Official Press Release:

Not since the Civil War has America been so divided over such a seemingly unsolvable issue as U.S. immigration policy.

The president and congress are at an impasse, while vigilante groups patrol our nation’s borders looking for one of the million yearly invaders. Why are 20 million people disregarding America’s sovereign borders and laws to come to this country? Popular radio host Darrell Ankarlo follows the lives of several Mexican citizens as they contemplate their existence south of the border, their temptation to sneak into America, and what waits for them here. To understand the issue first-hand, Ankarlo stared down gun barrels, was caught in the middle of a drug-lord showdown, and then wandered the Arizona desert after illegally sneaking back into America. Another Man’s Sombrero explores issues raised by these personal stories and offers perspectives-often contradictory-from U.S. citizens.

A new study suggests online banking is less safe than we might think.

House passes housing bailout bill after Bush says he won’t veto it. As part of this bill, the U.S. debt limit has been raised by our great Congress. Now, the government can owe an outstanding debt of $10.6 trillion. The current debt stands around $9.5 trillion. Thank you.

Talk the Vote: McCain gives Bush credit for gas prices going down. Does he blame him for the overall price increase though? Obama says Iran poses a grave threat. Is this a change of heart or a realization? Will be able to talk his way out of it?

Is the press ignoring the John Edwards ‘love child’ stories being run in the National Enquirer? Or is there just not enough to go on?

Remember Taco the dog? The poor little thing was cut in half in what the owner believed was a racially motivated attack. Turns out the little dog was attacked by another animal.

Experts tell Congress the middle class is living on the edge. Wages have stagnated and the costs for life’s necessities has increased leaving many Americans living off their credit cards. But, think about how well the American middle class has it.

An Apollo 14 astronaut says the world governments have been contacted by aliens several times, but they are all covering them up. He also noted that if they were hostile we wouldn’t still be here because their technology is so advanced. What would change if other intelligent life existed out there?

A LA City Committee favors banning fast food restaurants in South LA for health reasons. Once again the government is swooping in to save the day. Hooray. Now it goes to the full city council for consideration.

This is a must read. Max Boot’s column on Iraq, Maliki and Obama.

Congress loves the idea of a bailout for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and of course many on Capitol Hill are convinced that millions of Americans caught up in the housing crisis should be saved as well so they’re moving forward. Apparently the stock market likes the idea of the government coming to the rescue yet again because certain sectors like pharmaceuticals, mobile phones and Internet companies saw increases they haven’t seen in almost a half a decade. I understand that some people were victims of cheating lenders, and the law should slam the scammers hard but millions more liked the idea of buying a $750,000 house even though their income never soared about $50,000. And, if that wasn’t good enough, the lenders made sure that the deal offered extra cash just for moving in. So, the borrowers yelled at politicians to take care of them or their votes would go elsewhere and, voila, it’s done.

Now, Wall Street responds favorably by showing strong gains after the announcement of a deal and the cycle continues. Our nation’s economy is caught up in issuing and servicing debt. It used to be centered on tangibles like goods and services—now, it’s all about the paper and because we get a free pass we don’t learn the necessary lessons and when the Street posts big numbers, they don’t get the lesson and so we’re all but certain to repeat it again in the future. By failing to get back to basics now, our kid’s futures are in jeopardy but that doesn’t matter either because by then, the government will be raising them for us. We like that idea.

Thomas Sowell says there is a certain amount of hypocrisy about the mortgage crisis. In the 80’s and 90’s the government complained because not enough people were getting home loans. So the government pushed policies to ease lending rules to increase home ownership. In 2008, the government says too many people received home loans. So, which one do you want?

You guessed it, the division, er debate, is along racial lines. Also, could Obama actually hurt black people in this country? Some are saying if he become the President he might. Why? Because white people won’t worry about the plight of minorities anymore.

Today on Ankarlo Mornings: Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon talks in support of slot machines at Sky Harbor and Libertarian Presidential Candidate Bob Barr explains why he is the right choice for President.

War over Iraq: McCain insists he has been right the whole time. He was right about the war and right about the surge. It was Obama who has been wrong. Obama, meanwhile, spent yesterday in Iraq. He got a tour of Baghdad via helicopter with Gen. David Petraeus and received support from the Iraqi government for troop withdrawals. However, no timetable was established. Quick note: The only reason Iraqis are talking about troop withdrawals is because of the surge’s success. Without it, the country is still in turmoil. Obama has been touting his timetable plan for a year and it certainly wasn’t his plan that caused the turnaround in Iraq.

