Today on Ankarlo Mornings:
President Obama is calling for year round schooling. Ankarlo says this is a bad idea. First of, we don’t let kids be kids anymore. Second, can we even afford a longer school year? Third, more school days doesn’t guarantee anything. Let’s make the most out of our current system.
CBS released results from a new poll. It’s very interesting. Most people say something that most symbolizes America is Wal-Mart. And more people would want to trade places with George Clooney for a week and Barack Obama (but just barely). Who really wants to be President for a week? But, what should really be the symbol of America? Can you think of anything better?
Gang violence in Chicago is nothing new. But, last week someone captured video of an honor’s student being beaten to death. It’s now all over the media. The story is just awful. How does that relate to Phoenix? Mayor Phil Gordon joins Ankarlo to talk about the success Phoenix has had fighting gangs.
Here’s another one: Should teenagers convicted of crimes (that aren’t murder) be put in jail for life? The Supreme Court will determine if these sentences amount to cruel and unusual punishment. Ankarlo weighs in too.

Thank you for staying in school, thank you, thank you, thank you! Stop the press! Stop the press! (undertone) Obama, World, “Undocumented” He lied! He lied! He wants all “undocumented” unforced attested to go to school! Stop the press! Call Joe Wilson! Call the “RACE” Squad! Call the “Standing Sinners” The “race” to education is actually “racism” in America. It is always about GOP Theft, it is always about “Civil Rights” it is always about educating those immigrant children born in the USA. Stop the press, stop the press! Call the Beckster, the Beckmeister! We ARE MAD AS HELL. That’s the GOP message of hope, anger and that good ol just scream, just shout, just show America what the GOP is all about! “Standing Sinners,” Crossovers by day, Limbaugh idiots by night! Call your Senator! Call Glenn! Call Ankarlo, Obama wants “Education” in America. Too many kids not dropping out! Too many brown eyed, “obama” (POSSIBLY UNDOCUMENTED) brown skin children not dropping out! We need poverty, we need Saggy Bottom No Belt Wearing kids out of the schools and not in the schools! We need “verification of address” we need verification of income or no Education for you! It’s the GOP End Game.
They could keep kids in school 24/7 and it would do nothing to improve the quality of the education of the program. I was a teacher and I enroll students, young and old in online learning. The essays I receive on why they want to go to college are atrocious. It looks like they are Twittering or texting.
The high school diploma isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. They change reading programs like they change the light bulbs. They push them through and push them out. Most students can’t spell, read or point out one state from another. Mediocrity is acceptable.
So, to keep mthem more hours, no. To provide stronger, better curriculum, yes. The federal government knows if they handed out vouchers, most public schools would be empty.
Take a hard look at the curriculum of the private schools that exist on far less money than the trillions we pour into public schools. It works. Discipline works. Wearing clothing that covers up the hormonal crazy bodies works.
And yes, 90 days plus vacation is ridiculous. But make the time they are in the classroom valuable. Also, pay the teachers so they can make a decent wage and not give it to the administrators.
As for Arizona, why do we have so many school districts? NYC has one, eight million people, one district. We are spending far too much money on all these administrations here for one county. Another wasteful spending.

Ankarlo is apparently unaware that many Arizona schools are already on a year round schedule. He should stick to what he knows. That wouldn’t be much though.
The key word is “Quality” no one in the school industry understands the meaning of “QUALITY” or who the schools customer really is.
Just think if they did. Just think if they saw their school as a grocery store, and make sure whatever is on their shelves is what their customers (students) either wanted or truly needed to not only meet their customers expectations but their employees expectations by putting something on the shelf that every customer either internal or external alike needs. Just think if they had a clue what “QUALITY” means when someone says it! Good shot Barbara obviously you have a clue, and if there was something on the shelves of Arizona Schools other than cuts, and less teachers they might get a clue and attack “Quality” in the manner that it should be.
