Gaydos After Dark–Wednesday, July 2, 2008

At 7 o’clock, a mom blows off refilling her autistic son’s cancer medication, so now he’s going to die! I could call her stupid—I could call her lazy—but those terms are way too good for her! As horrible as this sounds, I think this woman wanted her boy to die so she wouldn’t have to take care of a disabled child anymore! It also seems likely that the parents’ divorce may have helped propel this kid into tragedy!

Arizonans will again get to vote on banning gay marriage! Why always the vote on banning it? Why not an affirmative vote? Why not let us vote on legalizing it? We’ll touch on this at 7:50.

Mesa’s immigration policy is a little better than ours here in Phoenix, but that’s not saying much! We’ll talk about what our neighbors to the east are doing wrong as we move into our second hour!

At 8:30, Wesley Clark says McCain’s war record doesn’t qualify him to be president! Well, no, not by itself! But, that doesn’t mean he has no qualifications!

At 9 o’clock, we speak to Major General Don Shepperd (Retired) on the possible closure of Guantanamo Bay! Where will the flood of released terrorists go then? Anywhere they want. Maybe they’ll come to Phoenix! Yeah, that won’t be good!

Gas prices continue to burn away everybody’s cash! At 9:30, we’ll hear the story of a woman who traded sex for gas!

We’ll close things out by weighing our options in the event of an emergency. Do you phone 9-1-1 or do you text? I say phone! Especially if you’re over thirty. By the time you locate the exclamation point on your keypad, it could be too late!

when doctors see child neglect they are to report it. why wouldnt they notice that this was never done? I realize there are lots of patients but most doctors sympathise with children and that they would think “where is so and so”? they haven’t been in? maybe do a follow up.
of course the mom should be sentenced to premeditated murder. she did this intentially knowing the outcome.
I just wonder why anyone wouldnt wonder even after a few months what ever happened to ?

As to the previous post: if the child saw an oncologist in a hospital for the chemo and the mother said she would follow through with getting her son treatment, that oncologist probably discharged the child to a primary care doctor for followup. Or the patient’s mother may have said she would follow through with the pediatrician and the oncologist released her to that doctor’s care thinking that doc would follow up with the oncologist.

Any patient who discharges from a hospital - who knows if they will follow through with their post-op care or treatment? I am a pharmacist and worked in hospitals for years before I switched to a different area of my profession. You see everything in hospitals. You see people come to the ER wanting chemo treatment (no joke) and never see them again. Any ER doc or nurse could tell some really good stories of what they see on a daily basis. This mother could have said all the right things, they thought the child would be cared for, then they move on to the next patient.

Patients have to be the ones to take responsibility for their own health. Can you imagine how long it would take to get an appointment to see your doctor if he or she was trying to follow up on every single patient that didn’t come back for once a year visits or follow ups with other therapy? They’d have to hire 100 people just to man the phones or computers to get in contact with everyone. If you lived in a small town with one doctor out in the country, that’s different - for the rest of the world, it’s impossible. With that said, a sick child is not in charge, the PARENT is. So the parent(s) have the responsibility to do the follow through for their child - these parents failed miserably.
