Iraq: he would start a drawn down immediately but would not provide a timeline. Smart. A stale congress: he would meet with them in open air settings so we would know exactly who is and is not doing their part. I like that. Social issues like abortion and gay marriage: keep the government out of our private lives which includes tax dollars to support them. Not bad. Terrorism: he would put sunset clauses on things the government needs to fight on this front, like the Patriot Act, but would remove them if they are no longer needed. Oh, and he likes the idea of better border security.

Right now, Barr has less than 5 percent of the nationwide vote compared to the well-oiled Obama and McCain machines who poll in the forties so his chances of winning are pretty slim. This is too bad because people are disenfranchised and quietly talking about a revolution. A leader from either big party might possibly be that late last hope for them—and the rest of us.

War over Iraq: McCain insists he has been right the whole time. He was right about the war and right about the surge. It was Obama who has been wrong. Obama, meanwhile, spent yesterday in Iraq. He got a tour of Baghdad via helicopter with Gen. David Petraeus and received support from the Iraqi government for troop withdrawals. However, no timetable was established. Quick note: The only reason Iraqis are talking about troop withdrawals is because of the surge’s success. Without it, the country is still in turmoil. Obama has been touting his timetable plan for a year and it certainly wasn’t his plan that caused the turnaround in Iraq.

Some (i.e. Obama) want to raise taxes on the rich so they pay their fair share. Seems like they already are paying more than their fair share.

DMX was arrested again in the Valley. Batman sets a box office record, but Ankarlo and Diane didn’t see it. Rob and Darrin highly recommend the movie.

Meanwhile, high end stereos, HD televisions and decked out computers are selling at a better pace today than they were last year. Not to mention the record setting sales of the new I-phone. These stories should be on the front page with bold-type since so many are telling us that our economy is crashing and a single bank line reminded certain people of the Great Depression.

We are not even near the same place today as we were during that time. People went without food and lived in shanty towns—few had the money for phones, computers and Batman movies at the IMAX. Yes, we are all facing a time when we need to be creative but talk of a depression and people jumping out of window s due to bank failure are just plain wrong.

Business goes in cycles and so do economies and since most of us know this we can dismiss the media’s continual pounding of their collective chests in an effort to create stories that sell more papers and garner greater audiences even if it cripples the rest of the country. Batman has proved, for most of us, we can live lives contradictory to well conceived headlines

Consumers are changing their buying habits. They are riding bikes to work, trading in their SUVs and buying store brand products. Economists wonder how long this will last?

When Obama heads to Germany he will speak at the Victory Column, not the Brandenburg Gate.

My perfect example has always been Mr. Rainbow Coalition, The Reverend Jesse Jackson. I know we caught him in early July talking about his desire to castrate Barack Obama but now we know he also used the “N” word in the same conversation.

To be certain, this is Jackson’s position on the word, “we are urging people to stop using the degrading word n***** because we deserve better than that”. It’s degrading, right? So why do you use it sir? Because you’re black and you can? Nope. Not fair—to anyone. Either it’s right or wrong and especially in the context you used it while demeaning the presidential candidate. This is the same guy who led protests against Seinfeld star Michael Richards and radio personality Don Imus. He did all he could to wipe out their careers because he said they were racist. And you aren’t sir? You’re perhaps the worst kind because you need the problems to persist so you have an income.

Race Industrialists are everywhere—to be sure, they’re right here in the Valley. Look at the new lawsuits aimed at Sheriff Joe. He enforces immigration laws and those who want open borders sue him and perpetuate the rift. See, they are everywhere. But, now that we’ve caught one in the act—maybe it will be easier for us to recognize the true stripes of the others.

Rev. Jesse Jackson used the n-word when talking about Obama during his much publicized “off-mic” remarks.  The Fox News Channel certainly knows how to extend a news story.  Though they haven’t released the tape, the FNC says the n-word was when Jackson said, “Barack is talking down to black people…”telling [n-word] how to behave.  Keep in mind Jackson wanted rappers to stop using the n-word a couple of years ago.

Oil prices fell another $4.14 on Wednesday to close just under $135 a barrel.  Iran and Saudi Arabia could buy every house in America just on the value of their oil reserves.

