“Obama to Chavez: Lets Hug It Out!”

Why would Barack Obama want to be seen smiling and laughing while shaking the hand of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez at the Summit of the Americas?  Obama crossed a room at a gathering to greet Chavez.  He reached out his hand to him and was seen smiling and patting the Venezuelan leader on the shoulder as the two shook hands.  In response, Chavez told Obama in Spanish, “I want to be your friend.”  I still can’t get the image out of my head… our president looking quite chummy with one of the most anti-American leaders in the entire world.
 
It makes you think…
Would Ronald Reagan have extended his hand in friendship to Muammar Gaddafi? 
Would you have ever seen George Herbert Walker Bush shake Saddam Hussein’s slimy hand? 
Do you think George W. Bush would be seen greeting Osama bin Laden with a smile? 
Even Jimmy Carter, the worst president of my lifetime would have snubbed Ayatollah Khomeini! 
 
Then why would Obama be seen joking around with Hugo, a man that despises the USA?  This is the same guy who called President Bush the devil at the United Nations and said that President Obama has the same stench as President Bush.

So why would our president welcome a man like Chavez with open arms?  Here’s my take:  I understand the fact that they were both in the same room and a greeting had to take place.  I don’t have a problem with the handshake.  If Obama would have snubbed Chavez or walked right past him ignoring him, that would have given the Venezuelan crazy man exactly what he wanted.  Here’s the problem I have:  Don’t smile and joke around with this idiotic dictator who has besmirched America time and time again!  Don’t pat him on the back!  A firm handshake and a straight face from Obama would have been sufficient.  But no… Obama made it look as if the two of them have been best friends for years!  I have pictures of me with my best friends and I don’t look as happy to see them as Obama was to see Chavez.  I was waiting to see if Obama and Chavez were going to grab their snuggies, pop some popcorn and watch a chick flick together on a man date!
 
Obama wants the world to know that the days of George W. Bush are over.  He is trying so hard to be the complete opposite of Bush that he even stooped so low as to almost cuddle with Chavez.  Obama wants a new start and a new beginning with many different countries… even those countries we’ve been at odds with for a long time… and I get that.  But don’t be “buddy buddy” with a man who would love to spit right in your face!
 
Obama is on this pathetic apology tour.  He has told Europe that America was “arrogant.”  WRONG!  In Mexico, he said 90% of the guns on the border come from the US.  WRONG!  Now, he hugs it out with Hugo Chavez?  Is this change we can believe in, or change just for the sake of change?  If I remember correctly, Obama did say he’d talk to terrorists and dictators, and that’s exactly what he’s doing.  Many of you voted for change, including me, but I don’t think this is quite what we had in mind.
