On Steve’s time

Here’s what went down Thursday on G&A

* Gambo made his return from Disneyland.

* Taking Their Time…Gambo reported the Suns interviewed Tyrone Corbin for a second time today, Elston Turner will be in-town to chat tomorrow, and Terry Porter is expected to get a second visit, as well. Ash likes the fact that Kerr is taking his time with the hiring process. Turner is getting higher and higher on Gambo’s wish list. Ash’s top choice is still Porter. Gambo wonders if you go with the experience of Porter or the defensive expertise of Turner.

* Is Tonight the Night? G&A discussed what could be the end for the World Champion Spurs. G&A agree it couldn’t happen to a better bunch of floppers. Speaking of floppers, the NBA says there’s going to crack-down on it. Ash thinks this is going to be tough for refs to decipher. Gambo wants to know what the NBA is going to do get the officiating more consistent.

* Our ESPN NBA analyst Tim Legler shared his thoughts on the Celtics 106-102 Game 5 win over the Pistons and the one-game revival of Ray Allen. Legs also previewed Spurs-Lakers Game 5 tonight at Staples Center and chimed in on the on-going Suns’ coach search.

* Cardinals’ defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast checked in to break down the second week of OTA’s which wrapped up this afternoon in Tempe. He also discussed Darnell Dockett’s holdout and the early progress of first-round pick, cornerback Dominique Rogers-Cromartie.

* Kimbo Mania!…YouTube legend Kimboslice hits network television this weekend when he faces off against some guy named James Thompson in the cage on the same week he graced the cover of ESPN Magazine. Gambo thinks Kimbo has a chance to be a legitimate fighter. Ash loves Kimbo and thinks he has a chance to be the best cage fighter ever. Both agree his popularity will only increase…as long as he doesn’t lose anytime soon.

* Struggles Continue…the D-backs are slumping on the mound and at the plate. G&A agree the biggest concern is the club’s high strikeout total so early in the season. Ash doesn’t think Dan Haren has lived up to the expectations of trading away 5 top-tier prospects. Gambo thinks he’s been only ok to this point, but still likes the trade.
