Bracket bustin!

Here’s what went down Friday on G&A

A Game to Remember - Syracuse beat UCONN (finally) last night in the Big East Tournament 127-117 - it took 6 overtimes to do it.  The game lasted 3 hours, 46 minutes.  It ended at 1:22AM EST.  ‘Cuse point guard Jonny Flynn played 67 of the 70 possible game minutes.  Gambo thinks this will go down as one of the greatest in NCAA basketball history.  Ash definitely feels this is one of the more memorable games, but likely not one of the best of all-time.

Radford head coach Brad Greenberg checked in to discuss his teams run to March Madness.  The Highlanders knocked off VMI to win the Big South last weekend.

Western Kentucky head coach Ken McDonald joined us.  The Hilltoppers are back in The Dance after defeating South Alabama to claim the Sun Belt title.

The head coach of the Robert Morris Colonials Mike Rice discussed his teams dramatic win over Mount St. Mary’s to win the Northeast Conference and secure their place in the brackets next week.

It’s Over, Baby! - ESPN college hoops blown hard Dick Vitale told Doug & Wolf that he feels there’s “no chance” UofA makes it back to the Big Dance.  Gambo thinks Dickie V. is dead on.  Ash still believes, due to their strength of schedule, RPI, and quality wins (Gonzaga, Kansas).  The question will be answered on Selection Sunday.

The Bison from North Dakota State are in the field for the first time in school history.  Coach Saul Phillips’ squad came back to beat Oakland to claim the Summit League title earlier this week.  He joined the guys this afternoon.

Head coach of the MAAC Champion Sienna Saints Fran McCaffery reflected back on their impressive season and previews his club’s expectations entering the tournament.  Sienna finished 26-7 and 16-2 in conference play beating Niagara in the title game.

Showboat - Jason Richardson’s 360-dunk attempt Thursday night may have cost the Suns a much-needed win over the powerful Cavs last night at U.S. Airways Center.  LeBron James blocked J-Rich (likely fouled him), which led to a big Cleveland run that essentially put a close game out of reach.  The guys think J-Rich was being selfish instead of simply dunking the ball and trying to end their current 5-game win streak.  Has J-Rich, with two public traffic citations including a DUI, hurt more than helped this team?  We took calls.
