Gaydos After Dark–Monday, May 19, 2008

Starting off tonight’s show, I never thought I’d see one of our nation’s finest—a soldier serving in Iraq—do something so stupid!  A sniper decided it would be a good idea to practice his sharpshooting on a copy of the Koran!  We spend enough time trying to convince people in the Middle East that we aren’t over there because we hate them!  A guy like this isn’t helping the situation at all!

A church in Minnesota has banned an autistic kid and his parents from worship services!  In all honesty, it sounds like the boy’s behavior is difficult to deal with, but it’s not like he’s doing it on purpose!  There has to be a way the church can accommodate this family.  If they can’t, I guess it’s further proof that I did the right thing when I left the fold!  We’ll get your thoughts on this at 7:30!

We’ll hear some of Senator McCain’s latest SNL appearance at 8:20!  Guess what?  He addressed the age issue head-on in a whole new kind of “John McCain Senior Moment”!

8:30 brings us to a tragic story:  a little boy gravely injured on the pitcher’s mound when he was struck by a line drive.  Of course it’s a heart-wrenching story and I feel for his parents, but I don’t think they’re justified in suing the aluminum bat manufacturer!

Just before 9, Barack Obama is standing by his woman!  He says to leave his wife Michelle out of election season mudslinging—periodend of story!  It’s not gonna happen, though. She’s on the campaign trail so she’s fair game!

In our weekly chat with Sam Donaldson, we’ll discuss the real story on how sexism is affecting Hillary Clinton, as well as the president’s glaring criticism of Obama last week!  We’re talking to the crown jewel of the Gaydos After Dark political team at 9 o’clock!

At 9:30, we’ll once again observe that people are nuts when it comes to their pets.  I’ll try to go easy on the animal lovers this time, but why would people pay thousands of dollars for a departed pet’s final send-off?

7 to 10, 7 to 10, 7 to 10; that’s how Gaydos rolls!!!

Gaydos After Dark–Friday, May 16, 2008

Barack Obama finally fired back at George W. Bush today.  Yesterday in Israel, Bush aired some thinly veiled criticisms of Obama’s ability to deal with terrorism!  Dems are saying Bush was just wrong for saying what he said, but it’s all just politics!  Bush was playing out his own little strategy and today, Obama had to do the same with his return salvo!  We’ll hear all about this at 7 o’clock!

At 7:30, one mom really disappointed her little ballplayer recently!  Too bad players on his team get benched if a parent doesn’t show up for concession stand duty!  People are saying this is too stiff a punishment for a 7-year-old, but I think it’s only right that they come down hard on the mom—even if it’s through the kid—so she lives up to her responsibility next time!

An underage boozer and repeat offender has gotten on one judge’s last nerve, so she told him he might as well kill himself and save everyone else a lot of trouble!  This is another one that people get a little squeamish about.  It’s just harsh, they say!  Again, at 8 o’clock, I’m for it!  This is the kind of thing that’ll make an impact on a punk like that!

At 8:30, Friday night means outspoken, uncensored opinions from the Gaydos peeps!  That means “Up to 20″!

No way is Hillary Clinton going to support Obama for the sake of her party!  Since Obama is the likely nominee, will there be a backlash from the many women who support Mrs. Clinton?  9 o’clock has us considering whether all of those disenfranchised ladies could become McCain Democrats!

Gaydos After Dark–Thursday, May 15, 2008

At 7 o’clock tonight, we’ll hear from one of many young rape victims who are reaching out for help.  The problem is that this sixteen-year-old and many others are seeking that help online.  This worries me, ladies and gentlemen.  Can’t these kids confide in their parents?  There’s got to be a better, safer, more effective way for victims to get the support they need.

Oh no!  At 8 o’clock, is it over for Obama?!  He made a big mistake when he called a female reporter “Sweety”!  Bad move, Senator!  Women aren’t okay with that!  We’ll hear the big flub, as well as the apology that followed!

I guess Obama just couldn’t catch a break today because, at 8:30, we’ll hear President Bush ripping on the Democratic candidate during a speech in Israel!  I’d say this was the first barrage in what will be an ongoing campaign of slamming Obama in order to help put McCain in the White House!

It would probably frighten you if you knew the operator at the 9-1-1 switchboard was indifferent to your call for help!  We’ll hear one operator express exactly that sentiment as we start our final hour!  The guy lost his job and you may think he deserved it, but I wonder if he really did.  Hear me out, people!

