Relevant again, just like that

It’s like the Suns were just hooked up to an I-V bag of relevance.  They have it again.  Just like that, they matter.

The stale, stagnant air surrounding this team has just been blown out an open door.  The same door that Boris Diaw and Raja Bell were just pushed out of.

I love the deal.  In fact I can only think of one thing I don’t like about it; too many guys who will want the ball, demand touches and feel slighted if they don’t fill their quota.  Just last night Shaq was talking about how he hasn’t received his fair share of them.

But other than that….love it.  Diaw’s awful contract?  Gone.  Bell’s vocal discontent in this new system?  Gone.  Richardson’s youth and scoring ability?  He’s here, at a decent price (2 years 28 Million after this season).

Terry Porter and Steve Kerr just put their stamp on this team, by trading two of Mike D’Antoni’s favorite players to Charlotte.

It won’t have the same effect among the casual fans that the Shaq trade had in February but make no mistake.  The Suns have relevance flowing through their veins again.  And they’re a better basketball team to boot.

I think we are a bit better. I don’t know how much better but the suns are definitely better. My gut feeling is that Kerr is waiting on the right offer for Amare. Honestly Amare is the most gifted big man in the league but doesn’t have the “barkley” attitude of not wanting to lose. No reason he should not be averaging at least 10 to 11 boards a game. This is what I think kerr sees this too. If the Suns landed Bosh for Amare, I would have us as the front runners for the Championship! Again I love amare but hate his rebounding motivation!

Could not agree more. This team needed a perimeter scorer in the half-court to counter with the low post presence of Shaq and Amare, and Richardson should fill that role nicely.

Must be great kool-aide your drinking. Richardson is a great talent, but this didn’t solve the Suns biggest problem which is Shaquille Oneal. He is slow, can’t play defense any more and clogs up the middle which plays against Richardson’s greatest strength, his ability to drive to the hoop. And for all the talk about defense, they just lost their best defender. I liked Boris. He had his issues, but he was smart and arguably their best one on one offensive player.

Let’s face it, the Suns are boring and it isn’t going to get better.

Great trade!!!! Boris is lazy and over paid! Raja is old and he has lost a step or two! Tire of his complaining about everything
Richardson should help the defense since he is so long and athletic and he is a great shooter!!!!!
