Here’s what went down today on G&A:
* The Sun Devils are on the doorstep of an NCAA tourney bid after last night’s overtime win over 7th-ranked Stanford at Wells Fargo Arena. HUGE win for Herb Sendek’s team. Gambo thinks Sendek is a runaway choice for Pac-10 Coach of the Year. Ash thinks if the Devils can get to 19 (three more wins) they will get their ticket punched, both agree they can’t afford a letdown tomorrow against Cal.
* We were joined by sophomore point guard Derek Glasser, he discussed the significance of last night’s win and previewed their match up against the Golden Bears in Tempe.
* Senator Arlen Specter wants to further investigate SpyGate. G&A hope this doesn’t make it to Congressional hearings but feel Roger Goodell is definitely covering some of this stuff up. We took calls on what all this means and how it will be resolved.
* The Suns celebrated their big win over the Mavs last night by increasing season ticket prices this afternoon. G&A understand why the Suns did this. The franchise (as a whole) is losing money, we took calls from Suns’ fans who shared their thoughts, some understood the hike, and others think the Suns are being unreasonable with their ticket hike.
* We also chatted with Suns Vice President of Basketball Operations Dave Griffin who joined the guys live from New Orleans. Griff chimed in on the possible Jason Kidd trade and who the Suns are bringing in for workouts next week as they look to finalize their roster after the Shaq deal.

Here’s what went down Thursday on G&A:
* Gambo won a 4-pack of tickets to Smuckers Stars on Ice and out of the kindness of his heart, he gave them to a “lucky” listener at the end of the show.
* The Suns lose another heart-breaker - this time to the Warriors in Oakland. G&A marvel at the beauty of basketball when these two teams play.
* We were joined by former Suns’ killer, now Mavericks assistant coach Mario Elie. ”Super Mario” previewed tonight’s game and discussed the on again/off again Jason Kidd trade and how it may affect Dallas and the rest of the West as the playoffs approach. He also broke down his “kiss of death” 3-pointer which knocked the Suns out of the Western Conference semifinals back in ’95.
* G&A debated if Mark McGwire took a better approach to the steroid allegations than the outspoken Roger Clemens. G&A agree Big Mac’s disappearing act might serve him better in the long-run than “The Rocket’s” desperate attempt to clear his name.
* ESPN NBA analyst Tim Legler checked in for his weekly segment. Legs thinks Shaq will help the Suns, but believes the Lakers have a better chance to reach the finals than Phoenix.
* We were also joined by Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik. The WBC & WBO unified champion will face Jermain Taylor in a rematch Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.

Here’s what went down on G&A Wednesday:
*Doug Franz won an HD radio, but doesn’t even own an HD TV. Ummm, that pretty much says it all.
*Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee appeared in Congress today.Gambo thinks today was nothing more than a big waste of time. He compared it to watching a whole movie and not understanding any of it when it ended. Ash thinks Clemens’ arguments made no sense-especially when he kept referring to Andy Pettitte.
*We were joined by ESPN baseball insider Tim Kurkjian. He thought the events were, at times, comical and believed Pettitte should have been in attendance.
*ASU AD Lisa Love joined the guys for her popular weekly segment. She previewed the Devils’ big game tomorrow against 7th-ranked Stanford at Wells Fargo.
*Kelvin Sampson is in hot water at Indiana and could be blown out any day for multiple recruiting violations. Gambo thinks a Bobby Knight return to IU would be “story book”. He argued it would be a perfect ending to retire a Hoosier. Ash thinks Gambo is crazy, most of the callers agreed.
*Jason Kidd is a Dallas Maverick again. Big trade came down this afternoon. Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, draft picks, and others are headed to New Jersey. Gambo loves the deal for the Mavs. Ash thinks this hurts Dallas more than it helps. Both agree the west just keeps getting better and better.
*We were also joined by Coyotes’ assistant coach Rick Tocchet. ”Toch” discussed “Operation Slapshot” and returning to Wayne Gretzky’s bench. The ‘Yotes are 0-3 since he returned to the team and Gambo ripped him.