ABC News notes Obama wasn’t wearing body armor in photos released from Baghdad yesterday.

Michael Yon writes a great piece on Iraq. He says we have won, read more here.

Obama has also spent time trying to win the female vote. He showed up in Unity, NH with Hillary Clinton to woe them, but then turns around and hands out a dress code for female reporters for parts of their foreign tour.

Drudge: McCain’s op-ed piece denied publication by the New York Times after the print a column by Obama. Here is McCain’s.

A Philadelphia TV anchor has been fired and charged for e-mail snooping. He spied on his co-anchor’s e-mail and leaked details to the tabloids.

Arizona could yield significant political power in years to come.

How do you fake your death and get away with it?

Al Gore said America should get off of fossil fuels in ten years last week. Ironically and sadly, Gore showed up to the speech in two Lincoln Town Cars and a full-size SUV. Do what I say, not what I do.

A San Francisco woman wants the city to change it’s sanctuary city policy. Her family was allegedly murdered by an illegal immigrant during a road rage incident. This illegal immigrant had previous arrests, but the Feds were not contacted because of the city’s “refuge” policy.

64% of ‘The Dark Knight’ movie goers plan on seeing the movie again.

Britain isn’t going to be sending the dogs after all criminals. Now, they have to watch out for allergies and religion. Can you imagine the cops asking a criminal while chasing him; are you allergic to dogs and what is your religion?

The IRS has released their annual tax numbers to tell us who pays what. The top 1% of all income earners is paying 40% of all income taxes and the top 10% is responsible for 70% of income taxes. Some (i.e. Obama) want to raise taxes on the rich so they pay their fair share. Seems like they already are paying more than their fair share.

Lines wrapped around theaters and extended for several blocks as Americans swarmed movie houses to see the latest Batman installment. The film grossed $155 million in less than three days and is expecting to pull in almost a quarter of a billion dollars in its first week. In fact, helped by the flick, Hollywood saw more income this past weekend than any other time in movie history.

Meanwhile, high end stereos, HD televisions and decked out computers are selling at a better pace today than they were last year. Not to mention the record setting sales of the new I-phone. These stories should be on the front page with bold-type since so many are telling us that our economy is crashing and a single bank line reminded certain people of the Great Depression.

We are not even near the same place today as we were during that time. People went without food and lived in shanty towns—few had the money for phones, computers and Batman movies at the IMAX. Yes, we are all facing a time when we need to be creative but talk of a depression and people jumping out of window s due to bank failure are just plain wrong.

Business goes in cycles and so do economies and since most of us know this we can dismiss the media’s continual pounding of their collective chests in an effort to create stories that sell more papers and garner greater audiences even if it cripples the rest of the country. Batman has proved, for most of us, we can live lives contradictory to well conceived headlines

They are riding bikes to work, trading in their SUVs and buying store brand products. Economists wonder how long this will last?

Think gas prices are high now? Several organizations are calling on Congress to increase the gas tax in order to continue to pay for road construction.

The 2006 IRS numbers are out. And guess what? The top 1% are paying 40% of all income taxes. I thought Bush’s tax cuts were supposed to benefit the rich. The top 10% pays 71% of all income taxes. The top 10% earns $108,904 while the top 1% makes $388,806.

Turns out, our own government has been part of the whole sub-prime mortgage mess. The FDIC took over a bank years ago and continued giving out questionable mortgages.

Would you stand up on a flight to save 50% off your fare? More than 25% of Americans said they would.

Think our inflation is bad? Try Zimbabwe. They have introduced a 100-billion-dollar note due to their 2.2 million percent inflation rate.
Obama starts his foreign policy tour. His first stop over the weekend was Afghanistan where he met with President Hamid Karzai. Obama called the country, “precarious and urgent.” His next country on his tour will be Iraq. Sen. Joe Lieberman says Obama’s trip there is only possible because of McCain. When Obama heads to Germany he will speak at the Victory Column, not the Brandenburg Gate.

California faces budget problems and of course they are looking at new taxes. One thing they don’t tax is dry cleaning services. Yes, that will taxed next.

Today on Ankarlo Mornings: Dave Carley with People 4 People in Tempe will join Ankarlo. People 4 People is a financial education program founded by Carley after he made several money mistakes in his life.

Also, Chris Casacchia from the Phoenix Business Journal will tell us what jobs remain hot in the Valley even in this shaky economy.

