It’s a fast-paced first hour tonight! We’ll begin with Senator Ted Kennedy’s health crisis and then we bring you breaking news, Barack Obama’s speech—not in Kentucky—not in Oregon—in Iowa! And that’s before we even hit 7:30! Now, why do you suppose Obama spoke in Iowa tonight? Obviously, he’s sending a reminder to Hillary! “Hey, remember my first big victory here? Way back when it looked like you might have a chance?” And since she doesn’t have a chance, Obama now has to worry that her disappointed supporters will throw their votes behind John McCain!
At 8, the parents of a group of Ohio band geeks—er—students are upset about security measures put in place on a band trip! Chaperones used duct tape to keep the kids in their rooms! That’s a great idea! That stuff really is good for just about anything!
A convenience store employee got fired after he fended off a robber! The guy’s heroics violated company policy, so I think they made the right move! It’s our 8:30 topic!
At 9, we’ll revisit Obama’s appearance in Iowa and we’ll think about Hillary’s white-knuckled refusal to give up on the presidency! If she stays in the race, she’ll only do so to help McCain, in the hope that she can run against him in 2012!
Things do look dark for Ted Kennedy as doctors consider how to treat his brain tumor. He’s not that much older than his fellow senator John McCain and some people will use that fact to argue that McCain is too old to lead our country! At 9:30, I have to tell you, it’s not really his age that worries me.
