Ricky Being Ricky

Here’s what went down Tuesday on G&A

No Memory Lane for Kiffin - Al Davis dropped the hammer on head coach Lane Kiffin today even though the Raiders played harder for Kiffin than any other in recent Raider history.  Kiffin finished with a record of 5-15.  Gambo wonders why Davis would have such a quick trigger after just 20 games with the up-and-coming coach like Kiffin.  He also feels the Raiders just don’t have enough talent to compete right now, but stayed competitive under the former coach.  G&A agree Davis is more of a problem than a solution for the once proud organization.  Ash thinks Davis is a crazy old man who needs to step away and let someone else run the show.

Ricky Being Ricky - Dolphins running back Ricky Williams said he was “very tempted” to smoke marijuana during Miami’s bye week.  Gambo is impressed that Williams would come clean and admit that he wanted to dabble into something that got him suspended from the league because, in the long run, it could help him.  Ash thinks he will be out of the league within a year because Ricky simply won’t be able to stay away.  The guys agree Ricky Williams doesn’t love football.  We took calls.

Our ESPN baseball insider Tim Kurkjian checked in to preview tonight’s Twins-White Sox elimination game in Chicago and shared his thoughts on the NL and AL Division series which start tomorrow.  Kurkjian feels Tim Lincecum will edge Brandon Webb for the National League Cy Young race.

ESPN college football analyst Mark May discussed the wild weekend that included Oregon State’s upset of USC, Ole Miss shocking Florida, Alabama dismantling Georgia in Athens, and the new #1 team in the country - Bob Stoops’ high-powered Oklahoma Sooners.

Cardinals’ starting quarterback Kurt Warner checked in to discuss the Red Birds’ disappointing 54-35 loss to the Jets Sunday at The Meadowlands.  He was 40-57 for 472 yards and 2 touchdowns, but threw 3 interceptions as the Cards’ fell to 2-2.  Warner is happy to be back at home for the next two games before the bye-starting with the undefeated Bills Sunday.  He also previewed his America’s Team Ball Drive which supports our troops fighting overseas.  For more information, go to www.kurtwarner.org.

Tomorrow we’ll be joined by Hall of Fame coach-now ESPN college football analyst Lou Holtz, BYU quarterback Max Hall, Diamondback skipper Bob Melvin, and ASU AD Lisa Love.