Lets get political: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says Bush is a total failure. Thanks Nancy, what have you done for me lately. Last I checked Congress’ approval rating was only half of what the President’s is and we have three equal branches of government. Her Congress has come up with ways to cut America’s dependence on foreign oil: pay as you go car insurance, more bike trails and more public transportation. How long will that take? The price of oil was again down $5 per barrel to close below $130.

85% of Americans are unhappy with the economy. Worried about the economy? Here is a list of 100 things you can do for free this weekend. Note #5: listen to some podcasts.

Michael Chertoff is warning that European terrorists might be trying to sneak across the border.

Watch out for snakes in the laundry.

The Dark Knight hits the theaters today. Some fans stayed up all night to watch the midnight show or the 3am show. Some theaters even had 6am shows. Now that is a fan for you.

McCain may criticize social security, but he is receiving almost $2,000 a month from it. Thanks to you.

Mexico catches a submarine loaded up with drugs.

Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon admits the city is broke. So he is looking at putting slot machines at Sky Harbor. At least he isn’t looking at raising our taxes again.

100 new speed cameras are coming to a roadway near you. 60 will be stationary and 40 will be mobile.

Blog: Does Obama want to put kids in government schools and programs as soon as they are born? Will his lack of sense of humor hurt him? Krauthammer says Obama has an inflated opinion of himself. Do you agree?

Will McCain get offended by this cartoon?

California may ban trans fat from all restaurants. See, government can save your life.

The Arizona courts rule that illegal immigrants can be charged under human smuggling laws. After all, they smuggled themselves into the country illegally. This is a very interesting decision.

The American Physical Society (an association of physicists has changed their position on global warming because many of their members don’t think it’s human induced.

In my latest book, Another Man’s Sombrero, I describe the racial industrialists—people who have made a living by keeping racial divides alive and well in this country. My perfect example has always been Mr. Rainbow Coalition, The Reverend Jesse Jackson. I know we caught him in early July talking about his desire to castrate Barack Obama but now we know he also used the “N” word in the same conversation.

To be certain, this is Jackson’s position on the word, “we are urging people to stop using the degrading word n***** because we deserve better than that”. It’s degrading, right? So why do you use it sir? Because you’re black and you can? Nope. Not fair—to anyone. Either it’s right or wrong and especially in the context you used it while demeaning the presidential candidate. This is the same guy who led protests against Seinfeld star Michael Richards and radio personality Don Imus. He did all he could to wipe out their careers because he said they were racist. And you aren’t sir? You’re perhaps the worst kind because you need the problems to persist so you have an income.

Race Industrialists are everywhere—to be sure, they’re right here in the Valley. Look at the new lawsuits aimed at Sheriff Joe. He enforces immigration laws and those who want open borders sue him and perpetuate the rift. See, they are everywhere. But, now that we’ve caught one in the act—maybe it will be easier for us to recognize the true stripes of the others.

Rev.
Oil prices fell another $4.14 on Wednesday to close just under $135 a barrel. Iran and Saudi Arabia could buy every house in America just on the value of their oil reserves.

Even though most of America has moved on about the Valarie Plame affair, the House hasn’t. They wanted to see an FBI interview with Dick Cheney, but Bush claimed executive privilege. Sorry, Congress.

A man claims he found a 7-inch knife in his sandwich.

Obama love fest? All the big media stars will head to Europe to cover (maybe, gloat over) Obama’s trip there. Obama also said yesterday he will rid the world of nuclear weapons. He should be careful what he promises.

An NAACP leader says the New Yorker cartoon was another way to “lynch” Obama.

A columnist on the right says Obama is a pickpocket politician because he wants to pick your pocket and give it to someone else.

A company that owns 11 McDonald’s was fined a million dollars for hiring illegal immigrants. Get this; the company, Mack Associates, plead guilty to “to conspiracy to encourage and induce an alien’s unlawful residence in the United States and aiding and abetting an alien to remain in the country.” Congressman Tom Tancredo says more and more law enforcement officers from Mexico are seeking asylum in the United States in order to escape the drug cartels. Tancredo ask, What happens to Mexico if all the good cops flee to the U.S…”

US Airways pilots claim the airline pressures them to cut fuel levels.

Another group is suing Sheriff Joe Arpaio. This time for racial profiling.

Point number one: The media admits the surge has worked. Number two: Young soldiers on their first tour of duty want to go to Afghanistan to fight. Why? There aren’t many battles left in Iraq.

A woman gets into a bar underage. While there she orders a flaming shot. Then, she decided to drink the shot, but she spits it out and burns herself. Now, she is suing saying the flames freaked her out. Apparently, it didn’t freak her out enough to put the liquid in her mouth.

