Here’s what went down Monday on Gambo & Ash…

Devils’ Doomed - Georgia pounded ASU Saturday night at Sun Devil Stadium. Gambo thinks Dennis Erickson should have listened to his advice last week and just not even tried to run the ball on the Dawgs’ strength and speed defensively. Ash feels the Devils just aren’t ready for primetime and may be hurt by the “big city” factor that Columbus, Eugene, and Ann Arbor have being the only show in town. Both agree next week’s game at Cal will make or break the season.
Right Move? - Cards’ coach Ken Whisenhunt opted to punt the ball away on 4th and four with two timeouts late in the 4th quarter. The ‘Skins never gave the ball back and went on to a 24-17 win. Gambo thinks Whiz should have rolled the dice since the down and distance was reasonable and the game was hanging in the balance. Ash thinks this puts even more pressure on the Red Birds to pick up a win against the Jets this weekend in New York. Gambo would like to see any of the Cards’ “other” wide receivers step and make plays to take the pressure off Fitzgerald and Boldin. G&A agree the Cards didn’t get any breaks against Washington.
Cardinals’ color analyst and co-host of Doug & Wolf Ron Wolfley checked in LIVE from D.C. to breakdown the Red Birds’ disappointing 24-17 loss to the Redskins yesterday at FedEx Field. Wolf thought Whiz made the right move to punt the ball away late in the 4th quarter.
Snakes Alive! - The Diamondbacks are only 2.5 games behind the Dodgers heading into tonight’s game in St. Louis. One week of regular season baseball to play. The Dodgers are idle so a win tonight could shrink the margin to two. G&A debated if the D-backs can stay hot and, maybe more importantly, the lowly Padres can help out by beating LA. Both agree tonight is a must-win - especially with Brandon Webb on the bump.
