The FBR Does Not Need Tiger

Here’s what went down Wednesday on G&A

* Short show before Suns-Timberwolves basketball in Minneapolis.

* We got a full re-cap of Gambo’s big night out at the Hannah Montana concert. Oh, his 7-year daughter was there, too. Gambo went backstage, got autographs, hugs, etc. He also ran into former Diamondback Luis Gonzalez who called in to report that he saw Gambo “singing along” last night. Gambo did not deny the report.

* The Suns beat the hapless Bucks, but not with much help from the bench. Gambo says this is just how Mike D’Antoni uses his short rotation and he’s not going to change. G&A agree Raja Bell is playing his best basketball of the season. Is a minor tweak to the roster coming? Gambo thinks the Celtics have the best shot at landing Damon Stoudemire because they can offer him something the Suns can’t, playing time. Why would a player want to come to Phoenix to waste away on the bench like Jim Jackson and Jalen Rose.

* Phoenix Coyotes GM Don Maloney joined the guys. The resurgent ‘Yotes are in the hunt for a playoff spot. The club agreed to terms on a 3-year contract extension yesterday with goalie Ilya Brizgalov.

* ASU AD Lisa Love checked in for her weekly segment. She previewed this week’s men’s hoops home stand against Washington tomorrow and 6th-ranked Washington State Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena.

* Toy manufacturer and designer Todd McFarlane revealed some of his new releases that we will see during Super Bowl week.

* The FBR is next week and Tiger Woods won’t be there, again, TV numbers and attendance sky-rocket when Tiger is in the field, but the Tiger-less FBR continues to thrive. Gambo thinks no single athlete has a greater impact on their sport than Tiger. Ash thinks the FBR is smart for attracting more than just “golf fans” to the week-long popular event in north Scottsdale. We took calls, many feel the FBR doesn’t need Woods and vice-versa.

I think that the FBR needs tiger woods because he is the only player kids want to see these days. I cant even name five players behond tiger. Even though arizona is home to many retired people. The FBR would bring even more money than it already does.

The only reason you are saying the FBR doesn’t need Tiger is because he doesnt’t want to come to the FBR. Tiger goes where he feels welcome, he doesn’t feel welcome here.
