Here’s what went down Tuesday on G&A…
* Coyotes’ captain Shane Doan filled in for the vacationing Gambo.
* Continued Road Struggles. The Diamondbacks return home tonight after a 2-5 East Coast road trip without the services of the struggling Eric Byrnes who was placed on the DL this afternoon. Ash & Doan are amazed at the season Chipper Jones is putting together. Doan thinks the D-Backs’ cold bats will break out this week being back at home.
* NL Worst. What was initially thought to be one of the toughest divisions in baseball, the NL West has been a huge disappointment through the early part of the season. Doan wonders what happened to the
* Our baseball insider Tim Kurkjian from ESPN checked in for his weekly segment to breakdown the D-Backs’ rough East Coast trip, the red-hot play of Chipper Jones, and the last-place New York Yankees.
* State of the Coyotes. The NHL playoffs are in full-swing and the Coyotes are again watching from home. Doaner shared his thoughts on the season that was and why the NHL is struggling among the other top sports. He also talked about playing for “The Great One” and where the franchise is headed moving forward.
* New Cardinals’ linebacker Clark Haggins discussed his first season of OTA’s which continue this week in
* Big Brown Back in Town. Big Brown returned to the track today as he continues his quest for the Triple Crown. Doan, whose family owns horses, feels Big Brown’s injured hoof isn’t too severe. The guys debated if it would be a big risk having Big Brown race and risk further injury or not race at all and miss out at a chance for the Triple Crown. Ash wonders how much a week off will hurt the horse.
* Eric Byrnes is on the DL with a bad hamstring. Doaner says hamstring injuries are tough to play through and rest is really the only remedy.