Remember when tattoos were taboo?

Why did Barack Obama change language about the surge on his website? At first, Obama said the surge wasn't working. Now, it says the troops hard work and sacrifice has led to a "better security situation."

Meanwhile, up north, Canada has deported a Iraq War deserter back to the U.S.

Are eight super delegates going back to Hillary?

Man dies after spreading his mom's ashes.

Does Cindy McCain only get around Arizona via plane?

Omar Khadr is not a household name but what happens to this 16 year old terrorist will provide a good snapshot of American values. To refresh your memory, Khadr is the Islamic extremist who, during an attack on US forces, threw the grenade that killed US Army Sergeant Christopher Speer.

The reason I think this story is significant is the scrutiny America is enduring as public opinion, here and abroad, suggests that we provide leniency. Omar’s attorney said,”the tapes do not show a dangerous terrorist, but instead a frightened, wounded, Canadian boy pleading for help from Canadian officials.” He’s reacting to the young man’s wailings in his Gitmo cell where he says “kill me” and cries for his “mommy.” And, people are responding with don’t be so tough on him while others say “America is barbaric.”

Wait a minute—this terrorist had food, water and clothing. We let the Canadian authorities interrogate this Canadian citizen. Sounds pretty accommodating to me! Before you join the chorus of people complaining about Gitmo Layne Morris, a soldier who was attacked in the same insurgent mission was there when Sgt. Speers was killed. “I’ve seen the real Omar. He is a remorseless man on a mission. A mission to kill as many coalition soldiers, including Canadian, as he possibly can.” So, while we feel sorry for the 16 year old killer cry for him momma let’s not forget how Sergeant Speer’s mother has cried every day since he was robbed from her. Again, watch what happens to Khadr—if we get lenient with him kiss this nation goodbye.

The two candidates continue to fight about illegal immigration and the flip flopping label.
We know about IndyMac’s failure, but analysts expect more U.S. banks to fail. But, don’t panic. The stock market was done to some of the lowest levels in a decade.

A newspaper calls for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to resign. They call her reckless as well. Meanwhile, the Speaker sounds hawkish when she says Iran is a world problem and should be dealt with as such.

A billboard in Florida is causing a stir. It shows a picture of the Twin Towers on 9-11 with a caption that reads, “Please don’t vote for a Democrat.”

Indeed, besides the Arch, the brewery is a proud symbol of all things St. Louis—all things American. That’s why the announcement of the $52 Billion dollar sale of the suds supplier to a Belgian company hit so hard—another piece of Americana has gone to the highest bidder. It’s not the first, nor will it be the last, but come on, can’t we keep a couple of these things that define us? Craftsmen tools are made in six other nations, Coke is worldwide and even the Maytag Repairman is trying to figure out his place. Globalization. New markets. Better returns on investments. The sale of our country will fall under those headings and more and yes, I get it. If I’m a shareholder I want the good news of a great windfall. But, that doesn’t mean that I can’t mourn the passing of a legend, a King.

Soon, the Clydesdales will be dancing through the snow with yet another Christmas commercial and I’ll no longer wax nostalgic, I’ll just see dollar signs or, I don’t know—waffles. Belgian waffles do come from the same place don’t they? I guess that’s just something I’ll have to learn. If I have to choose a night school or a Learning Access course I think I’ll take one on geography—Lord knows I need to know where companies are located—you know, the ones that are buying my country.

Sunday night, close to midnight, police were called to a home on W. Cypress Street because of a shooting. There they found Andrew Williams dead after having been shot numerous times. More than 100 rounds of various calibers were used in the attack.

Phoenix police arresed three suspects after a short car chase. The suspects discarded numerous assault rifles and handguns, tactical gear (including Kevlar helmets, bulletproof vests and kneepads) and plenty of ammo.

One suspect, Daniel Garcia-Saenz is an American citizen who spent five years in jail for kidnapping and other charges. Phoenix police are confirming to Ankarlo Mornings Garcia-Saenz moved to Mexico upon his release from jail where he may have picked up some military training. He has told police he received the training south of the border. Police are working to confirm…

The other suspects, Manual Garcia-Trejom and Rodolfo Madrigal Lopez are Mexican nationals who had already been deported for criminal activity. Obviously, it wasn’t hard for them to sneak back in.

Phoenix police also confirm they are working with ICE and officials in Mexico to obtain more information. Sources tells Ankarlo Mornings, the victim, Andrew Williams was originally from Jamaica and most likely involved in the marijuana drug trade.

More details to follow…
