Suggs to the rescue

Here’s what went down today on G&A:

* Off a bit early leading into tonight’s big Suns-Spurs game in San Antonio.

* The guys discussed the Cardinals’ loss Sunday in ‘Nawlins. A playoff birth is a long-shot, but a .500 record isn’t. Gambo says the Cardinals need Matt Leinart - Kurt Warner, although a quality backup is no longer a QB capable of taking a team into the post-season. G&A think the Red Birds should take a hard look at free-agent-to-be Terrell Suggs.

* We previewed Suns-Spurs. Will Mike D’Antoni’s team be ready to play after another flat performance Saturday against the Hornets? Is Amare part of the problem or the solution? The guys discussed - both are excited to see what happens tonight deep in the heart of Texas.

* Brian Westbrook took a knee near the Cowboys’ goalline instead of giving Dallas a chance to get the ball back late in yesterday’s game. The Eagles then proceeded to run out the clock. G&A think this was an extremely smart, unselfish play by Westbrook.

* G&A’s Holiday Heroes starts tomorrow!

* We also broke down the D-Backs big trades from Friday - plus, the team has decided not to bring back Tony Clark. Gambo says the team will miss his leadership and defense at 1st base. G&A think catcher Chris Snyder could slide into that new “leadership” position because he is well-respected by teammates.

* ASU hoops got a big win over then-17th-ranked Xavier at Wells Fargo. The Sun Devils improve to 7-2.

* We were joined by ASU freshman guard Ty Abbott, who had a game-high 19 points in the win.
