Dropping the hammer

Here’s what went down today on G&A:

* The Sun Devils are no longer undefeated. G&A agree ASU had their chances, but play-calling cost the Devils their perfect record. Both agree the Rose Bowl is still well within reach, but need some help from some other BCS teams.

* We were joined by ASU quarterback Rudy Carpenter. Rudy said the Autzen crowd made it difficult to audible all game. He says team has not lost confidence and needs to focus now on UCLA this weekend.

* The Suns are off to a somewhat slow start. The Lakers dropped the hammer on Friday and then Mike D’Antoni goes off on Phil Jackson following his Zen-like actions late in the game.

* Johnny V. checked in to discuss the latest Amare news. G&A wonder if this team is built for postseason success - too small?

* Guys talked about the Pats-Colts game and both agreed the game lived up to the hype.

* Adrian Peterson goes off, setting the NFL rushing record. Gambo still thinks the Cardinals should have taken him.

* The Cardinals lost their 3rd-straight. Gambo thought Whiz blew it with poor timeout management. Ash still thinks there are plenty of winnable games over the 2nd half of the season. Both agree that winning the pathetic NFL West is the best (and only) way to get to the playoffs.

* We were joined by Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin, who says the team needs to pick up the pace right now.
