Another reason to closely monitor your child’s cell phone and internet use - there’s a new trend amongst teens and young adults called “Sexting”

Also, some from other states believe that we’re lucky to have speed cameras rather than hidden police

And, how would you feel about your child being trained to fight school gunman rather than hiding from them?

We are lucky to have the cameras.
I would much rather get a ticket in the mail that doesn’t add points to my license. The cameras give us 10 miles over the posted limit. That is more than what any other state gives you before you are pulled over. In Illinois, police will pull you over if you are more than 5 miles over the limit, and you get points added to your license on top of it.
With cameras, we also don’t have to go through all the stress that is accompanied by getting stopped by the police, not to mention, the time that it takes out of the day for the stop itself. More than likely, if I am going 10 miles over the posted speed limit, I am probably late to something. Getting stopped by the police would make me even more tardy. Plus, getting stopped by the police, no matter when it is, just seems to ruin the entire day.
Sure, our state wouldn’t be able to get as much revenue if they didn’t have the cameras. But is that really a bad thing? I have already noticed a difference on the freeways as far as speed is concerned. People are no longer pushing 80+ miles an hour, the average speed to keep up with traffic is around 72 miles an hour, and that’s a good thing.
I just wish that the cameras were smart enough to also gauge distance between vehicles and speed so it would catch those that follow too closely.
If you don’t want to support the cameras, just drive the speed limit. Signs tell you well ahead of time that the cameras are coming, it’s not like they are out of view and hidden behind bushes somewhere.
Stop whining about it, and drive safely!