Even though most of America has moved on about the Valarie Plame affair, the House hasn’t.  They wanted to see an FBI interview with Dick Cheney, but Bush claimed executive privilege.  Sorry, Congress.

Point number one:  The media admits the surge has worked.  Number two:  Young soldiers on their first tour of duty want to go to Afghanistan to fight.  Why?  There aren’t many battles left in Iraq.

The reason I think this story is significant is the scrutiny America is enduring as public opinion, here and abroad, suggests that we provide leniency. Omar’s attorney said,”the tapes do not show a dangerous terrorist, but instead a frightened, wounded, Canadian boy pleading for help from Canadian officials.” He’s reacting to the young man’s wailings in his Gitmo cell where he says “kill me” and cries for his “mommy.” And, people are responding with don’t be so tough on him while others say “America is barbaric.”

Wait a minute—this terrorist had food, water and clothing. We let the Canadian authorities interrogate this Canadian citizen. Sounds pretty accommodating to me! Before you join the chorus of people complaining about Gitmo Layne Morris, a soldier who was attacked in the same insurgent mission was there when Sgt. Speers was killed. “I’ve seen the real Omar. He is a remorseless man on a mission. A mission to kill as many coalition soldiers, including Canadian, as he possibly can.” So, while we feel sorry for the 16 year old killer cry for him momma let’s not forget how Sergeant Speer’s mother has cried every day since he was robbed from her. Again, watch what happens to Khadr—if we get lenient with him kiss this nation goodbye.

The two men called each other “politicians,” “liars” and took multiple cheap shots.  And I played referee.  I know both men pretty well and when they are apart they’re usually quiet and unpretentious.  But mention the other guy’s name and eyes start to bulge, veins pop out and voices are raised.  This is out of control and is counterproductive to keeping the Valley safe and moving forward.  People in other parts of the country actually laugh when I mention that I’m from Phoenix because they’ve heard of the war.  No, not the war on illegal immigrants—the war between the Hatfields and McCoys (er, Phil Gordon and Joe Arpaio).  Remember, it’s an election year.  The governor and Mayor Phil are Democrats and Sheriff Joe is a Republican.  Is this playing a role in the spat?  I have zero doubt—and it’s just plain wrong. 

Are Phoenix cops fighting illegal immigrants?  Of course.   Are the Sheriff’s deputies taking care of business?  There is no doubt.  It’s time for these two personalities who have made the drama over illegal immigration very personal to call a cease fire.  Now.  Before someone really gets hurt.

We know about IndyMac’s failure, but analysts expect more U.S. banks to fail.  But, don’t panic.  The stock market was done to some of the lowest levels in a decade.

A  billboard in Florida is causing a stir.  It shows a picture of the Twin Towers on 9-11 with a caption that reads, “Please don’t vote for a Democrat.”

The sale of our country will fall under those headings and more and yes, I get it. If I’m a shareholder I want the good news of a great windfall. But, that doesn’t mean that I can’t mourn the passing of a legend, a King.

Soon, the Clydesdales will be dancing through the snow with yet another Christmas commercial and I’ll no longer wax nostalgic, I’ll just see dollar signs or, I don’t know—waffles. Belgian waffles do come from the same place don’t they? I guess that’s just something I’ll have to learn. If I have to choose a night school or a Learning Access course I think I’ll take one on geography—Lord knows I need to know where companies are located—you know, the ones that are buying my country.

Phoenix police arresed three suspects after a short car chase. The suspects discarded numerous assault rifles and handguns, tactical gear (including Kevlar helmets, bulletproof vests and kneepads) and plenty of ammo.

One suspect, Daniel Garcia-Saenz is an American citizen who spent five years in jail for kidnapping and other charges. Phoenix police are confirming to Ankarlo Mornings Garcia-Saenz moved to Mexico upon his release from jail where he may have picked up some military training. He has told police he received the training south of the border. Police are working to confirm…

The other suspects, Manual Garcia-Trejom and Rodolfo Madrigal Lopez are Mexican nationals who had already been deported for criminal activity. Obviously, it wasn’t hard for them to sneak back in.

Phoenix police also confirm they are working with ICE and officials in Mexico to obtain more information. Sources tells Ankarlo Mornings, the victim, Andrew Williams was originally from Jamaica and most likely involved in the marijuana drug trade.
