Summer shopping for D-Backs

Here’s what went down Wednesday on G&A

Short show before Diamondbacks’ baseball in D.C.

* Unemployed No More? Are the Diamondbacks considering signing Barry Bonds? Gambo reported the team does NOT intend to sign the “homerun king.” Gambo would rather see the D-Backs lose, then sign the “me-first” Barroid. Ash doesn’t want to see Bonds in Sedona Red and would love to see him never win a World Series ring. Both agree he should take the hint and go away…for good. Calls were split. G&A were shocked some D-Backs’ fans would support inking Bonds.

* Summer Shopping. Gambo reported the Diamondbacks have interest in Rangers’ troubled, but talented, outfielder Milton Bradley. Bradley is hitting .315 with 17 homers and 54 RBI’s. Ash wonders what the asking price will be to swing a deal. Gambo thinks Texas would want Micah Owings and a prospect in return. Ash says thanks, but no thanks.

* Trying Tyronne? Free-agent point guard Tyronn Lue was offered a one-year contract by the Suns while swingman Gordan Giricek will not return. The deal is not done and Gambo confirmed Lue has concerns about the Suns. The club is also looking at veteran Anthony Johnson to possibly back-up Steve Nash. G&A discussed former Sun James Jones’ new deal with his hometown Heat. Both agree the Sixers will be a major factor after yesterday’s signing of Elton Brand.

* D-Backs’ skipper Bob Melvin checked in for his weekly visit to discuss the current east coast road trip, Micah Owings’ returns to the mound this afternoon, the club’s growing injury list, and his thoughts on free-agent Barry Bonds.

No show tomorrow…help support Doug & Wolf’s Big Pitch from Dave & Buster’s at Tempe Marketplace!
