Here’s what went down Thursday on G&A
Short show after day baseball at PetCo Park
Curtain Falls on Melvin - Gambo reported at the beginning of the show that skipper Bob Melvin will be relieved of his duties before the homestand starts Friday against the Nationals. When we hit the air, Melvin had not been told by management that he wouldn’t be coming back. G&A broke down the move from every angle. Gambo knows why the organization made the move but wonders if a fresh face and voice in the dugout and clubhouse will make a difference. Ash hates the move, saying the players need to shoulder the blame for their shortcomings. In short, he says this team, and its parts, simply aren’t as good as the organization believed. Who is next in line to replace BoMel? Matt Williams? Brett Butler? Mark Grace? Kirk Gibson? The guys discussed and took calls.
Full show Friday with the latest on the managerial situation, the Manny Ramirez suspension, and we’ll talk NBA playoffs with our ESPN analyst Tim Legler.
