Here’s what went down Thursday on G&A:
* Big game for the Suns in LA against the Pacific Division-leading Lakers. Ash wonders if this team has the makeup to “turn it on” come playoff time. Gambo thinks a Phoenix loss could trigger a move. He also thinks Amare Stoudemire won’t be wearing a Suns’ uniform at the end of the season - stay tuned.
* Bobby Knight won his 900th game last night as Texas Tech upset A&M. G&A debated if “The General” made the right move to Lubbock - knowing he will never win an NCAA title there. How much longer will he stick around? Both agree he will never change his coaching style or how he handles his players.
* ESPN NBA analyst Tim Legler checked in. Legler said the Suns are fine and things will straighten out before the postseason. He also shared his thoughts on Joakim Noah’s player-dictated suspension.
* G&A discussed the ever-growing UFC. The sport is making big dollars, but the fighters are not. Ash thinks they deserve a bigger piece of the pie, just not sure how big a piece. Gambo believes these fighters need to look out for themselves and get as much as they can, as fast as they can.
* San Francisco 49er great Dwight Clark joined the guys to discuss “The Catch” and life during and after the NFL.
* We were also joined by Cowboys legendary running back Tony Dorsett. ”TD” talked about the Cowboys loss to the Giants and how the Patriots are unstoppable.
Tomorrow: Bears Pro-Bowl kick returner Devin Hester
