Ellen DeGeneres has selected Flagstaff as the winner of her “Wish You Were Here” contest, so we kick off tonight’s Gaydos After Dark with “The Top 7 Reasons Ellen DeGeneres is Coming to Flagstaff”!
Then, it’s the story of Congo, an 85-pound German Shepherd. Congo bit a landscaper who happened to be an illegal alien! The man went to court and won an amazing 250 thousand dollars! The judge also sentenced Congo to death, after which demonstrators hit the streets to plead for the dog’s life. It’s pretty clear to me that people wouldn’t take issue with this dog’s execution if the person who was bitten weren’t an illegal! A black guy, a white guy, and there would be no issue! We stay with this story for the first half of our show!
At 8:30, we touch again on how Mayor Phil Gordon is warming up to the idea of letting cops actually ask people for their immigration status. Something that concerns Gaydos here, and should concern you too, is the question of whether this will help make Phoenix police officers safer! Or, will it cause them to face even more danger than they do already?
At 9 o’clock, we learn that the Archdiocese of New York has distributed a new coloring book that teaches kids how to be safe from predators! Gaydos is glad the church is trying to educate kids about the dangers adults can pose, but I think they should make it much more clear that the bad guy might very well be someone they know and trust!
Finally, at 9:50, Hanna Scott is with us for “Gaydos on the News”! Tonight’s short bursts of useful news include stories of a deaf man who was tazed while dripping wet, another Jehovah’s Witness who’s refusing a blood transfusion, and the reason Porkchop the pig will have to change his name!
It’s great to have Gaydos on the show!