Today, the California Supreme Court found the ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional!  I guess that settles it!  No, actually, I’m sure it doesn’t.  I say gays should be allowed to marry, but the argument isn’t over yet.  It’s sure to be a political football this election season!

Gaydos After Dark–Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Tonight at 7 o’clock, we’re joined by Maricopa County’s border enforcement titan, Sheriff Joe Arpaio! Unfortunately, Governor Napolitano is taking away funds Arpaio could have used to fight illegal immigration, but we’ve got a way you can help him keep up the good work! Look for our Pennies for the Posse drive on KTAR’s main page!

Pastor James David Manning is commenting on Barack Obama again! I can’t believe the slanderous craziness he’s bringing out now! He’s saying that Obama—and Reverend Wright—and Oprah Winfrey are all “closet homosexuals”! I told you, it’s crazy! We’ll talk about this at 8 o’clock!

Before the news at 8:30, we’ll hear about John Edwards’ just-announced endorsement of Obama! Does anyone really want Edwards on their team?

Phoenix has the 8th least courteous drivers! I bet you’re both shocked and dismayed by this information! I tease! In fact, I think our drivers are much nastier than we’re getting credit for! At 8:30, I’ll tell you about my brush with traffic mayhem just the other day!

The late Pat Tillman’s mother Mary joins us at 9 to talk about the continuing suspicion surrounding Pat’s death! If you admire the sacrifice Pat made in Afghanistan, as I do, you’ll be interested to know that Mrs. Tillman will be signing her new book this Friday evening at Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe! The book is Boots on the Ground By Dusk!

At 9:30, we’ll give you another chance to hear what Sheriff Joe had to say during our first hour! If you missed it, you’ll hear us try to come to an understanding regarding my sexy illegal alien girlfriend!

Gaydos After Dark - Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Well Hillary may not get the Democratic nomination, but she does nail down a few small victories here and there! Tonight, I’m giving you “The Top 7 Reasons Hillary Won West Virginia”!

Governor Janet Napolitano is still hard at work on making Arizona a sanctuary state for undocumented immigrants! She’s stripped Sheriff Joe Arpaio of one million dollars he could have used to track them down! If only Mayor Gordon were in town so he could give her a big high-five on this! We’ll talk about it until 8:30 tonight!

Then, an Atlanta area bar owner doesn’t see the problem with this t-shirt he’s selling! Do you!? If not, how can you miss the lack of taste exercised here? I can’t imagine how anyone could miss the racist overtones, but I’ll take calls until 9:30 and see if someone out there has any defense for this!

At 9:30, we’ll return to the subject of those monies taken away from Sheriff Joe and his immigration crackdown! We’ll hear what Arpaio had to say about this setback and consider how his efforts will fare with these funds taken out of the equation!

Gaydos After Dark–Monday, May 12, 2008

One of these ladies is not dressed like the other and that’s why she wasn’t allowed to go to prom! Click the image for the whole story!

Mike D’Antoni is out of here! He’s on his way to New York to coach the Knicks! Let’s begin tonight’s Gaydos After Dark with “The Top 7 Questions on the Application to Be the New Suns Head Coach”!

Hillary Clinton is still not letting go of her shot at the White House. Ladies and gentlemen, she’s like a pitbull in a pantsuit! Her chances at this point are slim to none! Will she be Obama’s V.P. choice? Not if Michelle Obama has anything to say about it! We’ll think about the reasons for this during our first half hour!

It looks like we will see Obama and McCain duking it out for the presidency. Each of these guys seems to have some kind of appeal for members of the other party! I am fascinated by the idea that, whichever of these candidates takes it, it could be the end of politics as usual in our nation’s Capitol! This is our 7:30 topic!

At 8, I never thought I’d return to the church! However, that was before they started offering free gas to people who come to worship! Oh, I’m there, all right! Gas up the Gaydos limo and you can count on me stopping in early and often!

A seating mix-up caused one traveler to spend three and a half hours seated in the airplane crapper!   He’s suing the airline for two million dollars!  Hanna Scott joins me at 8:30 and I bet she’s not the only person disgusted by what this guy had to go through!

Legendary ABC newsman Sam Donaldson joins me at 9 o’clock.  We’ll discuss the (somehow) ongoing race for the Democratic nomination, the possible choices for the Veep spot and the role of race as the nomination process winds down!