Here’s what went down today on G&A…
* It’s day two of Shaq watch at Suns practice. Intrepid reporter Craig Grialou gave G&A a first-hand account of Shaq’s second practice. Afterward, Shaq gave Bill Walton a piece of his mind, this after Walton ripped Shaq’s commitment in getting back on the court in Miami. Gambo backed up Walton’s definiteness on the Shaq deal, although G&A detect some LA bias from the former Laker, whose son currently wears the uniform.
-Pac-10 player of the week Jeff Pendergraph joined G&A to talk about the big win in Tucson back on Sunday. ASU is back in action on Thursday with another big match-up against Stanford.
-New San Diego Padre Tony Clark called in to discuss his new 1-year deal. Always classy, Clark had nothing but nice things to say about the D-Backs and their big off-season acquisition of Dan Haren.
-Mike Stoops had some not-so-nice things to say about ASU and their recruiting style. In turn, some of the recruits whom Stoops had cited in his argument fired back at Stoops and U of A. G&A agree it’s not a good start for the already embattled coach, who might not have another chance to lose more recruits to Dennis Erickson next February.

Shaquille O’Neal responds to Bill Walton’s comments. Shaq feels the comments were disrespectful and that Walton is a hypocrite.
Here’s what went down Monday on G&A:
* ASU sweeps U of A in basketball for the 1st time since 1995. Ash was still in college back then, Gambo was back in NY and Henry Lopez was celebrating his 25th year with KTAR.
* G&A believe that this rivalry may be swaying longterm towards ASU, especially if recruits begin to bail in what is shaping up to be the post-Olsen era. Then again (minus the Olsen factor), many of the same predictions were made back in 95.’
* G&A also discussed the most exciting college hoops regular season no one is watching. Is the waning interest in college hoops’ regular season a bad sign for playoff proponents in college football? Gambo believes so.
* Shawn Marion makes his Heat debut. The Suns also have a debut of sorts. No, not Shaq yet. Instead, its the debut of a motivated Amare Stoudamire.
* G&A agree that the acquisition of Shaq has already had an effect on STAT. Is this a sign of things to come, or a bad sign considering Amare has not yet made the conversion to PF, and thus could have been playing with this kind of passion (and production) all along.
* G&A also discussed the latest from John Rocker, as he speaks out about steroid abuse and Bud Selig. Could Rocker be the next insider on steroids in baseball. Ash wonders if we’ll ever get an insider without the baggage of a Rocker or Jose Canseco.
Tuesday: Pac-10 player of the week Jeff Pendergraph
Here’s what went down today on G&A…
*Dave Burns filled in for the vacationing Mark Asher who is helping BFF Doug Franz celebrate his birthday today.
*Gambo tracked down now former Sun Shawn Marion for a BIG radio exclusive interview with the Matrix.
*Marion said he will miss his teammates, the fans, and city of Phoenix but is prepared to “start his career over” in Miami. He also shared his thoughts on playing with D-Wade and for Pat Riley and said there was never a chemistry issue in the Suns’ locker room as was often reported.
*We took calls on what Marion meant to the organization and how he will best be remembered as a Sun.
*Gambo thinks Marion’s playoff numbers weren’t as bad a people think and one day ‘Trix will be inducted into the Ring of Honor. Burnsy said Marion was never one of his favorite players, but his value at the defensive end of the floor covered a lot of the Suns’ short-comings. Both agree Marion was underrated and, at times, underappreciated.
*The Suns are looking to fill the last roster spot after the departure of Marion and Marcus Banks. Gambo reports the Suns are interested in several players including Linton Johnson, Richie Frahm, and others.
*We are also joined by Diamondbacks’ President Derrick Hall who previewed the 4th annual Fan Fest tomorrow at Chase Field.

Here’s what went down Wednesday on G&A:
*The Suns complete the deal: Shaq Daddy has arrived. Gambo doesn’t like this move for several reasons, but hopes Steve Kerr, Robert Sarver, and the Suns prove him wrong. Ash has mixed feelings about the trade, but thinks the Suns will again “have fun” playing basketball with Shaq on the roster.
*We took calls on the deal. Fans were pretty split. Some think Shaq will do nothing but eat up salary and space on the bench, others feel Phoenix FINALLY got their big man.
*Kerr joined the guys shortly after the trade was official and explained why the Suns moved forward in parting with Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks.
*ESPN NBA analyst Tim Legler joined G&A to share his thoughts: says he amazed the Suns adjusted their style to work O’Neal in the mix. ”Legs” thinks only time will tell how this trade will work itself out…it all depends on if The Daddy can stay healthy and give the Suns what they so desperately need-an inside presence at both ends of the floor.
Tomorrow: LOI day re-cap with Dennis Erickson and Mike Stoops-sounds like more bad-blood between UofA and ASU. Stay tuned!
