comments, the public deserves to know that we did not participate in any way.
In closing, I believe you owe Mr. Sigg and the Arizona Farm Bureau an apology.