At 9:30, our “Rated R Issue of the Night ” takes us back to the student who tried to get into her prom wearing something wholly inappropriate!  The magical night ended with her in handcuffs!  What a disaster!

Last, we’ll talk about Mayor Gordon’s upcoming trip to Israel.  Why would President Bush choose him as one of the officials representing the U.S. there?  Your guess is as good as mine!

Gaydos After Dark–Friday, May 9, 2008

Dearly beloved, Crawford, Texas is all abuzz over the nuptial celebration for our president’s daughter! That’s why we’re bringing you “The Top 7 Surprises Planned for Jenna Bush’s Wedding”!

With the economy looking so bleak right now, we all have to tighten our belts! Even Gaydos is being thrifty when it comes to sending Mom a gift this Mother’s Day! My beautiful tribute to the woman who gave me life will be a text message reading “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! :)” Tell me you love it! That’s our 7 o’clock topic!

Totally unrelated to my Mother’s Day text message, at 7:30, we’ll ask for stories of kids’ escapades that made you moms wish you weren’t mothers!

At 8 o’clock, we’ll talk about how delightful the race between McCain and Obama is going to be! Surely, these guys won’t go negative against each other! Or will they?

At 8:20, Bill Clinton goes off on attendees at a speech in West Virginia! That’s a state Hill has a good chance of winning, if Bill hasn’t killed it for her! He tends to do that, y’know!

We’re bringing you “Up to 20″ at 8:30! It’s just like Radio YouTube and you’re the star! Get your thoughts on the air with our Friday night tradition!

Starting off our third hour, you won’t believe how one mom dealt with her daughter’s problem with a playground bully!

9:30 brings us to “Gaydos on the News,” with this week’s edition featuring the story of a guy who performed a tracheotomy on himself!

We’ve got one last thought about moms before we go!  We’ll have a listen to the ad featuring John McCain and his mommy!

Gaydos After Dark–Thursday, May 8, 2008

Our mayor is lashing out at his critics with a lot of name-calling! “Sticks and stones,” Phil. “Sticks and stones”! Tonight we’ll bring you “The Top 7 Signs Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon Has Gone Nuts”!

Through 8:30, we’re discussing the mayor and his harsh words against those who’d like to see his election recalled. He’s actually been referring to the members of American Citizens United as Nazis, racists and skinheads! You’ll find that pretty unlikely after we talk to ACU’s Philip Quihuis, who assures us that people belonging to hate groups are barred from the organization!

At 8:30, a man runs out of his house and shoots the guy who’s trying to steal his truck! Maybe you’ll disagree, but I can’t say I think it was the smartest thing to do!

The McLaughlin Group’s Eleanor Clift talks the vote with us at 9! Among other things, we’ll consider a comment from Hillary Clinton that some are saying was racist!

Red V. Blue Thursday continues at 9:30 with Presidential Match Game! Headbanger Hanna Scott, presidential historian and scholar B. Nicks and young Gaydos apprentice Jarrett Carlen are our panel of stars! One Republican and one Democrat will match wits and answers with them for fun and luxurious, glittering prizes!!!

We’ve got one last look at the Democratic race before we put the lid on tonight’s Gaydos After Dark! As she comes to the end of the road, we’ll hear Hillary Clinton’s five big campaign mistakes!

Gaydos After Dark–Wednesday, May 7, 2008

Well, Hillary Clinton won the Indiana primary last night! Barely!! Still, she doesn’t seem discouraged at all! We’re starting off tonight’s show with “The Top 7 Reasons Hillary Refuses to Drop Out of the Race”!

That’s right. Hillary hasn’t won this thing, so far, but she shows no signs of going away quietly! I hate to say it, but I see a back room deal in the future for the Democratic candidates! During our first big hour, we’ll learn that if Obama wants Hillary to bow out, he’s gonna have to offer her the V.P. spot!

Sheriff Joe Arpaio has now taken his crime suppression round-ups to predominantly white Fountain Hills! Does that absolve him of the racial profiling he’s always accused of? Let’s find out at 8 o’clock!

Tonight’s final hour brings us to a high school trip to Spain! A bunch of young people are going to be exposed to a new culture, exotic surroundings—and booze! The age restrictions there aren’t as strict as here in the U.S., so the organizers say it’s okay if these kids have a drink! Is it a big deal? Eh…I don’t think so.
