Gambo & Ash: September 25, 2007

Here’s what went down today on G&A

* Short show before east coast baseball.

* Gambo says the D-Backs have already wrapped up the NL West…in short…look for the Padres or Rockies to clinch the division sometime later this week.

* The Saints suddenly stink - so do the Chargers, Bears, etc. Why are so many talented teams terrible this year? The guys discussed and took calls.

* We dove into the Mike Gundy mess. G&A defend the female columnist for writing the story - especially since Gundy couldn’t back up his arguments. Both agree it’s not the media’s job to support athletes. Gambo says it’s ok to be critical of student athletes in college - not high school or below.

* ESPN baseball insider Tim Kurkjian broke down the pennant races - national media still amazed at the success of Bob Melvin’s team.

* ESPN college football analyst Mark May from ESPN shared his thoughts on the Mike Gundy mess, saying he loved the fact that the coach supported/defended his player.
